Chapter 67: Monseryan Monster: Skyrender [1]
Monolithic Skyrender incoming!
Axel couldn’t hide his expression of absolute shock. He stared at the sky, his neck swirling around, trying to find where the monster was coming from.
Chrysa asked the floating screen, her voice almost quivering.
"How far from here?"
{In ten seconds}, showed on the screen.
Axel cursed, catching his breath.
"Just one?" Chrysa asked the device.
{Yes}
Axel tried to keep his calm.
"What do we turn to now?" he asked, his voice carrying just a pinch of bravery.
"We can’t change to hologramed monsters now, that won’t work. It seems the monster detected we are here and us coming for the sole purpose of ripping apart."
Axel cursed under his breath.
’Damn!’
By the way, this conversation only took place in eight seconds as they were really fast in talking now.
Two more seconds!
Axel snapped his fingers and—
Transformation.
He felt his bones on fire, his brain suddenly burning and—
THOOM!
He was down, clothed in the ancient Chinese-looking costume which Chrysa now found not so cool.
Well, she clicked a very tiny button by the side of her neck and—
Rhrrrimm!
In a mechanical-like sound, her face was covered in a knight (sci-fi looking) helmet. Her suit glowed simultaneously as a gust of wind through the air and was heading towards their direction.
Axel caught the sight just in time. It was the damn! Monster. Fury in its eyes, a crystal-looking axe in its hand, a grim line on its ugly-looking lips.
Axel, with his super-fast speed senses stuff, caught, in HD:
A monolithic-looking Skyrender, moving with madness, its massive form cutting through the cloudless horizons like a slow-breathing storm. Each motion was insane, mad-looking and oozing pure adrenaline.
Its body, a towering blend of armor and unnatural symmetry, hovered above Axel and Chrysa, humming with a yet again, INSANE! energy that seemed to be disturbing the air itself.
Its elongated limbs remained folded beneath it, but tension clung to every joint like a coiled spring. The stone-hardened plates along its frame shifted ever so slightly as it adjusted course, its head tilting just a fraction, ready to rip Axel’s teeth, skull, kidney, brain, and damn! soul apart.
A faint glow radiated beneath its surface, not like a heart but like a signal, steady and cold. The creature didn’t drift aimlessly, why would it, when it already had its purpose, and it was to rip, brutally, its target apart.
It advanced, Axel seeing it in slow motion, his muscles twitching, ready to swerve to the left or right with Chrysa now.
In that split second, the wind gave way, the sky thinned, and still it came, unwavering, unflinching, pure horror in its eyes.
It was time!
Time for Axel to—
Axel gripped Chrysa’s hand very tightly and swerved her to the ri...
...to the left!
They landed hard on the ground and so did the monster’s crystal-looking axe which was sharp and pointy and edgy and neck ’unwelcoming’ as hell!
Axel shot himself forward with so much speed, far away from the monster, dragging Chrysa (by the hand) along.
"Thank you," Chrysa quickly said to Axel who only nodded, their eyes now fixed on the monster.
Breathing very hard, the monster blurted:
"So it’s true, so it’s fkin true—"
Rshhkkeee!
He rolled his axe over his head and stormed after Axel.
That seemed to surprise Axel though.
’Why the fuk is it me?’
Chrysa pulled back a bit and crouched on the ground, studying the monster’s every move.
She was able to do that based on the fact that when the helmet was on, she couldn’t see normally anymore. Now, she saw through a system interface. One that calculated the every move of her opponents and showed her, based on its study, what next the opponent would do.
Whether the opponent would punch, or the opponent would kick, or the opponent would somersault, or the opponent would—
’Christ!’
The opponent would swerve with so much force, Axel, towards her.
She dodged, lithe in her movement.
Axel wasn’t injured, but well, he received a punch and was very lucky that the axe the monster had thrown didn’t meet him.
It had skimmed just a very little piece of his flesh by the cheek though, almost slicing the cheek off if Axel hadn’t used some effort and thrown himself (with the help of the wind) to the side.
Chrysa stretched her left hand towards, in a gesture that looked like she wanted to summon something.
Rshhjuukk - [An electronic-like sound]
A large axe almost the same size as the one in the monster’s hand was in Chrysa’s hands.
She rolled it over her head and said in a loud voice:
"Let’s goo!"
The monster charged forward at her. She too charged forward, running at an amazing (human-like [not out-of-this-world speed like Axel]) speed at the monster.
The monster, still in the run, kissed the sides of his blade and winked at Chrysa, his face still a frown though.
"Death is the only way now."
Chrysa smiled (even though her opponent couldn’t see it) at that.
The monster licked his lips and used his other hand to slap his bald head.
"I was sent to confirm if you idiots are really here and report back, so see, that, I am going to do!"
Axel, hearing that, suddenly thought:
’So truly, Dan is the snake?’
And then, almost frustrated he blurted out loud, even the monster had to stop and look at him.
"That son of a bich!, that son of a fukin bi*tch!"
The monster suddenly stopped and looked at him, a bit shocked with how he was reacting.
Chrysa thought this was the right time to gain momentum.
She sent her sword towards neck...
...neck
...neck
...ne
..ck
The monster dodged it, sent Chrysa a punch, she also dodged, somersaulting in the air, sending the monster a punch at the same time.
It met the monster who closed its eyes, trying to bear the pain.
Chrysa landed on the enormous monster’s neck and started punching it.
The monster struggled at first, but then—
With a move of its hands, sent Chrysa landing on the ground.
Axel stood up now.
"That’s it!" he shouted. "Enough of this nonsense."
