Chapter 166: Someone’s Pulling Strings
When Yuri arrived at the emergency scene, her eyes immediately caught the sight of blood splattered everywhere, the lifeless bodies of two level-two insectoids, and a battered mecha.
"Ron?" Yuri called out.
"Cough, cough, I’m here." Ron crawled out from the mecha.
Yuri, looking at his blood-soaked figure, stepped out from her own mecha, thinking to herself that this was no minor injury.
"Don’t move, wait for me there," Yuri hurriedly approached him. She was originally planning to take out a medical kit from her dimensional button, but seeing his severed lower leg, she retrieved her own healing pod instead.
Before Ron could speak, she stripped off his tattered cotton jacket, used a knife to cut his pants, leaving only the section above the knee.
Ron’s pale face flushed, and he dared not meet Yuri’s eyes.
"Was your leg bitten off by an insectoid?" Yuri asked.
Ron merely grunted in response.
Yuri swiftly lifted him up, placed him in the healing pod, and asked, "Where’s your dimensional button?"
She needed the dimensional button to transport his mecha and the prey.
"I... I don’t have a dimensional button," Ron admitted sheepishly.
"That’s okay, I have one. You just rest in here. I’ll take you back to the base soon. By the way, which planet do you live on?"
"Planet 4581," Ron replied.
"That’s on my way, I live there too," Yuri said, closing the lid of the healing pod the very next second.
Yuri used her dimensional button to transport Ron’s mecha and the prey, which she originally planned to use for transporting sphalerite ore. Thinking about the ore, Yuri sent a message to Tuss, informing him that she wouldn’t be able to mine today as she had to transport a casualty back home.
Tuss replied promptly: Alright, be careful.
Yuri responded: Don’t work too late. I’ll be waiting at home.
Afterwards, Yuri hoisted the healing pod into the mecha and swiftly departed.
As Yuri drove the mecha, she addressed her livestream viewers, "Did you see that? Being a hunter is not as easy as you think. One misstep and it could cost you your life."
"I got scared seeing Ron in that state."
"Luckily, Yuri is kind. She couldn’t bear to leave the Starfire behind and went out to look for them. Though she didn’t find the squad, she found Ron."
"The way Yuri rescued Ron was swift and decisive, it made my heart pound with excitement."
"I wish Yuri could help me undress too."
"...." Yuri glanced at the comments from her viewers and genuinely felt it was better not to look.
She turned her gaze away, accelerated the mecha, and in no time, they safely arrived at Planet 4581.
Yuri searched for a hospital on Planet 4581, chose a nearby one, and parked the mecha right in front of the hospital entrance.
The red and green mecha was quite noticeable, and its appearance drew a crowd. When Yuri disembarked from the mecha, carrying the healing pod, the bystanders were taken aback. Oh my, it’s actually Yuri.
Yuri wheeled the healing pod into the hospital, heading straight for the emergency center, calling out, "Doctor, we have a patient here whose leg was bitten off by an insectoid."
Hearing her, several doctors immediately rushed over and wheeled the healing pod into the operating room.
Following behind, as the doctors lifted Ron from the healing pod, one of them pushed the pod back to Yuri and asked, "Are you selling this healing pod?"
Yuri twitched her lips and said, "Seriously?"
The doctor looked a bit disappointed, saying, "Our hospital has always wanted this model, but we never got one. They say it’s still in production."
"Don’t worry, there’ll be more soon," Yuri reassured him.
The doctor nodded, "Could you go pay his medical fees and complete the necessary paperwork?"
Yuri took back the healing pod and turned to head towards the payment counter.
After paying for Ron’s medical fees and handling his admission procedures, Yuri left. Ron would probably contact his family when he woke up, and they would come take care of him.
Once outside the hospital, Yuri went to a buying station, intending to sell the two level-two insectoids. The longer a dead insectoid lay around, the worse its fur quality would be. She couldn’t delay.
If Ron later felt unhappy with the price, she could make up the difference to him.
From Yuri’s perspective, Ron seemed like a kind person. He probably wouldn’t make a fuss.
Planet 4581 had a purchasing station as well, and Yuri picked the one closest to the military base.
As expected, she was recognized again.
"Aren’t you afraid of mistaking me for someone else?" Yuri asked curiously.
"Not at all. Your aura is unmatched," the storekeeper replied, flattering Yuri.
Yuri now worried that one day these people’s praises might make her lose herself.
The storekeeper didn’t bargain, and the two level-two insectoids sold for 450,000 credits.
After leaving the purchasing station, Yuri headed for the mecha repair department at the military base. The department was rather modest, and at this time, there was only one old technician.
Yuri showed Ron’s mecha to the technician, who shook his head, "This mecha is old and of the most basic model. The cost to repair it would be enough to buy a new one."
Yuri had no choice but to put the mecha away and ask, "Are you very busy? Would you like me to assist you?"
The technician looked at Yuri, having heard of her, and chuckled, "Are you sure you’re here to assist, and not to steal some techniques?"
Yuri was not embarrassed by his accurate guess, and asked seriously, "Would you let me learn from you?"
The technician shook his head, "You can’t just take. My grandson wants to join your troops. Could you reserve a spot for him?"
Yuri thought for a moment, "If he can pass the military review, I can take him in."
"That should be no problem, he’s a senior at Military Academy No. 2. In two months, he’ll graduate," the technician proudly said.
"Okay, I’ll reserve a spot for him," Yuri agreed readily.
At this moment, she had forgotten that she was still streaming live. When her viewers heard her give away a spot, they were outraged.
"What, someone’s pulling strings."
"I also need a grandfather who knows how to repair mechas."
"Yuri, you said you couldn’t make decisions like this. What about fairness?"
"I’m graduating in two months too, Yuri. Can you reserve a spot for me too?"
"...."
Yuri spent the entire afternoon in the mecha repair department, and for his grandson, the technician imparted all he knew to her.
