Chapter 1453: His Will Is the Law

Ye Guan smiled and said, "Master Pagoda, a man without capability is truly worth nothing."

Little Pagoda sighed softly. "Your words remind me of an old friend."

"Who?"

"Madam Zi'er... many people probably don't remember her anymore."

Ye Guan realized that she was his grandfather's generation.

Little Pagoda asked, "So from the very beginning, Lady Sui's stay with you... was that all an act?"

Ye Guan smiled. "Master Pagoda, think about it. How could a woman like her fall so easily for a man? In your eyes, I might be considered decent, but in her eyes and in the eyes of the Great Daoist Brush Master, I'm just a rich third-generation kid.

"Back then, Lady Sui and I were merely cooperating. Now that the cooperation has ended, I honestly have no idea how she'll treat me the next time we meet.

Little Pagoda sighed again. "Kid, you really have it rough."

Ye Guan chuckled. "Back to what we were discussing, the Breaking Wall Scripture clearly is a very important item. Even those two incredibly powerful individuals needed strategies and schemes to obtain it.

"This suggests that in the Main Universe, there are still beings so terrifying that even they have to tread cautiously. If I have to guess, other fragments of the Breaking Wall Scripture are likely in the hands of those top-tier beings or in places even they are afraid to visit..."

Worry appeared in Ye Guan's eyes.

Little Pagoda said, "You mean, they might deliberately create enemies or conflicts for you. Actually, not for you, but for those behind you. They want to force them out to deal with those unknown threats?"

Ye Guan nodded.

Little Pagoda asked, "Didn't the Great Daoist Brush Master approach you for an alliance? Why not join forces with him?"

Ye Guan shook his head. "Teaming up with him is like seeking skin from a tiger. He didn't truly want an alliance; he wanted to use me to take down Sui Gujin. If I had helped him eliminate her, what would've happened?"

Little Pagoda gravely said, "Without Sui Gujin, he'd turn on you again like before and go all out to kill you."

"That's right." Ye Guan nodded. "Between two great powers, the weak should never openly side with one. If a small nation is caught between two giants, the worst move is to immediately take sides.

"If that were to happen, there would be two possible results. First of all, the small nation and its chosen ally will eliminate the other superpower, but afterward, the small nation will be discarded. It's just a pawn, after all.

"The second possibility is the other superpower crushing it completely. Of course, the chosen ally won't go all-out to protect it. Instead, they'll say, 'we'll give you support, but you must fight your own battles.'"

Little Pagoda was silent.

Ye Guan muttered, "So what I must do now is not to ally with anyone. Because both sides want my support, they won't truly go after me. Any hostility will be symbolic, just enough to scare me into compliance.

"Their real aim is to win me over. So they'll slap me once, and then give me a carrot to eat. But if I openly side with one, the other will try to destroy me."

Little Pagoda asked, "I see... So what's your next move?"

"I'm going to the Main Universe."

Little Pagoda was startled. "You're going to the Main Universe on your own?"

Ye Guan nodded.

Little Pagoda asked, "Can't you just stay here and build up strength?"

Ye Guan smiled. "Of course, I'll build myself up before going. However, they won't give me much time to do that. If I were to stay here, knowing nothing about the Main Universe, I'd become too passive.

"Trust me, they'd eventually pull a 'threat from beyond the heavens' stunt on me."

Little Pagoda was silent again.

Ye Guan said, "By going to the Main Universe, I'm hoping to become an active player from a passive one. I'm also letting them know that I'm still willing to play this game, so don't come after me just yet. Plus, I no longer have any enemies here."

"I'm like someone who just got paid. Rich for three days, then back to scraping by after. Hahaha," said Ye Guan, laughing.

After the bloody purge, the internal issues in the Guanxuan Universe were resolved. At that moment, the observable universe was truly united as one like never before.

A day later, Ye Guan made a sudden decision to store the entire Guanxuan Universe inside the tiny pagoda. Now, every affair within the Guanxuan Universe was under his supervision.

Sui Gujin was sitting alone in the middle of a hall somewhere in the Main Universe. Before her was a massive table, and a map nearly a hundred meters wide was on the table.

Her gaze settled on a small point in the sea, which was only the size of a thumb.

The Sea of Life.

