I Married My Ex's Billionaire Father -
Chapter 57: Kidnapped II
Chapter 57: Kidnapped II
Brooke sat at her vanity, a smug smile playing on her lips while Lottie stared at her.
"What was that about?" She asked.
The call with Lyse had been unexpectedly cut short mid-conversation and they had heard a strange noise in the background, a muffled shout, followed by a dead line.
"I don’t know, who cares we’ve got what we need." Brooke said gleefully and a smile lit up Lottie’s face.
"It seems that whore does not even know who she got married to, but how possible is that?"
"Maybe she was intoxicated out of her mind, it would make sense that after such a humiliating experience she would want to numb her pain and she ended up married." Brooke reasoned. "Whatever the reason is, the absence of a name makes it even easier for us."
A surge of excitement coursed through her. This was exactly what she had been waiting for. A weakness, a vulnerability that she could use this to her advantage, to push Lyse further into danger.
Brooke was determined to expose Lyse, to reveal her true nature. She would use any means necessary, no matter the cost. And now, with this new information, she was one giant step closer to her goal.
A sinister grin spread across her face. She just needed to be patient and create a build up until it was time to strike. The results would be glorious.

Levi was a man consumed by a single, all-consuming thought: finding Lyse. He paced back and forth in his office, his mind racing. Lyse’s disappearance had sent shockwaves through him.
He could not shake the feeling that something seriously sinister was afoot and unfortunately, his trip to Bret’s hotel room had been a failure and all that he had to show for it was a split lip and an aching jaw.
He could not involve the police, if he did the press would be all over the place and who knows how the kidnapper would take that? There had also been no call demanding for ransom. It was as if Lyse had just vanished into thin air. The silence was deafening, the uncertainty unbearable.
"Any new leads, Alex?" Levi asked, his voice barely a whisper.
Alex, shook his head. He had been on it immediately Levi had informed him of the situation. "We have been scouring the entire city, sir. But there is no sign of her. It’s almost as if she’s disappeared into thin air."
"We need to think outside the box," Levi insisted. "We need to look at the people closest to her, the people who might have a motive to hurt her. If she had been taken for money then I would have already gotten a call by now."
Alex nodded, his eyes narrowing. "I already have a team working on it, sir. We are checking her social media, her emails, everything."
Meanwhile, Joel who was filled with guilt was busy trying to piece together the puzzle. He had been reviewing the CCTV footage which they had gotten from the area where Lyse was last seen. And then he saw it - a flash of a familiar face.
In a chilling turn of events, Lyse was approached by the man from behind. Joel watched as the man administered a syringe, and when Lyse collapsed he held her in her arms.
It was Max. The same man who had tried to run Lyse off the road just a little while ago. The same man who had a history of violence towards women.
A chill ran down Joel’s spine. Max had dodged the police and instead of going far away he had remained and lurked around, he had probably taken Lyse because he believed that she was responsible for his misfortune.
Joel immediately contacted Alex, sharing his suspicions. Alex was intrigued. Max’s past behavior, his volatile nature, it all fit the profile of a potential kidnapper.
Levi, upon hearing about Max, was filled with a rage he had not felt in years. He knew that Max was a dangerous man but he had not realized that he was this desperate and capable of anything. He knew they would have to act fast if they wanted to save Lyse.
He called in more people, private investigators, experts in tracking down missing persons. He gave very specific instructions: find Max. Find Lyse alive. No matter the cost.
They immediately swung into action, seeking every bit of information they could find on Max. Alex and the rest of the team, driven by a relentless pursuit thanks to the passing time, delved deeper into Max’s past. They uncovered a crucial piece of information: Max had once worked at an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city.
Armed with this new lead, the team descended upon the dilapidated factory. The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the shadows seemed to dance ominously. As they explored the crumbling structure, they found evidence that Lyse had been there.
There beside an upturned chair which had ropes beside it, was a colorful scarf which looked exactly like the one which had been around Lyse’s neck in the CCTV video.
The fact that it was there on the floor was proof that they were on the right track, if they had come a little sooner then maybe they would have caught Max and rescued Lyse.
The discovery fueled their determination. They knew that they were getting closer. Max could not hide forever. They would find him, and they would bring Lyse back.
The team intensified their efforts, scouring every inch of the city, every dark alley, every abandoned building. They worked tirelessly, driven by a sense of urgency and a commitment to justice.
Each passing hour brought them closer to the truth, closer to the moment when they would finally rescue Lyse from Max’s clutches. The race to find Lyse intensified. They were all on edge, their fear palpable. But Levi refused to give up hope. He swore that he would find her, no matter what.
