I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero
Chapter 63: Breakfast Banter

Chapter 63: Breakfast Banter

Axel woke up to the sound of glass cups clinking and subtle laughter.

He blinked repeatedly and got out of bed, his vision similar to a blur. On his face was a slight frown, not that he was angry or anything, but just because he had gotten up from sleep.

He rubbed his eyes with the back of his palms, his vision still a blur, but after blinking and blinking and blinking, it turned back to normal (at least he could see).

Now being able to see clearly, all he saw were faces, puzzled ones by the way, staring intently into his face.

’Morning?’ he asked, bemused that they were looking at him in such a manner.

"Morning, son," his father said with a grin.

Axel saw that they were sipping coffee, all of them, except Mirrormeld who was cradling a glass cup of milk in her hands.

Axel could only grimace at that. He didn’t quite understand her superstition with milk.

"Morning."

"Morning!"

"Good morning."

"Morn - ing!"

Those were the responses he got from others.

He simply nodded and sat on a metal-looking chair with a soft pillow-like stuff on top.

He noted that a table was in front of him. It was round, the edges smooth and silk in a manner he didn’t consider normal.

His dad was munching on a donut, crumbs of it dropping from his mouth.

Axel looked at the middle of the table and saw a box of tasty donuts, and then looking at their hands, he saw them also munching on one each.

He felt excluded and he had to chip in:

"You guys should have woke me up when you started."

Voidbreaker laughed like a maniac to that. He was the only one laughing because no one was doing so, and Axel had to wonder if he was normal.

"Our last damn meal in the realm plunger," Spinal Edge said.

"I almost forgot we were leaving today," Axel said and turned to Chrysa:

"You gave no sign of wanting to fall asleep. Hell!, it came so unexpected I had to leave you to yourself."

Chrysa laughed, the donut in her mouth stopping it from coming out sweetly and softly as she had wanted.

But..., never mind.

"I mean, I only slept for about 15 minutes and I up again, studying the world-building of this realm."

Henry (Axel’s dad) slid a cup of coffee on the table over to Axel’s side. Axel took it, nodding in appreciation, and took two donuts out of the donut box.

Voidbreaker eyed him and said with a cheeky smile:

"You’ve taken more than you can chew, mate."

Axel smiled and took a bite.

"I didn’t say I can’t chew it, but I bet you can’t."

The others didn’t know what came over them, but they said:

"Ohhh!" in unison.

Axel himself was shocked. He didn’t say that to sound cool or like he was hitting some hard lines, but when the others exclaimed, he suddenly felt bloated with accomplishment. Like he had actually delivered a hard line back there.

Voidbreaker was ready to counter that with a hard line of his when they heard a...

Flick!

Turning their heads to the right, they saw Chrysa facing a screen that showed a map of a city, or even a country or some damn! place, they didn’t know.

On the screen were words written in block letters and some in small letters. Chrysa, standing by it, held, well, nothing.

Axel had been expecting her to at least hold a remote or a fancy digital pencil that she would use to be moving the places on the screen if she was explaining to them.

He shrugged slightly. It seemed that she would be doing it with her fingers.

"Sorry for interrupting, but we’ll be leaving in less than an hour."

They wanted to protest, but she already had an answer to it.

"I know, won’t we get our things ready?" She paused a bit and then continued:

"Well, we brought nothing with us, so I don’t see what we are taking away. But well, during the night, I packaged everything I think we’ll need, which is just survival equipment and all the food in the fridge and any place I could find one."

She took a deep breath and continued:

"So I’ve things all sorted out. By the way, with Dan out loose, we’ve got to quicken our pace, and that includes our plans too."

They all didn’t say a word, they could only stare at her, she was now the leader.

"Due to my high-tech suit, which offers a scanning system, I was able to get a rough map of this place. Note, Monseryan realm seems to be dilapidated and with no unique world-building. But well, when I scanned the place, I saw that there are actually many monsters here, and the reason we’re not seeing them is because they rarely come to the middle of their world."

She paused and was about to inhale and exhale when Voidbreaker hit his hand loudly on the table and loudly, and also with the same energy, he shouted:

"Well, c’mon, what’s the inhaling, exhaling, and pausing for, suspense?"

Axel looked at him, and even though he had quite a point (a silly point), it was true. But then again, Axel found his character eccentric.

Chrysa smiled.

"Well, I can’t talk on and on without breathing, it’s scientifically impossible."

Voidbreaker only stared at her, looking at Axel, who was looking at him with a grimace.

"Hey, hey," he said. "Only stating a fact here, I guess."

Chrysa continued:

"Well, according to the result of the scan. Um, so, it seems that the Monseryan sub-realm is square in shape. Being square divides it into six core parts, which are:

The East

The West

The North

The South

The Middle, which is where we are, and

The Sky, which most of the Skyrenders live in."

Axel looked serious, and he even stroked his beardless chin, intent on what Chrysa was saying.

"I really can not scan how that place looks as I’m far away, but I was able to scan the regions though, at least how it’s divided into."

"We could follow anywhere, but firstly we have to know how that place is guarded for our safety."

Out of impulse, Axel asked:

"What’s the most dangerous region?"

Chrysa shrugged. "According to what my scan picked, it’s surprisingly the Sky."

It struck Axel sooner than he knew it did.

’That would be the perfect place to open the portal now, as the sky is out of reach,’ Axel thought.

’Interesting’
