I Married My Ex's Billionaire Father -
Chapter 51: The Press Conference
Chapter 51: The Press Conference
"Why did you keep this marriage secret? Is it because you were supposed to marry a different man not too long ago?" Another reporter asked.
"How did you meet Mr Van Doren?" A different reporter asked.
"I would prefer it if the questions were kept strictly on the subject at hand which is my new fashion house." Lyse said firmly.
"Do you intend on applying for the Golden Fleece competition for fashion designers this year?" A reporter asked.
"Absolutely." Lyse said, "This will be my first time applying and I hope I am able to make my fashion house proud."
Unknown to the world, even though it would be Lyse’s first time applying, it would not be the first time her work was going to be applying. Her mother had coerced her into letting Brooke apply for the competition with her own work.
Another report got to his feet and asked, "Are you aware that you sister Brooke will be representing House of Sun in the Golden Fleece competition and since she had already won before are you not worried?"
Lyse smiled calmly, seemingly unperturbed by this news. "I had no knowledge of that but I wish Brooke and all other contestants good luck. The point of a competition is to see the best and I am certain we will see that."
"Mrs Van Doren will be taking only two more questions please." Lyse’s manager said and pointed to one of the reporters.
"Apparently, there has been a lot of friction between you and your half sister Brooke. How do you think it will affect your conduct at the Golden Fleece competition?"
Lyse demurely moved hair from her face as answered, "I am a professional and I believe that Brooke is also a professional, I believe that should answer your question."
"Mrs Van Doren, do you still hold any resentment towards Brandon Marlowe? After all he dumped you for your sister and gave your position as creative director in House of Sun to her."
Lyse stared the reporter straight in the eye, "Do I look like someone who has time to hold resentment over someone from my past?" She asked. "I have a husband who is willing to move mountains just to help me fulfill my dreams, that is winning. And when you are winning you don’t have time to think about things that not to your benefit."
With that answer Lyse got up from the table and the reporters all spoke at the same time, trying to get her to answer one more of their questions.

*ARRRGGGGHHH!!!"
Sutton turned and snatched a paperweight off the table and violently threw it against the television screen, causing a massive crack and distortion of the images on the screen before it went black.
Her husband came running into the living room and stopped at the door, startled. When he saw Sutton hyperventilating as she stood in front of the television which had a whisp of smoke rising from it, he hurried to her side.
"What is wrong darling? What happened?" He asked in concern as he placed his hands on her shoulders and tried to find out the cause of her distress.
"DON’T TOUCH MEEE!" Sutton screeched so loudly like a banshee that Albert feared that his ear drums would explode.
He quickly backed away from her and watched as she continued to look at the blank television while breathing heavily. Then as if suddenly awoken from a sort of paralysis, she turned and shoved Albert out of her way before picking up her car keys and running out the door.
"Darling, where are you going?" Albert called out helplessly but Sutton did not stop.
Fury ignited within her as she remembered that Lyse had been addressed as Mrs Van Doren. How could he? How could he marry that woman, the one that had not even been good enough for Brandon? A wave of anger washed over her, and she stormed out of the house, her mind racing.
She drove to Levi’s office building, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. The familiar skyscraper loomed before her, a symbol of Levi’s wealth and power. She marched into the building, her footsteps echoing in the grand lobby and when she got to his office and his stupid secretary tried to stop her she eyed her fiercely and she backed away.
She stormed into Levi’s office, her face flushed with anger. The press conference replaying in her mind, the image of Lyse telling the reporters that she was Levi’s wife was a stark betrayal.
When she finally reached Levi’s office, she burst through the door, her face flushed with rage. "How could you?" she demanded, her voice trembling.
"Should I call security sir?" The secretary who stood hovering at the door asked and Levi waved her away.
"Don’t worry about that, I will deal with this."
"You married her? The same woman your own son could not stand?"
Levi, seated behind his sleek, modern desk, looked up calmly. "Are you ready to acknowledge to the world that he is my son?"
When her gaze faltered for a moment Levi nodded.
"I expected that." He said, his tone flat. "I suggest that you leave before you make a scene or I am forced to get security."
Sutton was taken aback by his indifference. "You can’t just marry someone like that! Don’t you care about what people are going to think?"
Levi leaned forward, his eyes boring into hers. "People’s opinions mean nothing to me, Sutton. And you, even less. You should be well aware of that by now."
The words hung in the air, heavy and cold. Sutton felt a pang of hurt, a reminder of the love she once thought they shared. But she refused to be defeated.
"You are going to regret this, Levi," she vowed, her voice rising. "You will regret hurting me and your own son like this."
With that, she turned and stormed out of the office, leaving Levi alone with his thoughts. As she walked away, she swore hell and brimstone on Lyse. She was going to make that little girl’s life miserable.
