I Married My Ex's Billionaire Father -
Chapter 190: First Day Of The Competition
Chapter 190: First Day Of The Competition
The hum of the sewing machines, usually a comforting soundtrack to Lyse’s creative process, was replaced by a nervous flutter in her stomach. Today was the day. The first day of the Golden Fleece competition, the culmination of months of hard work, sleepless nights, and sheer, unwavering passion.
Today, she would present herself to the world as a designer, to be judged, and hopefully, celebrated. Today, her dream of becoming a recognized fashion designer could either take flight or crash and burn.
She glanced at the clock on her office wall. Almost time. She had meticulously prepared everything: the garments, the models, the presentation. All that was left was to...breathe. And try not to throw up at the judges feet.
Suddenly, a knock on her door broke through her anxious reverie. "Come in," she called, trying to project an air of calm confidence she definitely wasn’t feeling.
The door opened, and Levi stepped in, a dazzling smile gracing his handsome features. In his hands, he held a bouquet of vibrant tulips, a splash of color against his impeccably tailored suit.
Lyse’s heart did a little flip. "Levi! What a lovely surprise," she said, a genuine smile spreading across her face. The tulips were a thoughtful touch, a welcome distraction from the pressure of the day.
"I was not about to miss this for the world," Levi said, walking towards her. He presented the tulips with a flourish. "For the most talented designer I know, from your biggest fan."
Lyse took the flowers and brought them to her face, their delicate fragrance filling her nostrils and the air. "Thank you, they are beautiful."
Levi leaned in and kissed her, a brief but passionate kiss that sent a shiver down her spine. "Good luck today, Lyse," he whispered against her lips. "I know you are going to do amazing."
"Thank you," she said, her voice soft. "Your support means the world to me."
He kissed her again, a lingering kiss that left her breathless. "You will not see me because they won’t let spectators in at this stage of the competition, but I will be there in spirit," he promised. "Cheering you on every step of the way."
And then, just as quickly as he had arrived, he was gone, leaving Lyse with the lingering scent of his cologne and a renewed sense of determination and motivation.
She gazed at the tulips, a soft smile playing on her lips. The past few weeks had been blissfully happy. It felt like the sun breaking out of the clouds after a devastating storm, she believed that everything they had gone through had made them stronger. Levi had been incredibly supportive, showering her with affection and encouragement. They had shared quiet dinners, romantic walks, and lazy Sundays spent cuddled on the sofa, lost in each other’s company. It was everything she had ever dreamed of.
But...a tiny niggle of unease crept into her mind. They had been together through so much together, and while she was undeniably happy, she couldn’t help but wonder...when was he going to ask? Nobody else knew it besides them and Chris but they were not even a real couple.
Levi had not said anything and neither had she, afraid as she was of bursting the bubble of happiness she was in. The thought of spending the rest of her life with Levi filled her with joy, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing.
What if he just keeps you as a mistress and never commits? He is a wealthy man who probably does not want to have to pay alimony.
Lyse tried to shake off the thought but another thought entered her head, what if the man she had married that drunken night showed up? He had not reached out to her recently, but sometimes she would remember him and be unable to be calm.
She sighed, pushing the negative thoughts aside. Today was not the day to dwell on such things. Today was about the Golden Fleece. Today was about her dreams.
She shook off her thoughts and focused on the task at hand. She had a competition to win. She thought of all the hard work she and her team had put into this collection. The late nights, the creative brainstorming, the meticulous attention to detail. Every stitch, every seam, every embellishment was a testament to their dedication and passion. She thought of her family and friends, their unwavering support, their belief in her talent. She could not let them down and she would not let herself down.
She gathered her team, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you everyone," she said, her eyes sweeping across their faces. "Thank you for everything. For your hard work, your dedication, your belief in me. We have come so far, and today, we are going to show the world what we’re capable of."
Her team, a mix of talented designers, seamstresses, and assistants, erupted in cheers, their enthusiasm infectious. Lyse smiled, her nerves momentarily forgotten. She was surrounded by a team of incredibly talented and supportive people.
She selected her personal assistant, Sarah, and Kim, who was stunned and excited, to accompany her to the competition. They were going to assist her, at least that’s what they thought. But Lyse had a plan.
As they headed towards the venue, a large, modern building in the heart of the city, Lyse took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. Today was the day. The day she had been working towards for so long. Today, she would show the world her vision, her talent, her passion. Today, she would chase her dreams.
The venue was buzzing with energy. Designers, models, journalists, and fashion enthusiasts milled around, the air thick with anticipation. Lyse felt a surge of adrenaline as she stepped into the backstage area, a whirlwind of activity. Models were being prepped, makeup artists were working their magic, and designers were making last-minute adjustments to their creations.
Sarah and Kim quickly got to work, organizing the garments and preparing for the show. Lyse watched the clothes, her heart filled with gratitude.
As the time for the show drew closer, Lyse felt her nerves escalating. She took another deep breath, trying to center herself. She closed her eyes for a moment, picturing her designs, visualizing her models walking down the runway, imagining the audience’s reaction.
And then, she heard the announcement. "The first round of the Golden Fleece competition is about to begin!"
Her eyes snapped open. This was it. The moment she had been waiting for. She looked at Sarah and Kim, their faces filled with excitement and encouragement.
"Let’s do this guys," she said, her voice firm.
And as she stepped onto the stage, the bright lights blinding her for a moment, she knew that she was ready. She was ready to share her vision with the world. She was ready to chase her dreams. She was ready to win.
