I Married A Degraded Alpha -
Chapter 62: The Psychic Power Unleashed
Chapter 62: The Psychic Power Unleashed
Yuri settled down in front of the medical pod. Suddenly, she felt the urge to just...stop. Lugging around the medical pod was drawing too much attention, making things riskier than they had to be.
Maybe it was time to try out her level-four Enova power.
Yuri’s clear, bright eyes instantly darkened to a deep, ink-like black, almost void of any white.
A fog of darkness swirled in her eyes, countless invisible mental threads spun out from her, reaching every corner of the hospital building.
"She’s below, on the seventh floor, northernmost room."
"That woman is a bit tricky. Stay away, just fire at will."
"Wasn’t she just an omega, a disabled one at that?"
"Would a disabled omega dare to jump off a building with a medical pod? Would you dare?"
"I would. But I couldn’t."
"..."
A group of alphas, brimming with hostility and killing intent.
In the room, Yuri smirked, "It’s you guys, huh."
The invisible mental threads broke through the alphas’ Sea of Consciousness barriers.
"Blast them," Yuri muttered through clenched teeth.
The marching alphas suddenly froze. The next second, their faces twisted, crimson fluid leaking from their orifices.
Pairs of fierce, murderous eyes slowly lost their gleam, turning lifeless, hollow, vacant.
They stood still, like wooden puppets, immobilized.
This scene replayed throughout the hospital building, until the last enemy was rendered incapacitated.
When the alarm rang, Yuri’s opticomputer also buzzed. Multiple calls came in from Officer Lyao, Ender, Daleks, Kilana, and some unfamiliar names.
Yuri accepted the calls from Officer Lyao and Ender. Their holograms appeared in the room within seconds.
Yuri, leaning weakly against the medical pod, had overused her mental threads and was now severely drained. Her frail appearance wasn’t an act.
Officer Lyao and Ender sighed in relief at the sight of Yuri and the undamaged medical pod.
"We’re sorry, we failed in our duties," Officer Lyao apologized.
Yuri simply replied, "Indeed, you did."
Officer Lyao didn’t take offense, but Ender and the others sent her warning looks. Yuri ignored their silent pleas.
"I’ll root out the enemy spies in the Alliance, I swear," Officer Lyao vowed.
Yuri didn’t respond, instead changing the subject. "Tuss’s medical pod cracked, will it affect him?"
"Professor Gawk is on his way, don’t worry, it’ll be fine."
Sure enough, within five minutes, not only did Professor Gawk arrive with a team of doctors, but Officer Lyao showed up personally too.
Yuri, not wanting to talk, shut her eyes and slipped into unconsciousness the moment she saw them.
Seeing this, Officer Lyao instantly teleported to Yuri’s side, gently lifting her and placing her onto a nearby bed. "Professor Gawk, please see to her first," he requested.
Professor Gawk, who had been heading towards Tuss’s pod, looked at Officer Lyao quizzically, silently asking if he should examine Tuss first.
"See to her first," Officer Lyao commanded, allowing no room for refusal.
Confused but compliant, Professor Gawk headed toward the bed.
Two minutes later, he withdrew his hands. "She’s just exhausted," he declared.
"Really?" Officer Lyao wasn’t convinced. "Shouldn’t you examine her more carefully?"
Professor Gawk’s face twisted in irritation. "If I say she’s fine, she’s fine. Would I make a mistake over such a trivial matter?"
Having said that, he turned and headed toward the medical pod.
Officer Lyao pursed his lips. He thought, Once you know her level, you’ll regret treating her so hastily today.
When Yuri woke up again, she and Tuss had been moved to a different room.
Grumble... Yuri jolted awake, instinctively using her psychic power to investigate.
Grumble... This time, Yuri traced the sound back to its source—it was her stomach.
Relieved, she pulled out Nutrient Fluids from her dimensional button and downed two bottles at once, still feeling unsatisfied.
She opened another bottle, this time drinking slower, savoring the nutrient fluids like a fine beverage.
She switched on her opticomputer and replied to Ender and the others’ messages, then hopped onto the interstellarnet to check the news. The first thing that popped up was a video of herself, or more precisely, a video of her jumping off a building with the medical pod.
She watched it from beginning to end, then exclaimed, "That’s so cool!"
She then scrolled down to read the comments under the video.
"No way this is real, it defies the laws of nature."
"Don’t speak too soon. If it were fake, someone would’ve debunked it by now."
"Fact-checker here, the video is indeed real."
"The video was shot at the Yuda Memorial Hospital on Planet Alpha. Didn’t you hear about the attack there last night?"
"Does anyone know what exactly happened?"
"No idea, but rumor has it that a severely injured SSS-tier Alpha was in the Yuda Memorial Hospital."
"Ah, now I get it."
"Me too."
"Back to the topic, does anyone know how that woman managed to defy science and human limits, lift a rapidly descending heavy medical pod, and swiftly return to the room?"
"Same question here."
"I need answers."
...
Yuri closed her opticomputer and furrowed her brows. Was it really that difficult? Could high-level Alphas not do it?
It was challenging, sure, but some high-level Alphas could manage. The fact that these people couldn’t comprehend it was another issue.
"Did they all lose their minds? Not one left?" Officer Lyao frowned.
The doctor nodded, "All gone, there’s no hope of recovery."
"Not just that, their Sea of Consciousness is completely gone," added an S-tier beta.
Officer Lyao felt a throbbing in his temples, realizing he was starting to lose control of the situation.
"We suspect a beta is behind it. There were no traces of drugs on any of the victims," the doctor explained.
The S-tier Beta shook his head, "I couldn’t wipe out an Alpha’s Sea of Consciousness. I asked my teacher, one of only two SS-tier Betas in the Alliance. Even she couldn’t do it."
Officer Lyao averted his gaze, thinking, You can’t because you’re not SSS-tier.
Not long after Yuri woke up, Officer Lyao came in.
"Are you feeling okay?" Officer Lyao asked, sitting on the edge of her bed.
Yuri hummed in acknowledgment, then asked, "How’s Tuss doing? Has he been affected?"
"He’s fine. You protected him well," Officer Lyao replied, looking at the young girl in admiration. He wasn’t sure he could have done better in her place.
As soon as she woke up, Yuri had used her psychic power to check on Tuss’s condition. His heartbeat was strong and steady, so she wasn’t overly concerned. Now, with Officer Lyao’s confirmation, she was completely relieved.
"Yuri," Officer Lyao suddenly called out her name.
"Hmm?" Yuri responded, a straw from the Nutrient Fluids bottle still in her mouth.
"You know that high-level betas, A-tier and above, can’t accept complete marking before the age of 25, right?" Officer Lyao said.
Yuri replied, "...yes." She knew now.
"That’s good," Officer Lyao said, visibly relieved.
