Chapter 333: Chapter 329 Princess Lulu (500 average additional updates~5/5)
Mu Ying was nurturing a Crystal Coral Seed with her eight tentacles, one in each hand.
Now that she had mastered the skill, she could even shape other things at the same time.
She had become increasingly proficient with octopus tentacles. Recently, for the sake of convenience at work, she would focus on growing octopus tentacles whenever she drank the Fish Tail Potion.
She thought the greatest thing about the Fish Tail Potion was that it freed up her hands and gave her eight more "feet" to work with.
Even Windsor and Yitaye had been influenced by her. Windsor used eight blue tentacles to hold several carving knives and carve Magic Marks. Yitaye, keeping up with the trend, used eight brown tentacles, each holding a wine glass filled with different wines, and could even use her tentacles to make herself a pillow to sleep on when drunk.
Unfortunately, Senior Sister Rosie still had her preferences and stuck to her beautiful but not so practical mermaid tail.
"Mu Ying, let me tell you, our shop’s Fish Tail Potion has been selling like crazy, all thanks to you!" a purple-haired octopus-tail witch swam up to her with a joyful expression and said.
She was Monica, the owner of the Magic Pharmacy on 12th Street, a Purple Witch, and proficient at fish hunting. Her potion-making skills were specialized; she could only make Breathing Potion and Fish Tail Potion. Other potions in her shop were all consigned by other witches.
She preferred electric fishing in the sea, zapping a whole area at once. But since fish didn’t sell for much in the deep sea, she opened the Magic Pharmacy.
However, her main source of income was still selling fish, which she would sell to Debra, who would then take them to the human world.
"Have there been a lot of witches coming by lately?" Indeed, Mu Ying had noticed a recent increase in octopus-tail ladies.
Monica giggled, "Look at that one. He’s clearly an octopus-tail ’gentleman.’ It seems that lately, with more witches following your lead in transforming into octopus tails for work, mermaids have also been influenced and started to follow the trend. The members of the Hunting Team even specially ordered a batch of Fish Tail Potions from me after they encountered a witch fighting with her tentacles."
Mu Ying: "..."
No wonder these past few days Mu Ying had seen an increase in "witches" who loved octopus tails on the street; they were actually mermaids.
She turned her head towards the rooftop, where a red-haired little octopus-tail girl was talking with Senior Sister Rosie.
The little girl had been hanging around here for quite a while today, chatting with Senior Sister Rosie as if they were old friends.
She had mistaken her for a small Red Witch. If mermaids were now fond of using the Fish Tail Potion, then that person...
Mu Ying tugged at Monica’s sleeve with a tentacle, "Is that red-haired little girl also a mermaid?"
"Yeah, isn’t that Princess Lulu, the youngest of the Mermaid Royal Family?" Monica said nonchalantly.
Mu Ying: "..."
It turned out the person she had been waiting for so long had already been frolicking in front of her for quite some time.
When her house became the subject of onlookers, she had suspected that the curious little mermaid princess who longed for the surface and the human world might come to see it.
She had waited for several days and even extended the construction period a bit, but hadn’t seen her. She thought she had guessed wrong, but it turned out the princess was already caught up with the latest trend and had started using the newest octopus tail.
She placed the flower she was holding into the flowerbed and swam with her tail towards the rooftop.
"Is it true that there are so many beautiful flowers on land?" Princess Lulu asked Senior Sister Rosie.
"Yes, these are made to resemble the variety of flowers on land," Senior Sister Rosie said.
"I really want to go see the land!" Princess Lulu said, cupping her chin, "If only there were a Human Leg Potion, then I could go ashore to have a look after I come of age next year!"
"The little princess is dreaming too much. The Fish Tail Potion only changes the appearance; the respiratory organs inside remain unchanged. Mermaids would still have difficulty breathing on land even if they had legs," Mu Ying interrupted.
That was the truth. From her observations these past few days, mermaids only resembled humans in their upper body shape, but their internal structures were very different.
It seemed they all breathed through their noses, but a mermaid’s nose was for drawing in water. They could temporarily endure breathing dry air from land, but staying too long would lead to dehydration.
Based on the principle and thought process behind the Fish Tail Potion, creating a similar Human Leg Potion wouldn’t be a huge problem. However, for a mermaid to go ashore, it wasn’t as simple as taking a so-called Human Leg Potion; a transformation from the inside out, a complete change of Race, was necessary.
Currently, no potion could achieve that.
"Actually, the bottom of the sea is not short of beautiful plants and animals compared to the land. Little princess, why are you so obsessed with going ashore? Humans are too complicated for us," Rosie tried to counsel Princess Lulu.
"But everything from the land is so interesting! I’ve never seen them, and I want to see what humans with such extraordinary imaginations are like," Princess Lulu insisted.
Mu Ying silently shook her head. This couldn’t be stopped. What one hasn’t seen always seems best, but in reality, it’s often just a matter of the grass being greener on the other side.
Besides, the world of the deep sea wasn’t more monotonous than the land; it was even more colorful.
But having grown up here, she had become accustomed to the beauty around her, swayed by her own romanticized view of the dazzling human world.
Humans did indeed have many brilliant ideas, but the culture of the Mermaid Clan was also quite unique. Otherwise, when they first arrived in Crystal City, they wouldn’t have been so amazed. It would have been the same for any human as well.
And if the difference was really that pronounced, the items from the Mermaid Clan wouldn’t be so valuable on land either.
Perhaps Princess Lulu would only understand after experiencing it firsthand. She wouldn’t believe what others said.
The story of the Mermaid Princess usually had a tragic end, and Mu Ying didn’t know what the future held for Lulu in this world, but she still didn’t want her to turn into foam for the sake of a man.
After seeing the average beauty of the Mermaid Race, Mu Ying didn’t believe Princess Lulu would fall for the looks of some Prince ashore. Even considering faces alone and ignoring tails, there were just too many handsome men in the Mermaid Clan.
Looking at Lulu’s longing for land now, Mu Ying estimated that in her heart, the good impression she had of humans had added quite a few points to that Prince, almost a self-strategy.
Mu Ying dismissed the idea of trying to intervene beforehand. Let nature take its course. After all, Princess Lulu’s coming-of-age was public knowledge. She could just pay attention when that time came.
Interacting with her at this point, the task progress had only vibrated slightly, indicating she had probably found the right person, but then there was no more activity.
Today, the shop’s decoration was officially completed. The final step was to set up the bubble balls.
Once the bubble balls were in place, all the Crystal Coral, which was still active in seawater, would dehydrate and die, preserving their current most perfect state indefinitely.
The method of setup was simple: imprint the Magic Marks on the bubble balls, and then one could control the size and position of the bubble balls.
