I Really Am A Villain -
Ch. 427 - Journey To The Sea Serpent Race
A powerful pressure spread out from Xu Zimo’s eyes.
The pressure was incredibly domineering.
In his pupils, a storm of thunderclouds raged, and crackling sounds echoed faintly.
Faint purple arcs of lightning flickered.
Finally, when everything reached a critical point,
Xu Zimo's aura erupted with a loud "boom."
His eyes were filled with dazzling brilliance.
Two purple bolts of lightning shot out like a raging torrent, unstoppable and destructive.
These thunderbolts carried world-shattering power.
This was the first-level attack of the Heavenly Tribulation God-Eyes: Nine Heavens Thunder.
When the thunder came crashing down, sweeping the surroundings, the guards couldn't resist at all.
The thunder shattered the void, rumbling loudly in their ears.
The surrounding guards didn’t even have time to react before being completely wiped out.
“We need to get out of here,” Blood Butcher said in a low voice to Luo Xiongying, then quickly turned to flee.
“Think you can escape?” Xu Zimo said with a slight laugh.
Thunder burst from his eyes again, tearing through the void. The speed was lightning fast, almost impossible to defend against.
Thunder roared with sonic booms.
Blood Butcher realized the thunder was far too fast for him to dodge.
He quickly summoned the skull to shield himself.
Luo Xiongying also seized the moment to hide behind Blood Butcher.
Boom!
It was like the sky was pierced open. Shockwaves of wind spread in all directions from above.
Cracking sounds echoed as space began to split apart.
Once things calmed down, the skull had been shattered into dust.
Blood Butcher and Luo Xiongying were both half-kneeling on the ground, with blood all over the floor.
Xu Zimo released his Immortal-Suppression Chain, tied the two up, and slammed them heavily to the ground.
“I’m the city lord of Brightsky City! How could you help these beasts?” Luo Xiongying shouted at Xu Zimo.
“Do you want to go against the Celestial Tiger Empire?”
“You’re still talking tough?” Xu Zimo stomped on his chest.
Luo Xiongying screamed in pain, spat out a mouthful of blood, and his face turned extremely pale.
“What do you want?” Blood Butcher remained calm and looked at Xu Zimo. “There’s no grudge between us, right? Whatever it is you want, just name it.”
“Too bad, what I want isn’t something you can give,” Xu Zimo shook his head.
Then he turned to Liu Changfeng and said, “They’re yours to deal with.”
Liu Changfeng paused, then looked at Xu Zimo gratefully and nodded heavily.
He walked up to the two men, his expression unreadable, full of mixed emotions.
But above all, there was hatred and rage.
“Let me go, and from now on, Brightsky City and the Sea Serpent Race will never interfere with each other,” Blood Butcher said to Liu Changfeng.
“Yes! Otherwise, even if you kill me, the empire will just send another city lord. Your Sea Serpent Race will still be a target,” Luo Xiongying added quickly.
“If I don’t kill you, how can I face the clansmen who died?” Liu Changfeng asked coldly.
Xu Zimo didn’t pay attention to what was happening behind him. He turned and calmly walked toward the city gate.
Soon after, in the distance behind him, inhuman screams echoed.
The cries came one after another, chilling to the bone.
It was hard to imagine how much pain the owners of those screams were suffering.
At the city gate, Xu Zimo didn’t wait long before Liu Changfeng slowly came out.
His expression was heavy, and he didn’t say a word.
“Is it done?” Xu Zimo asked.
Liu Changfeng nodded. After a long silence, he looked at Xu Zimo and said, “What’s the point of killing them? It doesn’t bring back my people. It feels meaningless.”
“At least you got revenge,” Xu Zimo said flatly.
“Thank you,” Liu Changfeng nodded slightly.
“No need. We each had our reasons,” Xu Zimo replied.
The two continued speaking as they walked toward the Setting Sun River.
Under Liu Changfeng’s guidance, they followed the river upstream.
The sky gradually brightened, and light appeared in the east.
The morning air was fresh, with a chilly breeze blowing from time to time.
On the way, both men were quiet.
Xu Zimo had nothing to say, while Liu Changfeng seemed to still be grieving his race's loss.
“Did you know? Our Sea Serpent Race used to live peacefully in this river.”
After a long while, Liu Changfeng finally looked up at Xu Zimo.
He spoke lightly, as if he were telling a story, or confiding in Xu Zimo.
“Everything changed after that man named Luo Xiongying became the city lord. This river wasn’t originally called Setting Sun River, it was just an ordinary river. But he wanted to make Brightsky City famous and earn credit from the empire. So he secretly developed a type of powder that could project illusions. At sunset, he would use spiritforce to project the space, and combine it with that illusion powder. That’s how the so-called ‘Setting Sun River spectacle’ was created.”
Xu Zimo listened quietly and nodded without interrupting.
Liu Changfeng paused again, then continued.
“Our nightmare began with that. The powder is highly toxic. It polluted the entire river, making it uninhabitable. Outwardly, everything looked fine, but to us Sea Serpents, who have lived here for generations, it was deadly. My father, the previous Sea Serpent King, died after accidentally ingesting that powder.”
“So that’s why you wanted to massacre the city,” Xu Zimo said. “What about after? What do you plan to do?”
Xu Zimo understood that although Luo Xiongying was dead, the Celestial Tiger Empire would eventually send someone else to take his place.
Even if the new city lord knew about the powder’s secret, they probably wouldn’t stop using it.
After all, it was the spectacle of the Setting Sun River that made Brightsky City known.
Otherwise, in a world filled with countless cities, who would care about one nameless place?
...
“I don’t know yet. I’ll discuss it with the remaining clansmen,” Liu Changfeng shook his head.
As they spoke, the sky became fully bright.
Liu Changfeng led Xu Zimo to a specific spot upstream.
A large tree grew by the riverbank, and the river wasn’t particularly fast.
“This is the place,” Liu Changfeng said as he placed his right hand on the tree’s trunk.
After a moment of silence, a beam of light shot from the tree into the river.
The water began to ripple, and the sound of flowing water echoed all around.
