I Really Am A Villain -
Ch. 446 - Feather Porch Pavillion
Wenren Suo looked at the young man sitting on the other meditation cushion nearby, his expression clearly unhappy.
“Grandpa, why did you let him come here?” he asked.
“Tianming had some questions about martial arts and came to ask me. What’s wrong with that?” Wenren Jingshi replied calmly.
“There are so many instructors in the manor. Why didn’t he ask them? Why does he have to come to you?” Wenren Suo said with dissatisfaction.
“I think he just wants to show off in front of you.”
“Enough,” Wenren Jingshi snorted coldly. “I know what I’m doing with Tianming. His cultivation issues can’t be solved by just anyone. You’re all part of the same clan. You need to learn to get along. If anyone dares start in-fighting, I won’t show mercy. This kind of precedent cannot be set!”
Hearing this, Wenren Suo pouted but didn’t argue further.
Grandpa’s words were absolute law in the Wenren Clan. He also knew his grandfather was very strict about certain matters.
Xu Zimo glanced at the youth named Wenren Tianming. He hadn’t spoken a word this entire time and hadn’t even looked at Wenren Suo, as if completely ignoring him.
In his past life, Xu Zimo hadn’t paid much attention to his mother’s side of the Clan, so he didn’t know much about them.
“Momo, since you’re here, enjoy your time,” Wenren Jingshi turned and smiled at Xu Zimo.
“We’re all Clan, so I won’t say much. If anything comes up, talk to your cousin Suo. If you’re still unhappy, come straight to Grandpa.”
Xu Zimo nodded.
Seeing Wenren Suo still looking like he wanted to say something, he quickly pulled him out of the room.
After they left the Serenity Pavilion, Wenren Suo still seemed upset.
“Cousin, why’d you stop me just now? That Wenren Tianming is just a branch descendant. Does Grandpa really think he’s more important than his own grandson?”
“Cut the nonsense. Just tell me, what’s the deal with this Wenren Tianming?” Xu Zimo asked.
“What else? He’s from a side branch but has good talent, so Grandpa kept him close,” Wenren Suo said with frustration.
“What’s that got to do with you? You act like you two are sworn enemies,” Xu Zimo laughed.
“Not enemies… I just can’t stand the guy,” Wenren Suo muttered.
Xu Zimo smiled, seeing through him. There was clearly a grudge there, but since Wenren Suo didn’t want to explain, Xu Zimo didn’t push it.
...
Wenren Suo’s residence had several rooms. He arranged for Xu Zimo to stay next door.
The courtyard was large, surrounded by lush trees that blocked off the outer wall from view.
Several rare spirit trees grew within the courtyard.
After preparing the room, Wenren Suo grinned mischievously and said, “Cousin, I’ll take you to a nice place. You’ve finally made it to Phoenix Wing City. I can’t let you leave without having some fun.”
Xu Zimo nodded. He had nothing else to do anyway, so he didn’t mind.
The two left the Wenren residence and headed north along the main street of the eastern district. Phoenix Wing City truly lived up to its name as one of the great cities of the Northern Continent.
Never mind the size, the prosperity alone surpassed most other cities.
After walking for about ten minutes, they reached a large plaza.
Flowers and fountains decorated its perimeter, and in the center stood a statue.
The statue was of a man, carved with striking realism.
At a glance, he appeared to shoulder the heavens, with an awe-inspiring presence like the sea.
He wore a purple robe, and his eyes were piercing. Even as a statue, one could feel as though he saw through your soul.
People passed by from time to time, bowing to the statue with respect and reverence.
“Who is that?” Xu Zimo asked curiously.
Wenren Suo was silent for a moment, then answered, “The Heaven Prison Emperor, the founder of the Wan Clan.”
Xu Zimo had heard of him. He was an ancient emperor who bore the Heaven’s Will even earlier than Grand Emperor San Dao.
Though the Wan Clan was an imperial lineage, their Grand Emperor had appeared long ago, and in recent generations, their descendants lacked strength.
No new emperor had risen, and the lineage had declined.
Otherwise, even the Wenren Clan wouldn’t dare confront them directly.
It was said the founding of the Phoenix Perch Empire owed much to the Wan Clan.
That’s why statues of the Heaven Prison Emperor were erected in all four corners of Phoenix Wing City.
Xu Zimo looked at the statue deeply, then continued walking with Wenren Suo.
They passed through several narrow alleys and eventually came to a quiet street.
Shops lined both sides, but the area felt out of place with the rest of the bustling city.
“This is Heaven-Jade Street,” Wenren Suo explained with a smile, seeing Xu Zimo’s confused look.
“The shops here sell high-end goods. Ordinary people can’t afford them, which is why it’s so quiet. Basically, it’s a street for the wealthy.”
“Then why bring me here?” Xu Zimo asked.
“Just follow me,” Wenren Suo laughed slyly and headed down the street.
Xu Zimo followed, glancing at the shops. They sold all kinds of rare goods, elixirs, weapons, even secret techniques and manuals.
Judging from the decoration alone, these were all top-tier items.
When they reached the middle of the street, Wenren Suo stopped.
He tilted his head toward a nearby pavilion.
Xu Zimo looked over and saw the sign that read “Feather Porch Pavilion.”
The calligraphy was graceful and elegant, evoking a sense of floating mist.
“What’s this place?” Xu Zimo asked.
“What do you think?” Wenren Suo grinned, giving that classic look every man understands.
“This isn’t a brothel, is it?” Xu Zimo asked, speechless.
“Can you not make it sound so vulgar?” Wenren Suo replied. “People have emotions and desires, it’s normal. Don’t act all saintly with me.”
“I’m really not into that,” Xu Zimo said, shaking his head.
“What do you mean ‘that’? This is just a relaxed place to enjoy music and food. Don’t overthink it,” Wenren Suo threw his arm around Xu Zimo’s shoulder and dragged him inside.
He added with a sly smile, “But if you do have other needs, they’ll take care of them too.”
Xu Zimo glared at him but didn’t argue.
“You got money?” Wenren Suo asked.
Xu Zimo looked at him in disbelief and said, “Don’t tell me the great young master of the Wenren clan doesn’t even have money for a meal.
And I’m the guest, should I really be treating you?”
“Family’s strict,” Wenren Suo chuckled. “Next time it’s on me. I promise.”
The two laughed and walked into Feather Porch Pavilion together.
