Chapter 203: Chapter 200: The Tavern by Chunjian Lake

Before they knew it, it was already mid-Spring month, and the Four Seasons Market of the Spring month was happening tonight.

After this meeting, the next Friday would be Mu Ying and her classmates’ graduation and departure from school, so today wasn’t just for browsing the market, it was also their last hurrah.

After the sun had set, led by Headmistress Lady Melanie, the first-year witches in the middle, and Mu Ying and her classmates bringing up the rear, they flew toward Chunjian Lake.

Chunjian Lake, the largest lake in the Witch Forest, had a spring-like climate year-round and beautiful scenery; it was the only location among the venues of the Four Seasons Market where witches lingered after the event, gathering together to form the only witch community.

The Witch Association was located within Chunjian Lake.

Seeing other witches in the sky was enough to know, the Spring month market was also the liveliest one among the Four Seasons Market each year.

Last year when Mu Ying and her classmates had come here, they had already browsed through, becoming somewhat familiar with the place. When she contacted Senior Reni, she had mentioned that her tavern was by the east side of Chunjian Lake, next to the third willow tree at the house with the red roof.

When Mu Ying and the others arrived there, they saw two familiar figures standing outside the house.

Senior Reni and Senior Lucia were waving at them with friendly and familiar smiles on their faces.

Windsor was the happiest, hugging Senior Reni like a little child, while Mu Ying and Lillian exchanged glances and, not to be outdone, embraced Senior Lucia.

"Oh, I’ve missed you so much!"

"You’re seniors now; mind your image," Lucia said, pushing them away with one hand on each of their heads.

Mu Ying and Lillian glanced at the underclassmen and Lady Melanie staring at them and released their hands with a sheepish smile.

"Senior Lucia, how have you been in the Witch Association? Are the magic there all very profound?" Mu Ying asked curiously.

Lucia shook her head, "All magic here requires points to learn, and working is not easy!" she said humorously, looking at her, "But I heard there’s a certain underage Green Witch named Mu Ying who hasn’t even graduated yet, but her wealth is already recognized by the Witch Association, they issued a goods trading list?"

"Hehe, just lucky, Dingling Flowers are too valuable," Mu Ying said with a goofy smile, feeling as if she had struck it rich overnight.

In the past, she had racked her brain selling stuff through the night on Hat Mountain for just a few Gold Coins. Now, her unique skill in cultivating Dingling Flowers meant she no longer had to worry about money.

"Everyone’s talking about a Witch who’s a genius at cultivating Dingling Flowers, with a success rate of ninety percent. Congrats on your first renowned title in the Witch World," Senior Reni also laughed.

Mu Ying felt suspicious, sensing something mischievous in Senior Reni’s laughter, "What is it?"

Senior Reni said with deep meaning, "The Dingling Witch."

As they all pushed the door and entered, the wind chimes above tinkled, causing Lillian to first burst out laughing, "Haha, it sounds like you’re covered in bells!"

Mu Ying glanced at her sideways, "We could still be friends if you just stayed quiet!"

Dingling Flower, such a crisp and pleasant name, yet combined with ’witch’ it carried a rather noisy connotation.

Although a witch title is generally a symbol of prestige, awarded only to those who have excelled in something, an unflattering witch title could be quite bothersome.

"Dingling~"

"Dingling~"

Suddenly, the Dingling Flowers around both Senior Reni and Lucia started chiming.

Reni checked, "It’s Rosie calling, you guys had just missed a call from her before you arrived, she’s probably asking if you’ve arrived."

Lillian looked towards Lucia, "And that one?"

"Your Senior Sister Margreta," Lucia also received a Dingling Flower.

Rosie, "Have they arrived yet?"

Margreta, "Is everything ready?"

Mu Ying and Lillian said in unison, "They’ve arrived, just in time!"

The ordeal with the titles finally passed.

Lady Melanie confidently left them to meet up with her old friends.

Mu Ying introduced the juniors and seniors to each other. Tonight was mainly for everyone to reunite. The buying and selling could wait until tomorrow morning at Chunjian Lake’s market, which usually lasted until noon the next day.

Senior Reni gave each of them a jug of wine, "This is my greatest achievement in research this year, a wine that replenishes magic power. I call it Magic Flower. The key is, this wine has a rich flavor but doesn’t intoxicate. Mu Ying, you can drink it too."

"Really? Can I drink it too?" Mu Ying’s biggest grievance about her body was her intolerance to alcohol. Whenever there was a gathering, everyone drank except for her, who could only drink non-alcoholic beverages.

If she weren’t so eager for it, it wouldn’t matter so much, but the key was, Reni’s wine was really well-made. The taste she experienced initially was unforgettable.

"And us too!" the voice of Senior Sister Margreta came from the Dingling Flower, "The wine you gave me before graduation is long gone. After tasting your wine, the wines on the human side just don’t compare!"

"Come to Chunjian Lake and buy it yourself!" Senior Reni said ruthlessly.

"Senior Sister Rosie, what is that sound from your side?" Mu Ying heard what seemed like singing coming from Reni’s Dingling Flower.

"The mermaids are singing! I’ll get closer so you can hear," Rosie’s voice transmitted.

The sound indeed became clearer but lacked the enchanting allure described in the books. Perhaps the transmission through the Dingling Flower stripped the mermaid’s song of its magic.

However, the melody was truly beautiful and entrancing, likely sung in the Mermaid Clan’s language. The specific meaning wasn’t clear, but the sentiment was profoundly felt, and everyone was spellbound for a moment.

Once the song ended, Windsor’s eyes shone with longing, and even Margreta from the other side of the Dingling Flower asked what the Mermaid Clan’s men looked like.

"Ahem, not hiding it from you all, I’ve found myself a boyfriend from the Mermaid Clan. He was the one singing just now," Rosie announced dramatically.

"Hello, I am Bertrand," a male voice came from the other side, speaking Universal Language.

Mu Ying: ..., give me back my senior sister, you smelly man! A good voice is useless.

Although the love interest was from the Mermaid Clan, known as the most loyal in love among the Extraordinary Races and having a similar lifespan, it made a good match for a witch.

However, the aesthetic differences between mermaids and witches, coupled with lifestyle conflicts, meant that love stories between them were rare, usually involving the water-affiliated Blue Witches.

"So Bertrand, you’re not some Mermaid Prince with a throne to inherit, right?" Mu Ying asked without much regard for courtesy, worriedly.

Even if the partner was a mermaid, a witch would likely only give birth to daughters at most, possibly a green witch with a slightly better talent in Water Magic, so the primary concern in a relationship with a witch was always about offspring.

"Mu Ying, don’t worry, I’ve carefully considered all you’ve mentioned before, and I’ve discussed it with Bertrand in advance. We only confirmed our relationship after he could accept these terms," Senior Sister Rosie reassured.

Mu Ying’s heart felt somewhat relieved.

"If anything changes, you must contact us, understand?" Lucia also said.

"Right, and uh, Bertrand, if things don’t work out between you and Rosie, that’s fine, but if you dare harm her, we’ll definitely come and break down your door!" Margreta also shouted.
