Chapter 85: 【078】Temporary Conclusion

He didn’t know how long he had slept. When Wang Longhu slowly opened his eyes, he saw that everything around him was pure white.

White walls, white sheets, white ceiling.

The air was filled with a faint smell of diluted disinfectant.

"You’re awake?"

A voice filled with some joy suddenly came from beside his ear. Wang Longhu turned his head, just to see Hong Wentai, dressed in blue and white striped hospital clothes, with several layers of gauze bandaging his head, slowly savoring an apple.

"Master Hong, you’re still alive." Wang Longhu calmed himself, saying hoarsely.

"What are you saying? If anyone is to die, it would be Guo Yansong before me. He was hurt far worse than I was, nearly had his guts ripped out," Hong Wentai said irritably, scrolling through Douyin with one hand.

The name Guo Yansong initially didn’t ring a bell for Wang Longhu, but he quickly realized Hong Wentai was referring to the big monk’s real name.

Both of them had known each other for years at the Wen City Martial Arts Association, so they must have known each other’s identities.

"After I passed out, what happened?" Wang Longhu supported himself as he sat up from the bed, only to discover he was covered in bandages, which wrapped around nearly 90% of his upper body.

Even as a master of Dark Force, his body was still human flesh and blood. Wang Longhu persisted until the end, winning the final victory.

But single-handedly killing nearly twenty martial artists, all armed with deadly weapons, his own outcome was hardly better.

According to Wang Longhu’s own count, he should have received over thirty knife wounds at the time. Luckily, his evasion skills were better than the big monk’s. Although he got cut, not a single strike hit a vital point, allowing him to survive until Tian Li was killed.

"The mountain road leading to the top of Chang Keng was blocked with logs, surely done by those people deliberately. Old Qin seeing the situation was wrong, led people to hike up the mountain to help. Unfortunately, they came a bit too late, only in time to clear up the aftermath." Hong Wentai shrugged, "We really owe it all to you. If it wasn’t for your intervention, Guo Yansong and I would probably never have left that night alive."

Although Hong Wentai was also involved in the battle, he was quickly knocked out by Nalan Lei, making him the least injured among the trio with Wang Longhu.

"And the big monk?" Wang Longhu asked.

"He’s seriously injured, staying in a different ward than us, still in a coma." Hong Wentai threw the apple core into the trash bin, stretched, and leaned against the pillow with a look full of longing for the beauty of being alive.

After experiencing such a deadly battle, anyone would have deep reflections and cherish the value of life more after surviving.

Wang Longhu got out of bed and went to the window. The familiar street view outside made him realize that he was still in Dong County.

Who would have thought that this usually peaceful little island, always so tranquil and harmonious, would have experienced such a shocking event in secret?

Tat-tat-tat!

A gentle knocking sound came from outside the hospital room door, and then a middle-aged policeman entered. Wang Longhu recognized this familiar face; it was Policeman Qin Tong, the officer who had taken him for questioning after the fight at the Banping Mountain Residence.

"Oho, you’re awake. Young people really recover quickly, already able to walk around," Qin Tong said with a smile, carrying a file bag as he walked in.

"Hello." Wang Longhu quickly greeted.

"This incident of yours is no small matter. Luckily, it happened in an isolated area at Chang Keng’s top, which was easy to handle. The news could be sealed off conveniently; otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to manage it. If it leaked out, it would have been the biggest news in Dong County in fifty years."

Qin Tong took out some papers from the file bag and read to Wang Longhu and Hong Wentai: "Yu Tianli, a former Flower Hall lord of the Outer Eight Halls of Hongmen in Hong Kong, fled to Southeast Asia a few years ago for some crimes. This time, he somehow sneaked back into the country with firearms, which is a very serious matter."

"Hongmen?" Wang Longhu was a bit surprised.

The big monk had long told him about the martial artist forces hidden in Dong County, like the Chao Gang in Guangdong Province, but none included Hongmen. The sudden emergence of Hongmen was indeed a bit strange.

"We are conducting an in-depth investigation into this matter. Unfortunately, you killed all the martial artists present, leaving no one to question," Qin Tong sighed.

"There was no other choice. If I hadn’t dealt with them all, it would surely have been me who ended up dead." Wang Longhu said calmly, with no hint of regret.

In that situation, the big monk couldn’t possibly contend with four martial artists alone, and if Wang Longhu hadn’t killed them, these foreign martial artists who had been hiding in Dong County for many years with extremist tendencies would have continued fighting tooth and nail. They wouldn’t have easily given up.

They would have surely watched from the shadows for any chance to strike, and if Wang Longhu had collapsed from exhaustion, the consequences could have been disastrous.

Mercy towards the enemy is cruelty to oneself, so Wang Longhu had no regrets about his actions to this day.

"Upon investigation, we discovered that every martial artist who participated in the assault last night received a large sum of money in their bank accounts from a debit card under Tian Li’s name. We have reason to believe this was an organized activity. Until we fully understand who is behind it all, I hope you both do not leave Dong County to avoid any unforeseen incidents." Qin Tong reminded.

"Of course, the typhoon hasn’t passed yet, and the cross-sea dam is closed. We couldn’t leave the island even if we wanted to," Hong Wentai chuckled.

Hearing Qin Tong’s words, Wang Longhu furrowed his brows slightly. It seemed the matter was not truly resolved yet, and Tian Li appeared to be just a minor piece of the puzzle, with the real mastermind still at large.

After exchanging a few more words with Wang Longhu and Hong Wentai, Qin Tong left, as he had to check on the big monk’s condition.

The big monk and Hong Wentai had been in Dong County for many years, tasked with monitoring the foreign martial artists. Their relationship with Officer Qin Tong was good, almost like friends.

Once Qin Tong left, Wang Longhu immediately and cautiously asked in a low voice, "Master Hong, those two secret techniques...?"

"Shh, they don’t know about them. Guo Yansong has already hidden them in advance, without revealing anything." Hong Wentai winked and promptly replied.

Wang Longhu immediately breathed a sigh of relief. If the Marrow Cleansing Scripture and Virgin Boy Skill fell into Qin Tong’s hands, it would be incredibly difficult to retrieve them.

These two secret techniques were the source of the vortex in Dong County. As long as they don’t appear, most people would treat them as just stories and wouldn’t bother with them.

Once they surface, they would surely have to be handed over to the country to prevent any further incidents.

Wang Longhu, the big monk, and Hong Wentai had not yet comprehended the Marrow Cleansing Scripture, so naturally, none of them would be willing to hand it over at this moment. Otherwise, all their life-or-death struggles would have been for nothing.

Turning his back, Wang Longhu summoned the panel. When he saw the changes on it, his expression instantly turned to one of utter shock.

"How could it be..."
