Chapter 198: What Made Him A Successful Businessman

The first rays of sunlight peeked through the curtains, painting the room in a soft, golden hue and hitting Lyse. Ahe stirred, her eyelids fluttering open. She stretched, a small groan escaping her lips, and then froze as she felt the ache in her body parts.

Levi lay beside her, his arm draped possessively across her waist, his handsome face relaxed in sleep. A wave of warmth spread through her as she remembered the events of the previous night, the intimate dinner, the dance, the proposal, how he had carried her inside and... everything that had followed. A blush crept up her neck and onto her cheeks as vivid images flashed through her mind.

She had never felt so...uninhibited, so free. Levi had awakened a part of her she had not known existed and everytime he awed her with how he made her go crazy. As much as she wanted to lay back and enjoy the feeling of Levi’s body against hers, she knew she had to put a move on.

She tried to subtly slip out of his grasp, mindful not to wake him up. She had a competition to prepare for, another crucial day that could make or break her career and she needed to have full concentration to deal with Brooke and whatever evil plan she would come up with. But as she moved, Levi’s grip suddenly tightened, pulling her back against his side.

"Mmm," he murmured into her hair, his voice still thick with sleep. "Where do you think you are sneaking off to?"

Lyse chuckled softly. "I have to get up," she whispered. "I have a competition to win today, remember?"

Levi opened his eyes and turned her to look at him, a playful glint dancing within them. He pulled her closer, his lips brushing against hers. "The competition can wait," he murmured, his voice husky. "I have a much more important matter to discuss with you, Mrs Van Doren."

He started to kiss her, his touch gentle at first, then growing more insistent. Lyse’s breath hitched, her resolve weakening. She knew that she had to get up, she knew she had to prepare, but Levi’s touch was so intoxicating, his kisses like a drug she could not, did not want to resist.

For a moment she wished the competition was not holding, then she snapped out of it.

"Levi," she whispered, her voice breathless. "I really have to..."

He cut her off with another kiss, his hand moving to caress her side. "Nonsense," he murmured against her lips as his hands went up to her ribcage. "A little morning delight is the perfect way to start up your day. I promise it will boost your creativity, you are going to thank me."

Lyse laughed, her resistance finally crumbling. "You are incorrigible," she said, but her voice lacked conviction. She knew she should protest, but a part of her didn’t want to. She was still basking in the afterglow of their passionate night, still reveling in the joy of their engagement and the bliss being in his arms brought.

"Besides," Levi continued, his hand now exploring the curve of her hip, "it is good luck. Starting the day with...pleasure...will bring you nothing but good fortune in the competition."

"Oh, is that so?" Lyse teased with her brow raised, her laughter bubbling up. "And where did you learn this...superstition?"

"It is a well-known fact," Levi said with a mischievous grin. "Trust me. I am an expert on these things."

Lyse laughed again, finally managing to wriggle free from his embrace. "You are going to have to try a little harder than that Mr Van Doren," she said, playfully pushing him away. "I am not falling for your tricks today"

She swung her legs out of bed, her feet touching the cool floor and standing up. "I am going to take a shower," she announced. "And then, I am going to get ready for what is going to be the biggest day of my life."

Levi lay back and admired her lithe body, a lazy smile playing on his lips. "You are going to regret this," he said, his voice teasing and low. "You are going to be thinking about me all day, wishing you had let me touch your body the way you know you like. You are gonna miss my kisses."

Lyse rolled her eyes, but she could not suppress a smile and the shiver that traveled through her. She knew he was right. She would be thinking about him all day. But she had a competition to win, and she could not let herself be distracted by his very very persuasive tongue.

She eyed him as she grabbed her robe and belted it before heading towards the bathroom, her heart still fluttering from their playful banter. As she closed the door behind her, she heard Levi’s voice.

"I will be waiting for you right here," he called out. "And I won’t take no for an answer."

Lyse chuckled, shaking her head. He was relentless.

She turned on the shower, the warm water cascading down her back, washing away the last vestiges of sleep from her eyes.

As she stepped under the spray and lathered soap on her body, she thought about Levi, his touch, his kisses, his proposal. She could not believe she was going to marry him for real and no longer be a contract wife. He was everything she had ever wanted, everything she had ever dreamed of and did not even know.

Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and Levi stepped in, wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, leaving his impressive body for her to ogle. Lyse gasped, her cheeks flushing crimson while her eyes were stuck to his body.

"What are you doing?" she stammered, her eyes wide.

Levi grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he noticed how she could not stop looking at his body. "Just joining you," he said, stepping into the shower. "Don’t you know that we need to save the planet by reducing our water use and sharing the shower?"

Lyse laughed, amused at his persistence and refusal to give up. This was surely what made him a successful businessman man. She could not help but admire his confidence, his playful persistence. And she had to admit, the sight of his toned, muscular body was...distracting. Very very distracting and she could no longer pretend to resist him.

"You are impossible," she said, but her voice was soft, her eyes filled with affection. "What am I going to do with you?"

Levi stepped inside the shower stall and stood right behind her, his arms wrapping around her waist while they faced their reflections in the mirror. "I know what you can do," he murmured, his lips brushing against her ears. "Let me make love to you."

His hands drifted from her waist to cup her breasts and play with her nipples while she stared transfixed at the mirror, absolutely turned on by what she saw in the mirror, and leaning into his touch. She loved his playful teasing, his unwavering affection, his undeniable charm. She loved everything about him.

"You are going to make me late," she said, but her voice lacked conviction.

"We have time," Levi whispered, his kisses growing more insistent as they went down the side of her neck. "Plenty of time."

And as the water cascaded over them, washing away the last traces of sleep, Lyse knew that she was in trouble. She had a competition to prepare for, a career to build, a life to live. But she also had Levi, his love, his passion, his unwavering support. And in that moment, as she stood in his arms, the world outside the shower seemed to fade away. All that mattered was him. All that mattered was their love.

She opened her mouth as soundless moans forced their way through as one of Levi’s hands drifted down her belly to the juncture between her legs. Lyse’s legs rolled back against Levi, unable to keep looking at the mirror.

"No." Levi demanded harshly, his voice labored and hoarse. "I want you to look at what I’m doing to you, I want you to watch yourself get undone."

Lyse’s breath hitched as she raised her head and her eyes caught Levi’s heavy lidded ones while he plunged a finger inside her and she bit her lip and started to rock her hips.

"Yes baby." He whispered as he appreciated how her body responded to his touch.

He held both her waist and bent her forward before pushing himself inside her and groaning as the sensations almost blinded him. He opened his eyes and pulled Lyse closer so that her back was against his chest. Then he started to thrust, carefully, slowly, deeply while Lyse arched her back to make his entrance even more filling.

At that moment, all thoughts of Brooke and the competition were a distant memory. The only important thing was being led to the apex of satisfaction by her lover.
