Chapter 63: Big Sis

Emma woke up, her body still tingling with the remnants of last night’s passion. She let out a soft yawn, her eyes fluttering open as the dim light of the room greeted her. She turned her head to the side, and there he was—Junior, sleeping soundly beside her. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm, his face calm and peaceful. She stared at him for a moment, and then it hit her. Last night. Her face turned bright red, and she swore she could feel smoke rising from her cheeks. Flashes of the night before flooded her mind—the heat, the touch, the whispered words. She could still feel his hands on her skin, his lips against hers.

She turned her head left and right, trying to shake off the shyness that clung to her like a second skin. It worked, sort of. The color in her cheeks faded just a little, but her heart still raced. She slapped both cheeks lightly, trying to ground herself. This is ridiculous, she thought. "It’s not like I didn’t enjoy it," she whispered to herself, her voice barely audible. "I didn’t know sex could be this good. What am I saying?" She buried her face in her hands, the blush returning full force.

"Emma... I love you," Junior murmured in his sleep, his voice soft and dreamy.

Emma’s heart skipped a beat. She turned to look at him again, her lips curving into a smile. She leaned in, stretching her face toward his, and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Thank you for protecting me," she whispered, her voice filled with warmth. She stayed there for a moment, just staring at his face, memorizing every detail. Then she sighed and pulled back.

Her eyes drifted to the window, and her heart sank. The sun had already set, and the room was bathed in the soft, cool light of the evening. "Look at the time," she said hurriedly, her voice tinged with panic. "I need to go meet the kids. They’re having a hard time adjusting to their new home." She leaned in once more, pressing a quick kiss to Junior’s lips. "Take care, my love." She slipped out of bed, quickly throwing on her clothes and making her way to the door.

As she opened the door, she nearly collided with Rebecca, Junior’s little sister. Rebecca was pacing back and forth in front of the room, her face twisted with worry. When she heard the door creak open, she spun around, expecting to see her brother. Instead, her eyes landed on Emma.

"Broth—" Rebecca started, but she stopped mid-word, her eyes widening in surprise. "Big Sis!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with concern.

Emma blinked, pointing at herself in confusion. "Who, me? Big Sis?"

Rebecca nodded vigorously, her hands fidgeting nervously. "Big Sis, is my brother okay? Has he woken up? Is he fine?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Emma replied quickly, trying to keep up with Rebecca’s rapid-fire questions. "Your brother woke up. We talked a little, but he was tired and went back to sleep." In her mind, though, Emma was screaming, I can’t tell you that me and your brother had a steamy night (sex) since the afternoon till now! Her face grew hot, and she could feel the sweat forming on her brow.

Rebecca tilted her head, noticing Emma’s flushed cheeks and the beads of sweat on her forehead. "Big Sis, are you okay?" she asked, her voice soft with concern.

"What? Yes, I’m okay!" Emma replied, forcing a laugh that sounded just a little too loud.

Rebecca narrowed her eyes, squinting at Emma suspiciously. "Suspicious," she muttered under her breath.

Emma’s eyes widened. "What? There’s nothing suspicious going on!" she said, her laugh now bordering on hysterical.

"Your behavior is suspicious," Rebecca said, folding her arms across her chest. She stepped closer, her gaze piercing. "Hmm... Did you and my brother do anything?" she asked, her tone casual but her eyes sharp.

Emma froze. She could feel Rebecca’s stare digging into her, trying to pry the truth out of her. She looked away, unable to meet Rebecca’s innocent, questioning gaze. "No, we didn’t do anything," she said, her voice shaky. She let out a nervous laugh, hoping it would be enough to convince her.

Rebecca didn’t blink. She just kept staring, her arms still crossed. "Stares," she said simply, her voice flat.

Emma gulped. She needed to change the topic, fast. "Haha, in the meantime," she said, her voice a little too cheerful, "why are you calling me Big Sis, Rebecca?"

Rebecca’s expression softened, and she lowered her arms. "You’re my Big Sis," she said matter-of-factly. "Sarah told me that Junior proposed his love to you. That means you’re going to get married to my brother, which automatically makes you family. And that makes you my Big Sister."

Emma’s heart swelled with warmth, and her face flushed even deeper. She couldn’t help herself—she pulled Rebecca into a tight hug, rubbing her cheek against hers. "Yes, you can call me Big Sis!" she squealed. "You’re so cute! I’d love to have you as my little sister!"

Rebecca’s face turned a light shade of pink, and she smiled shyly. "Thanks for becoming my Big Sis," she said softly.

Emma’s heart melted. She squeezed Rebecca even tighter, her face still pressed against hers. "Cuteee," she cooed, unable to contain herself.

"Hmmm hmmm," came a voice from behind them.

Emma jumped, pulling away from Rebecca and turning to see Susan, Rebecca’s personal maid, standing there with her arms crossed and a stern expression on her face.

"Oh, it’s you, Susan," Emma said, trying to sound casual.

"I would appreciate it if you stopped being so friendly with the princess, Miss Emma," Susan said, her tone polite but firm.

Emma smirked, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I think that would be impossible to do," she said, emphasizing the word. "She’s just too cute. And besides, she’ll be my L-I-T-T-L-E S-I-S-T-E-R soon," she added, spelling it out slowly, her smirk widening.

Susan’s eyes narrowed, and she clenched her fists tightly behind her back. "Why, you—" she started, her voice low and dangerous.

"Please, Susan, don’t fight with Big Sis," Rebecca said, her voice tinged with worry. She looked up at Susan with big, pleading eyes.

Susan took a deep breath, forcing herself to relax. She unclenched her fists and placed a hand on Rebecca’s head, patting it gently. "Okay, I won’t fight," she said, though her eyes still burned with annoyance.

Emma couldn’t resist. She made a smug face at Susan, her lips curving into a sly grin. She let out a soft laugh, just loud enough for Susan to hear but quiet enough that Rebecca wouldn’t notice.

Susan’s eye twitched, and she glared at Emma. Her lips moved silently as she mouthed the words, "I will kill you."

Emma laughed again, louder this time. "Lol, you’re just joking," she said, waving her hand dismissively.

Rebecca turned back to Emma, her expression serious once more. "As I was about to say," she started, her voice firm.

But Emma didn’t stick around to hear the rest. She knew exactly where this was going. Before Rebecca could finish her sentence, Emma was already halfway down the hallway. "We’ll see each other tomorrow!" she called over her shoulder. "I’m going to meet the children!"

Rebecca frowned, crossing her arms again. "Big Sis," she said under her breath, her voice filled with determination.

Meanwhile, Emma was halfway down the hallway, her heart still racing. She leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath. "That was close," she muttered, pressing a hand to her chest. "Way too close."

But as she straightened up and continued on her way, a small smile crept onto her face. "Big Sis, huh?" she said softly, the words filling her with a strange warmth.

She couldn’t help but laugh as she walked, the sound echoing through the empty hallway.

Rebecca stood at the edge of the hallway, watching Emma’s figure grow smaller and smaller until she disappeared around the corner. The faint sound of her footsteps faded into silence, leaving only the soft hum of the castle in its wake. Rebecca tilted her head, a small smirk playing on her lips. "Big Sis is so strange," she muttered under her breath.

Susan stepped forward, crossing her arms over her chest as she stood beside Rebecca. Her eyes lingered on the spot where Emma had vanished, her expression a mix of exasperation and mild amusement. "You should forget about her for now, Princess," Susan said, her tone calm but firm. "Let’s go check on your brother."
