I really didn’t want to lead Ultra Star astray
Chapter 17 - Creating Light? The Will of Earth

Chapter 17: Creating Light? The Will of Earth

The entire Earth began to undergo strange changes. The sky, the ocean, and the land all started to flicker with a faint glow. Though the glow was not especially dazzling, it drew the attention of countless people.

“Is this the end of the world?” Kato Shoichiro, captain of the MAT team, stared blankly at the scene before him. It was simply too bizarre.

The Earth glowing—would you believe it? At the very least, they had never witnessed such a phenomenon before. Some people were terrified, others curious, and some even took out cameras, trying to capture the moment.

Bemstar also looked on in confusion. For reasons unknown, it felt a trace of threat from the light, yet at the same time, it wanted to devour it!

It sensed that if it could absorb that light, its strength would increase significantly.

“This is the Earth’s light!” Jack also looked surprised. He had no idea the Earth itself could emit light. This truly was a planet filled with endless possibilities. Seeing Bemstar attempt to swallow the light, Jack ignored the red warning light flashing on his chest and rushed forward to tackle the monster.

If Bemstar succeeded in devouring that glow, no one could guarantee whether this planet would ever be able to produce such light again.

Outside Earth, two towering figures appeared.

“So this is Earth!” said Seven, gazing at the planet with a mix of nostalgia and awe.

“What a world—so familiar, yet so strange. When I crossed over, it was already the year 2020. It’s been nearly fifty years now. So many things have changed.” Mu Yang didn’t quite know what to feel. This was his home, yet not quite his home.

It was merely a similar planet in a different universe.

“Hm?” Mu Yang suddenly stared at Earth, seemingly lost in thought.

“What’s wrong? Jack’s situation isn’t looking good. We need to defeat Bemstar quickly,” said Seven gravely.

Earth really did seem to be plagued with disasters. Even monsters like Bemstar were coming here to feed. What’s more, this particular Bemstar was far stronger than others of its kind—otherwise Jack wouldn’t be struggling so much.

“This Earth has its own consciousness!” Mu Yang’s eyes glinted as he spoke. A beam of light shot from his hand, entering Earth’s atmosphere and quickly vanishing. Immediately afterward, the whole planet began to emit a strange brilliance.

“What is this?” Seven was stunned. “Earth has its own light?”

Heaven help him—he’d protected Earth for so long and had never known that it had its own light. Turning to Mu Yang, he asked, “Did you awaken this?”

“Yes. It was faint at first, but I seem to be able to awaken its glow. Just now I sensed a faint planetary consciousness from Earth, so I used my light to help it a little. That’s all,” Mu Yang replied, a knowing look in his eyes. As expected of a God of Light.

Of course, Mu Yang couldn’t yet create light at will. What he did was simply awaken the light within Earth itself. This light was weak, but it had potential.

“Earth really is a planet favoured by destiny,” said Seven joyfully. “A planet with independent consciousness and its own light holds enormous potential!”

“Thank you,” said a cool female voice in Mu Yang’s ear.

Mu Yang blinked. Was that the voice of the Earth?

“I don’t really know what changes this will bring to Earth or to humanity. Hopefully they’ll be good ones,” he muttered. In the original work, even in Mebius’ time, Earth never showed signs of possessing will.

However, in other universes, similar phenomena had occurred. In Gaia’s world, for instance. And in Dyna’s universe, there should have been something like the Arayashiki as well.

Right now, Earth’s light wasn’t strong enough to give birth to an Ultraman. Not even if all the light were combined.

Still, Mu Yang didn’t regret what he had done. With his help, Earth had begun to gather light from the sky, the land, and the sea. Many people were astounded by this, and their astonishment was generating a steady stream of emotional energy.

“It will definitely get better. I believe in humanity!” said Seven solemnly.

As expected of someone who was willing to go to cosmic prison for the sake of humanity.

“Honestly, even as a human, I don’t know,” Mu Yang chuckled. “Humanity is a species that keeps making mistakes while growing. Anyway, let’s go! Jack can’t hold on much longer!”

Jack’s condition was worsening. His energy indicator was flashing wildly. He didn’t know how much longer he could last—perhaps just a second more before his energy ran out. But he was still determined to keep fighting.

The light of the sky, the earth, and the ocean was gathering toward the Earth’s core. If they could be secured, even Bemstar wouldn’t be able to reach them for now—at least not before reinforcements from the Land of Light arrived.

Bemstar, on the other hand, was visibly frustrated. It had expected to enjoy a great feast, but this damned Ultraman was clinging to it and ruining everything. Infuriating! Its eyes turned, and it shifted its attention to Jack. Devouring him might also be a great meal!
