I Really Am A Villain -
Ch. 408 - Each On Their Own Path
At that moment, looking into Yue Qingli’s eyes, Xu Zimo was slightly moved.
They were eyes he had never seen before.
They couldn't be described with words.
Burning, resolute, and yet deep and still, like a pool of dead water without a single ripple.
But within that dead water, there seemed to be an unimaginable terror.
Xu Zimo could feel the silent, desperate madness in Yue Qingli's heart.
"Let’s go to Slaughter City," Xu Zimo nodded and said calmly. "I’ll teach you what needs to be taught. How far you go in the future is up to you."
Yue Qingli nodded. Just as the two were about to leave Three-Eyed Mountain and head north toward Slaughter City, a group of men in black suddenly appeared at the foot of the mountain and blocked their way.
These black-clothed men were covered head to toe, even their faces were veiled.
"Looks like the boss was right, there really are some fish that slipped through the net," the leader said with a sinister smile.
"Who are you?" Yue Qingli frowned and asked coldly.
"You’ll find out in hell, your fellow tribesmen will tell you," the black-clothed man sneered.
Then he raised his hand, and the group charged toward Xu Zimo and Yue Qingli.
These men were mostly at the Paragon Meridian Realm, a decent level for ordinary people. But in front of Xu Zimo, it was nothing.
"So, you're the ones who slaughtered my Three-Eyed Race?" Yue Qingli shouted angrily.
Xu Zimo looked up at them and casually waved his hand. The might of the Empyrean Meridian Realm burst forth from his body.
A mighty pressure descended from the sky.
Before the black-clothed men could react, they felt an overwhelming weight crush them, freezing them in place.
Even their spiritforce stopped circulating.
They stared at Xu Zimo in horror, realizing they had encountered a powerhouse.
"Who sent you? Why did you massacre my tribe?" Yue Qingli walked up to the leader and tore off his mask.
The face revealed was completely unfamiliar.
The others just scoffed, turning their heads away, refusing to speak.
"Kill them. They won’t talk," Xu Zimo said calmly from the side.
He could tell these people had been trained and wouldn’t spill secrets, even under threat of death.
"Kill us, and you won’t live long either. The organization will find you," the man sneered.
As soon as he finished speaking, muffled booms came from his body.
He detonated all his meridian gates, committing suicide. His body collapsed like a pile of mud.
The rest of the black-clothed men followed suit, all committing suicide the same way.
Seeing this, Yue Qingli's eyes narrowed. These people were merciless even to themselves.
"This wasn’t just a conflict. It was an organized massacre," Xu Zimo said.
Their appearance confirmed what he had seen in the river of time, and some of his suspicions.
"I don’t care who they are," Yue Qingli said coldly. "Demons, ghosts, monsters, it doesn’t matter. One day, I’ll make them all pay."
"You still have a long road ahead," Xu Zimo said with a faint smile.
Yue Qingli didn’t find any useful evidence on the bodies, so the two continued on toward the capital of the Slaughter Empire, Slaughter City.
…
Spring had arrived. Everything was coming back to life.
The spring breeze, accompanied by the chirping of birds, echoed across the far west.
The trees on both sides were lush and green, willow branches swaying in the wind.
Baili Xiao walked out of the True Martial Sacred Ground.
She had already obtained the Soaring Immortal Physique left behind by her master.
Sacred Lord Xiao had also verbally agreed that the True Martial Sacred Ground would support her in competing for the Heaven's Will in this generation.
With the legacy left by her past self and the full support of the Baili Imperial Clan, she was progressing rapidly and had just entered the Imperial Meridian Realm.
The Eastern Continent no longer held much appeal for her. She decided to head to the Middle Continent.
She figured the Heaven's Will would take shape in a few hundred years, and she had to grow stronger quickly.
"You promised me. When will you take revenge for me?" Baili Xiao asked anxiously.
Lin Yuqing replied calmly, "That Xu Zimo rarely shows up at the Sacred Ground. His whereabouts are a mystery. To get revenge, we have to know our enemy well. No matter what, he’s still the Holy Son of the True Martial Sacred Ground. We can’t take this lightly."
"What are you saying then?" Baili Xiao asked.
"I’ve already sent the Baili Imperial Clan to search for his whereabouts. Next time we meet, it’ll be the day he dies," Lin Yuqing said, her eyes sharp and her tone calm.
But within that calm voice was boundless killing intent.
"If you lie to me again, even if I die, I won’t let you off easy," Baili Xiao said angrily.
…
Meanwhile, in a hidden corner of the Eastern Continent, Tan Jiulin emerged from her cultivation.
She had completely fused with her second Battle Physique, the Army Breaker Imperial Physique, and could use it skillfully now.
It was also time for her to advance into the Imperial Meridian Realm.
The Imperial Meridian Realm corresponded to the sixth meridian gate, Duskpine.
Opening this gate meant her second major circulation of spiritforce could begin.
But her current foundation wasn’t solid enough. She needed more experience before attempting the breakthrough.
She decided to say goodbye to her master and set off again.
Previously, the Evil God List had led her to this place, where she met the Sage who created the list and gifted her the second Battle Physique pearl.
She had eventually accepted the Sage as her master.
When Tan Jiulin arrived at the waterfall nearby, she saw a white-robed old man standing before it with his hands behind his back.
His aura was relaxed, like a figure of mist, ethereal and otherworldly.
"Master," Tan Jiulin greeted respectfully.
"I know what you’re thinking. Go on, the outside world is far more exciting. This clone of mine came here just to teach you. I’ve taught you everything I can," the old man said with a smile.
"I only hope you remember your mission. When the day of the Demontide comes, I hope you’ll be able to hold your own. Slay demons and save the world, that’s all I ask after placing so much hope in you."
"Master, I will," Tan Jiulin nodded firmly.
…
Elsewhere, on a remote and uninhabited island deep in the Endless Sky Sea, a young man sat in silence at the center of the island.
Endless godly fire slowly spread from his body.
No one knew what level this flame was, but nothing could grow where it touched.
Nothing could stop it.
The entire island was engulfed in scarlet flames, and the surrounding sea began to boil.
Jiang Mochou slowly looked up.
