Chapter 372 - Chapter 372 Chapter 368 Sudden Mutation

Chapter 372: Chapter 368 Sudden Mutation Chapter 372: Chapter 368 Sudden Mutation After hearing Fang Xiaocao’s words, Taotie immediately became vigilant and his tiger-like eyes scanned the surroundings.

“Princess Your Highness, how far can this mental attack radiate?”

Taotie didn’t understand hypnotism, so he could only ask Fang Xiaocao. Knowing the general range would make it easier for him to find the person hiding in the shadows.

Fang Xiaocao shook her head: “No need to look. The person couldn’t possibly be nearby.”

“Normal hypnosis requires a medium, like eyes or voice, or the aid of a tool. The stronger the person being hypnotized, the more stringent the conditions for hypnosis. Of course, if you’re just hypnotizing an ordinary person, using just the voice can do the trick, so the range of a hypnosis attack isn’t big.”

“However, once the target has been hypnotized, it’s possible to form a bond with the target’s mind, leaving one’s own mental seed. There are no distance limitations for this. If someone touches my target, killing the target directly, I will sense it. If it’s hypnotizing my target, my mental seed can counterattack anytime, anywhere.”

Fang Xiaocao gave Taotie a brief explanation of hypnotism.

“Is it that scary?”

Taotie asked in surprise.

Fang Xiaocao just smiled and didn’t say anything.

“So what do we do now?”

“Can Cang Luan still wake up?”

Taotie pressed on.

“She can wake up, but I can’t be certain what state she’ll be in after waking. It’s very likely she’ll still be in the same wild beast form as before, so better tie her up to avoid any problems,”

Fang Xiaocao spread her hands in a gesture of helplessness.

Taotie nodded, took some climbing rope out of his backpack, and bound Cang Luan with an extremely enchanting technique of rope art.

Seeing this scene, Fang Xiaocao smiled wryly.

She muttered to herself: “This Taotie guy, he definitely has some sort of special fetish.”

Unaware of Fang Xiaocao’s private musings, Taotie tied Cang Luan securely and nonchalantly slung her over his shoulder.

“Princess Your Highness, do we continue the pursuit?”

Taotie inquired.

“Pursue!”

Fang Xiaocao said without hesitation.

Fang Xiaocao was very curious about how Cang Luan had come to be like this, perhaps the secret was hidden in the Ancient Tomb, or maybe on Su Wanqing. No matter where it was, Fang Xiaocao wanted to find out.

“Good, I’ll lead the way!”

Taotie, finding Fang Xiaocao’s words agreeable, carried Cang Luan on his back and headed outside the camp. Their camels were all out there.

Fang Xiaocao and the Drilling Mouse followed behind him.

Taotie put Cang Luan on his camel, leaped onto the camel’s back himself, shook the reins, and urged the camel to move quickly.

Under Taotie’s lead, the three of them arrived at a sand dune about one hundred meters away from the camp.

Below this sand dune, there actually was a thief’s hole.

It was apparent that someone had re-dug over an old hole.

“Princess Your Highness, here we are, someone indeed went in!”

Taotie said in a deep tone.

Fang Xiaocao nodded: “Hmm!”

Fang Xiaocao hopped off her camel, walked up to the thief’s hole, and peered inside.

The sand here wasn’t very thick, just a layer on top, and underneath were stone and earth. Fang Xiaocao figured this was likely why the thief’s hole hadn’t collapsed even after several years.

“Drilling Mouse, you stay up here and watch the camels and Cang Luan. If danger arises, prioritize your life, don’t act recklessly. Taotie and I are going down to take a look; perhaps we’ll find something.”

Fang Xiaocao laid out her plan.

“Yes!”

The Drilling Mouse nodded and responded.

“Taotie, let’s go!”

Fang Xiaocao said.

Taotie nodded and jumped into the thief’s hole first.

The tomb’s entrance was sloped, not straight up and down. With Taotie in front, Fang Xiaocao didn’t even need a rope–she just followed Taotie and jumped right in.

Everything went dark, and Fang Xiaocao felt like she was on a slide, swiftly descending. With a few bumps and knocks to her head along the way, the speed of her fall finally eased.

After sliding for about fifteen minutes, Fang Xiaocao felt herself suddenly launched into the air, followed by the sensation of weightlessness that comes with falling.

Fang Xiaocao was startled and closed her eyes instinctively, flailing about in a panic, wildly waving her arms, hoping to grab onto something.

But just a few seconds into her fall, before Fang Xiaocao could catch hold of anything, she felt herself caught in a warm embrace.

Fang Xiaocao opened her eyes to take a look.

She let out a sigh of relief.

She was caught by Taotie.

Looking up toward the top of the pit.

It wasn’t very high, only a few meters.

No wonder the landing came so quickly.

Taotie put down Fang Xiaocao, “Princess Your Highness, we have entered the range of the Ancient Tomb.”

“This Ancient Tomb was built relying on an underground river. However, there is a kind of monster fish in the river that actively attacks people, dragging them into the river. With the undercurrent raging, once a person falls in, they get swept away, impossible to retrieve. We lost three brothers here before, so you must stay away from that river at all costs.”

Taotie gave her a very solemn reminder.

Fang Xiaocao nodded, “Understood.”

Saying this, she shifted to one side, moving away from the riverbank.

“Princess Your Highness, follow me!”

Taotie walked between Fang Xiaocao and the river, protecting her from the monster fish in the river that might suddenly leap out of the water and ambush her.

Fang Xiaocao followed Taotie along the riverbank for about five hundred meters when they began to hear subdued moaning.

Taotie immediately made a gesture for silence and pulled Fang Xiaocao down to crouch.

Fang Xiaocao opened her mouth as if to speak.

Taotie quickly shook his hand, signaling Fang Xiaocao to hold back.

Taotie slowly drew the long knife from his back, and seeing this, Fang Xiaocao promptly took out several Hidden Weapons, holding them in hand ready to fight.

Crouching low, Taotie stealthily moved towards the direction of the moans, with Fang Xiaocao following closely behind, careful with every step.

After advancing ten meters, the moaning got louder.

A drag mark of blood appeared on the ground.

Fang Xiaocao and Taotie exchanged glances. Taotie made several tactical hand signals, and Fang Xiaocao nodded in understanding, staying crouched in place with the Hidden Weapons ready in her hand.

Taotie gave her a thumbs-up, confirming she understood correctly, then holding his knife, he continued forward stealthily.

Fang Xiaocao watched Taotie’s figure, prepared to launch her Hidden Weapons to support him at any moment.

Taotie moved about five meters forward, then with a sudden leap, swung his knife ahead.

Craaack–

As Taotie’s blade fell, a strange cry of some unknown creature rang out.

Fang Xiaocao’s heart leaped to her throat.

She watched Taotie without blinking.

Taotie put away his knife, giving Fang Xiaocao an ‘OK’ hand signal.

Fang Xiaocao breathed a sigh of relief and quickly walked toward Taotie.

Just then, something unexpected happened.

The previously tranquil underground river suddenly rippled.

Whoosh–

And in the next second!

The river’s surface exploded into a spray of water.

Fang Xiaocao instinctively turned her head to look.

She saw a dark figure leap from the river.

A foul stench washed over her…
