Chapter 216: Chapter 213: Grand Opening Sale

"Walk by, take a look! Half-Breed City is having a grand opening celebration, with a twenty percent discount on all goods on the first day. Warm fur winter coats, practical handmade crafts, and all sorts of delicious snacks are all twenty percent off. Plus, with a shopping voucher, you can enter a raffle with a chance to win one Gold Coin. Don’t forget to check out the public screening of ’Little Princess Fights the Great Demon Dragon,’ co-produced with the Mushroom Man Theater tonight!"

Throughout the territory, players were everywhere, handing out flyers and shouting promotions.

Mu Ying usually relied on teleportation to get around, but she still ended up with a flyer when she went to Quarry Camp to collect stone.

"Lord, don’t forget to come and have fun tonight!" said a player clad in Sleepless City’s black uniform, grinning from ear to ear.

"Got it," Mu Ying had planned to go anyway and had refrained from visiting the Half-Breed Camp since its completion in order to keep it a surprise. She really hadn’t expected the Half-Breeds to go all out with their marketing.

There were no printers or copiers at this time; all these flyers were handwritten.

Mu Ying just felt that Half-Breeds were truly wealthy.

"Hehe, the Lord has promised, the bonus is mine!"

Mu Ying: "..."

That said, could you please walk away before talking about it? Even if you lower your voice, she could still hear everything loud and clear.

After collecting the stone, she used teleportation to get to the Iron Mining Camp.

And then she got cornered by someone else.

Seeing the large words "Half-Breed City" on their clothes, Mu Ying shook the flyer in her hand helplessly.

"Which quick-acting guy did this!" The bonus had flown away.

Mu Ying quickly collected the iron ore and headed back to the Plantation, deciding it was best not to go out before evening.

As night fell, she teleported with Gungun to the Half-Breed Camp, only to be swallowed up by the crowd.

It seemed like everyone from the territory had come here.

Well, that made sense. On a normal evening, the only place to go in the territory was the Bruce Tavern. Now, with the arrival of Sleepless City, which by name alone suggested a place for nightlife and entertainment, and after such heavy promotion, who wouldn’t want to come and see?

Mu Ying shook her head in relief, glad that the streets of the Half-Breed Camp were spacious enough.

Though the camp was limited in size, every inch of land had been utilized.

The ground was paved with stone bricks, houses on both sides of the streets were two or three stories high with shops below and residences above, and the buildings all emitted a soft glow, with many glowing plants cultivated everywhere.

It seemed the Half-Breeds had a good relationship with the Mushroom Men, resembling a second Mushroom Man Dungeon, brightly lit though not large in scale. Still, it did indeed have a Sleepless City vibe.

Upon closer inspection, the variety of shops was still not rich, consisting mostly of Half-Breed handcrafted goods, with food stalls being the most plentiful.

It appeared that the players had put a lot of effort into this.

"Isn’t this just a food street?" someone nearby commented.

Mu Ying inwardly nodded in agreement, wasn’t it just?

Though players’ lives had become more comfortable, supplies were still scarce, with everyone being as thrifty as possible. Any purchase over five copper coins required a lot of thought. Only food was a necessity.

And since food was much cheaper compared to other items, focusing on this allowed Half-Breed City to bustle with activity, a clever strategy indeed.

Everyone came on an empty stomach today, so they’re definitely going to spend some money here.

Accumulating expenses of at least 10 copper coins could also get you a lottery ticket. The prize pool includes various cash rewards, with a first prize of one Gold Coin for one winner, a second prize of one silver coin for 10 winners, third prize of 50 copper coins for 50 winners, a fourth prize of 10 copper coins for 100 winners, and numerous participation prizes in the form of discount coupons for various shops.

Who could look at this prize pool and not feel tempted to increase their spending budget for the night? Even winning a fourth prize means you get to eat for free tonight.

Mu Ying wasn’t particularly interested in this, as she had already started buying things from the start of the street. With so many foods, many of which she had never seen before, how could she not try them?

"What’s this?" Mu Ying asked.

The stall in front of her looked a lot like candied haws, but instead of being skewered on bamboo sticks, they were hanging, and they were pitch black in color and quite small, so it was uncertain what they were.

The vendor was a Half-Breed young girl. In fact, all of the Half-Breeds selling goods at the market were quite young, as even if allowed within the camp, those who couldn’t leave the instance, still couldn’t.

"This is called ’Bomb Skewer’, and you can buy three big skewers for just one copper coin," the Half-Breed girl said with a smile. "I remember you, you’re the Lord. The fried potato chips you had last time were really tasty."

Half-Breeds were naturally short, and this clearly underage Half-Breed girl was even smaller, calling Mu Ying ’Lord’ in her adorable tiny voice, while cutely repeating the word ’chips’. How could Mu Ying resist?

Although the food called ’Bomb Skewers’ sounded strange, it would seem rude not to buy some from the vendor, who was standing on a stool and just tall enough to reach the counter.

"I’ll take three skewers," Mu Ying said as she handed over a copper coin.

The Half-Breed girl was even happier, took out three skewers of Bomb Fruit and handed them to her, saying with a grin, "This is a kind of fruit that we Half-Breed kids love to eat. After being soaked in syrup, biting into them will make them burst out sweet juice like a bomb, hence the name ’sweet skewers’. However, each skewer always has one that’s not so nice, bursting out bitter juice instead, so Lord, be careful."

Mu Ying: "..."

That was rash, it’s just like a lottery, isn’t it? She just wanted to enjoy something tasty without taking unnecessary risks!

She shifted her gaze to Gungun, "You like sweets, right? Want to try?"

Gungun: (▼へ▼メ)

Deciding to go shopping with this unscrupulous owner today was a mistake! Look at how tiny and cute the little girl is, being sweet-talked into buying such weird things and even thinking of feeding them to me!

Mu Ying plucked one and held it up to its mouth.

Gungun couldn’t help licking it, hmm, it’s sweet, "Ah woo~"

٩(º﹃º٩)

Seeing Gungun’s contorted little expression as it put the Bomb Fruit in its mouth, Mu Ying understood. She held the skewer that had been checked over in her hand and handed the remaining two to Gungun, "I’ll just eat this one."

Gungun reluctantly swallowed the bitterness in its mouth, feeling utterly forlorn.

"Young girl, how many more Bomb Fruits do you have?" Mu Ying asked the Half-Breed girl.

The girl was stunned wide-eyed by Mu Ying’s peculiar way of eating. Could Bomb Fruits be eaten like this? Could little buddies be used this way?

Hearing her inquiring about more Bomb Fruits, the girl said admiringly, "I have 96 skewers left."

"Is your stall the only one selling Bomb Fruits in this market?" Mu Ying continued to inquire.

"Yes, everyone chose to sell different things," the girl didn’t quite understand why she was asking.

Mu Ying’s lips curled upwards, "Such a good thing should be shared with others, right? I’ll take all the remaining Bomb Fruits you have. Could you also give me that tree branch you’re using to pick the fruits with?"
