I Really Am A Villain
Ch. 425 - Liu Changfeng's Escape

"Do you have any other choice?" Wen Liangong said calmly.

"Even if you kill me, I won’t tell you anything," Liu Changfeng replied with a calm gaze.

Wen Liangong clearly didn’t have much patience. He controlled the skull and slammed its large hand down hard.

"Then go die!" he shouted.

As the skull’s bone claw came down, it was incredibly sharp, tearing apart the surrounding space.

At that moment, a figure suddenly leapt from the side.

"My king, run!"

That figure blocked in front of Liu Changfeng and was pierced through the chest by the skull’s claw.

Blood scattered in the air.

Right after, more and more sea serpents leapt forward, clearing a path for Liu Changfeng.

"My king, run! As long as you live, we still have hope!"

Amid the howls of the sea serpents, the waves around surged violently.

The evil skull cut through them like cutting grass. Countless sea serpents died miserably under its feet.

Seeing this, Liu Changfeng’s eyes widened in rage.

He let out a furious roar and transformed into a purple sea serpent.

Mist began to rise from his originally purple skin.

Within the mist, spiritforce surged, and rumbling sounds came from deep within the space.

Then the mist enveloped the area.

Liu Changfeng’s figure gradually disappeared into the purple mist.

Just before vanishing, he cast a sorrowful and deeply hateful look at Wen Liangong.

Wen Liangong frowned. The skull immediately flew after him, trying to kill Liu Changfeng.

But the mist was strange, once the skull entered, it couldn’t sense anything.

Then the mist started to spread further.

"Old Wen, what is that?" Luo Xiongying flew over and asked, looking at the purple mist with confusion.

"This sea serpent must be a mutation. That was its mutated innate ability just now. If I’m not mistaken, this purple mist can block all senses," Wen Liangong said after some thought.

Luo Xiongying looked anxious and quickly said, "Old Wen, we can’t let it escape! If weeds aren’t cleared completely, they’ll grow again in spring. The Sea Serpent Clan in the Sunset River is already a huge threat. We finally lured them out. We can’t let it all go to waste!"

"Don’t worry, it can’t escape," Wen Liangong snorted coldly, speaking with a calm gaze.

"The mist has a limited range. It won’t get out of the city. Have your men close the gates. No one goes in or out. Then search the entire city. Dig three feet deep if you have to, but find it."

"I’ll leave it to you, Old Wen," Luo Xiongying said with a smile.

"Don’t forget what you promised me," Wen Liangong looked at Luo Xiongying and said with a warning tone.

"I understand, absolutely," Luo Xiongying nodded quickly.

...

The purple mist stopped spreading when it reached the center of the south gate.

Clearly, this was Liu Changfeng’s limit.

Luo Xiongying then ordered people to guard all four city gates, sealing the city and forbidding entry or exit.

A massive search began within the city.

Blood Butcher Wen Liangong remained stationed in the sky above Brightsky City, overseeing everything.

Any disturbance in the city would immediately be noticed by him.

As night gradually fell, due to the day's events, many people didn’t dare stay outside.

As soon as it got dark, they returned to their homes.

A bright full moon hung in the sky. In the dark corners, insects chirped.

Compared to the deserted streets, the city’s taverns were lively.

Besides a few who came to eat, most were idle folks gossiping about news from all over the land.

So much had happened in Brightsky City today that more people than usual came to chat.

Xu Zimo, like always, ordered a pot of wine and some simple food.

He found a window seat and listened to the conversations around him.

"Our city lord is ruthless, using his own daughter as bait."

"It’s funny how we were so foolish, thinking the city lord was really holding a contest to choose a husband."

"Whatever, none of us got the ball anyway. The one who actually caught it must be the most heartbroken, turns out it was all a show."

"Why would the Sea Serpent Race attack our Brightsky City? We didn’t provoke them. Now they’re paying the price."

"Keep your voice down. I heard some sea serpents are still hiding in the city. The city lord is conducting a full search. You better be careful."

Listening to the chatter, Xu Zimo found it mildly entertaining.

The Sea Serpent Race, Brightsky City, none of it mattered to him.

He just wanted to wait for the teleportation array to be repaired and head to the Bright Moon Empire.

After finishing his wine, Xu Zimo slowly returned to his room.

In the darkness, as he opened the door, he immediately sensed something was off.

There was the smell of blood, mixed with a strong fishy odor.

He walked into the room and closed the door behind him.

Then he lit the room’s lamp.

As the room brightened, he saw a blood-covered figure lying on the floor.

The person was soaked in blood, and it kept pouring out of him.

His body trembled slightly.

The smell of blood was intense.

Xu Zimo frowned as he looked at the scene before him.

The person’s face was so stained with blood it was unrecognizable.

But Xu Zimo remembered the aura, it was the same black-robed young man he had met in the tree today.

He seemed to be called Liu Changfeng.

"Sea Serpent Race," Xu Zimo muttered under his breath.

He had guessed the person wasn’t human back then, but didn’t think much of it.

He examined him and saw that the injuries were severe.

Though the man had a high cultivation level, recovering on his own would be difficult.

His life image had been seriously damaged, and without its help, recovery would be hard.

Xu Zimo thought for a moment. The Sea Serpent member everyone at the inn had been talking about must be Liu Changfeng.

Xu Zimo didn’t want to get involved, this had nothing to do with him.

Still, he channeled green spiritforce through his right hand, borrowing the power of the Tree of Life, and gave Liu Changfeng a basic treatment.

...

Liu Changfeng slowly opened his eyes. His head throbbed as if it would explode.

His whole body was weak, even slight movement was difficult.

He had never been so seriously injured in his life.

The view before him was blurry, but he could tell he was leaning against a chair.

It was quiet around him, so it seemed he hadn’t been caught by the city lord’s men.

At that thought, he finally let out a breath.

His blurry vision gradually cleared.
