Chapter 305 - 301 Assassin
Chapter 305: Chapter 301 Assassin
At this moment, many adult Mushroom Men had taken the positions of the spellcasters on the high platform, blowing spores outward.
Once the spores landed among the Fishmen, they had an effect similar to Gungun’s Fruit Pitcher, causing the Fishmen to lose their last bit of consciousness, staggering as they walked, but once the spores parasitized, they couldn’t be washed away by seawater.
Mu Ying watched and guessed they might be spores of hallucinogenic mushrooms.
They wouldn’t kill but would make one dizzy and produce hallucinations.
In this regard, Mushroom Men seemed different from Half-Breeds; they were purely there to support, without any thought of earning rewards.
Mushroom Men were indeed experts at using poison; how many toxic substances had she handled when cultivating Detoxification Mushrooms? There were quite a few that were directly lethal.
At this moment, only using hallucinogenic mushrooms, they obviously didn’t want to kill directly.
Sky Wolves were different; their Sky Blade struck the gills of the Fishmen time and again, where Fishmen’s critical breathing organs were located, taking a ruthless approach.
Although I don’t know why they all came to join the fray, it must be said, with their addition, the operation to eradicate the Fishmen became much easier.
The Fishman Priest was genuinely stunned, having been washed back quite a bit by the giant waves created by the mermaids before finally stabilizing using the Talent of Water Walking.
The number of Mermaid Warriors was much less than that of Koutao Fishmen, but their strength was much greater; they were capable of both melee combat and long-range spellcasting.
Mermaid Warriors, riding sharks, stood atop the vast deep blue walls of waves, their Water Control Skill surpassing that of the Fishmen.
The red seawater, tainted by the power of the Evil God, was beyond their control.
But the huge waves summoned from the deep sea by them far exceeded this bit of red seawater.
Directly crushing through, they could extend many water bonds that bound the Fishmen’s limbs, throwing the Fishmen near the Harbor Camp.
The players cheered, swords and spears in hand, coordinating perfectly.
The Fishman Priest was truly scared at this point.
When did they ever offend the mermaids?
"euiaskfh!"
Mermaids, unlike Mu Ying, could understand the language of the Sea Clan.
"ladjiefihriw! (This is the price for your affront to us and our friends, attempting to taint the ocean!)"
The Fishman Priest was on the verge of feeling aggrieved to death.
Hadn’t he warned those idiots not to venture into the deep sea? When had they provoked the mermaids?
Also, how did they know about the tainting of the seawater?
To his death, he would never have guessed that the mermaids had such deep connections with the humans on shore.
The Magic-like abilities of mermaids were also control-based spells; to produce direct damage, they still relied on close combat, and with their numbers, it really was uncertain who would lose or win in a melee.
If it had just stayed that way, it would have been alright.
On the horizon, a dark mass was rapidly approaching their way.
Not those damn crows again!
Mu Ying carefully recalled whether he had used Curse Magic to curse the Koutao Fishmen with bad luck.
Why were even the Blood Crows showing up?
For the Koutao Fishmen, these Blood Crows were much more troublesome than players attacking from within the camp and Mermaid Warriors who only disturbed and controlled from a distance with waves.
There were more of them, and they were fearless in death since they were Undead Creatures.
Fortunately, it wasn’t the first encounter with the Blood Crows. Apart from the initial encounter where they had no prior experience and suffered great losses, things had gotten much better.
The Koutao Fishman Priests had no time to care for their affected subordinates and could only issue orders to the remaining lucid Fishmen to flee into the sea.
The Fishman Priest himself also raised his Magic Wand, attempting to control the red seawater and sweep himself and the nearby Fishmen into the water.
But just as the Magic Wand was lifted off the ground and before he could cast the spell, a sudden pain struck his gills, and from there, a paralyzing sensation rapidly spread throughout his body.
The Magic Wand clattered to the ground, sinking into the water and carried away by the waves.
The Fishman Priest’s eyes were bulging out, but he couldn’t move at all, not even catching a glimpse of the assailant.
Mu Ying, on the other hand, saw everything clearly. It was Clan Leader Ned, the Half-Breed, who had appeared behind the Fishman Priest at some unknown time, holding a jet-black dagger and with just a slash near the gills of the Fishman Priest, the Priest seemed as if a Binding Spell had been cast on him, even dropping the Magic Wand in his hand.
Was a Level 14 Wanderer that powerful? This ghost-like Stealth ability, and keep in mind that the Fishman Priest was on the water surface, not on land.
Approaching him would have inevitably required stepping on the water, and although Mu Ying had applied Water Walking to him, there were still very slight ripples when stepping on the water.
That was significantly more difficult than Stealth on land.
A well-trained Wanderer was truly a Spellcaster’s worst nightmare!
Especially those Spellcasters who didn’t have state-based Defense Magic like the Fishman Priest, who, however impressive his Devoted Shield and quick spell-casting speed were, still needed time to cast spells.
This kind of imperceptible approach, delivering a strike without a moment for the target to react, truly left one with no ability to fight back.
However, there were still plenty of Fishmen around the Fishman Priest. Seeing their leader fallen, they wouldn’t just stand by, and immediately gathered around him.
At this time, the Blood Crows were already very close.
Mu Ying no longer concealed his actions of destroying the sacrificial jar, not using the Illusion anymore, shooting while keeping an eye on the situation on Clan Leader Ned’s side.
How was he planning to quickly extricate himself amidst the dual assault from the Fishmen and Blood Crows?
Clan Leader Ned, while grappling with the completely paralyzed Fishman Priest, attacked the surrounding Fishmen with his dagger. Even though handling the Fishman Priest made it impossible to return to Stealth mode, he managed to carve a bloody path through them nevertheless.
The players witnessing this scene were stunned.
"How did he suddenly appear behind the Fishman Priest?"
"Oh my, this is truly how a Wanderer should operate. His skill with that dagger is slicker than those with long-handled weapons. I reckon even our globally-ranked number one Wanderer doesn’t measure up. I’d call him the Assassin God!"
"Andre, are all you Half-Breed Wanderers this fierce?"
"Half-Breeds and a Half-Breed Clan Leader are two different breeds. Do I look like I’m that capable?"
"Clan Leader Ned is so cool. Does he still take apprentices? The kind that includes food and lodging, devoted till the end?"
"Or the kind where no Box is ever locked, every secret compartment can be found, the kind that forever has no secrets," a nearby Half-Breed Warrior couldn’t help but interject.
Clan Leader Ned’s lock-picking skills kept their clansmen perpetually harried.
An inadvertent provocation might lead to yesterday’s hidden treasures being pilfered by the Chief and publicly ’executed’ or tampered with today—a leader expert in rifling through things is every Half-Breed’s childhood nightmare.
Thus, the Half-Breeds revered and resented their Clan Leader in equal measure. Although they felt proud of the human players’ praises at the moment, they couldn’t help but make their remarks.