A shadowy figure silently appeared before her and bowed respectfully. "Ruler Sui."

Sui Gujin withdrew her gaze from the map. "What is it?"

The figure said, "The Great Daoist Brush Master has vanished without a trace. As for Ye Guan... he's still in the Sea of Life."

Sui Gujin said nothing. She slowly rose and walked to the hall's entrance. Lifting her eyes, she gazed into the endless starry sky. After a while, a mocking smile touched her lips. "The vast and boundless expanse. The eternal Dao... yet who could say for sure whether it's all an illusion?"

She opened her palm, revealing a torn scroll. It was the Breaking Wall Scripture.

Looking at it, she murmured, "I never really believed in this before. But now..."

A rare light flitted across her eyes.

A Void-Breaker.

Legend had it that the endless, vast expanse was all fake. Actually, it wasn't just a legend. This idea came from the mysterious genius who created the Breaking Wall Scripture. The very first line even said, "All is illusion; you and I are mere phantoms."

She doubted it at first. After all, how could this vast expanse be fake when there were so many people living throughout it?

She had been chasing after the scripture to prove it wrong, but now, she believed in it.

The lady in a plain skirt flashed through her mind again. She had to be a Void-Breaker.

After all, she created time.

For those living inside the painting, even changing time slightly was immensely difficult, let alone creating it. Altering life and death was difficult as well. But for someone outside the painting? It would just be one stroke of the brush.

One stroke to add; one to erase; one to give life; one to bring death. The lady in a plain skirt could reverse time and life easily, as she was outside the illusion. She existed outside.

She looked at the universe as a painter would look at a painting.

And how could someone in a painting fight someone holding the brush?

Sui Gujin slowly closed her eyes. She had a bold theory, but it was too outrageous to dwell on.

What if... that lady wasn't just a layer away but several layers away or more? Sui Gujin dared not pursue that thought. Her hand gently touched her belly. There was a new life inside her.

The moment it appeared, she instantly sensed how terrifying it was. It was born without a visible fate.

Why?

It was all because the child wasn't bound by the Dao.

The Breaking Wall Scripture in her hand trembled slightly. She knew that she could only hold this scroll because of the child within her. The child was forcibly suppressed by the terrifying karmic force bound to the scripture.

Since the child was in her womb, its fate became hers.

What she once couldn't do, she now could.

All karma was bypassed.

The shadowy figure suddenly said, "Ruler Sui, the Dao Cang Lineage is furious... They've likely found out that the child's father is Young Master Ye. And right now, he has no way of standing against them."

Sui Gujin showed no expression.

"Oh," she replied, sounding indifferent.

The figure dared not say anything else.

***

Myriad Tribulation Starry World.

Lightning flickered like silver serpents.

Suddenly, a beam of white light shot into the sky, tearing through the tribulation clouds. Even the devastating bolts of lightning were ripped apart by the white light.

A man in white with wild eyes stood in the middle of it. He was none other than the Old God. He looked up at the storm and laughed. "Hahaha! Good! Again!"

He took to the skies and was blasted away.

Just as he was about to rise again, the storm trembled. A ghostly face emerged and hovered above him.

The Old God frowned.

The face looked down and said, "Kill someone for me. Do it, and I will help you break through the chains of your civilization."

The Old God asked, "Who?"

The face said, "Ye Guan."

The Old God frowned deeper. "Never heard of him."

"That doesn't matter. He's in your universe."

The Old God scoffed, "Why would I kill someone I've never met? We have no grudges. In life, you can do many things, but never betray your conscience.

"As for rising beyond... if I manage to rise, it's because I'm capable. If I can't, that's my own problem, not someone else's problem."

The face growled, saying, "This is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

The Old God laughed aloud. "If I've done nothing wrong in life, I'll die with a clear conscience before the heavens."

Then, ignoring the face, he charged at the clouds once more... and was blasted away again.

Three hundred years passed in the tiny pagoda, and today, Ye Guan was sprawled out on a wicker chair, reading a book.

Sunlight engulfed him, making him feel warm.

An unknown amount of time later, he sat up and stretched. White faith energy emanated from him. Ye Guan took a deep breath and looked out. He could see the entire Guanxuan Universe.

He smiled. His words and will were the laws of the Guanxuan Universe.

He was the god of the Guanxuan Universe.
