Chapter 170: Chapter 170 – The Unshackled Chains

The sky trembled. The sword... was falling.

At first slowly, like a divine object escorted by wind and light. But it didn’t take long before its speed increased. The sound of air and space being ripped apart echoed like the screams of a thousand souls.

SHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Golden light split the clouds. The tip of the divine sword pierced the world’s sky, aimed directly at the new center of power the three death queens who stood without fear.

"Finally," Sylvia muttered. "Took them long enough," scoffed Stacia, her black book floating beside her.

Alicia stepped forward, her long staff glowing in her right hand. At its tip, a small lantern began to glow with a blue-green flame calm, yet exuding a piercing chill.

"I’ll go first," she said softly, and tapped the staff against the ground.

TENG!!!

A strange spiritual metallic sound rang in the air. The lantern shone brighter, and the blue flame stretched upward, forming a complex symbol in the air: a reversed spiral of time, shaped like a cracked hourglass.

BLUWWWHHH!!

A wave of energy swept through the sky. The blue fire enveloped the falling divine sword not to stop it, but to weaken it.

"Flame of Silence," Alicia declared, her eyes glowing white. "Debuff Divine Artifact, status – Penetration. Status – Purity."

The holy aura around the sword began to fracture.

Like ice crystals burning from within, the outer divine light grew brittle. The trailing energy wings flickered, and its fall became unstable.

But it still descended.

And that’s when Stacia stepped in.

"Alright. If you’ve softened it, I’ll boost our weapon."

She opened her book wider. Its pages lit up with symbols of mist and thorns, like contracts written with souls.

"Buffer sigil... Physical Capability +150%." "Booster Magical Affinity +200%." "Output Control +180%."

Each word became a grey-black light flying toward Sylvia. The Chains of Abyss, which had been slithering like a loyal beast around her, suddenly stiffened... then began to vibrate.

Sylvia slowly opened her eyes. Six chains extended from her back, then more... eight... twelve...

TWENTY-FOUR black chains shot out in all directions.

Each chain seemed sentient, dancing through the air like small dark dragons. But Sylvia didn’t control them one by one.

She lowered her hand, and the chains froze.

Still. Waiting.

Then she clenched her right fist.

"Chain Technique—Final Form: Unification."

CLINK!! CLANK!!! CLANK!!!! CLANK!!!!!

The chains began to spin and merge, intertwining in a complex formation that fused power and speed. Some morphed into thick spear tips, others into long blades. All combined into a single massive form:

A colossal chain, the size of a sky-dragon, tipped with a giant spearhead and glowing faintly with the sigil of death in crimson.

"Chains of Abyss: Absolute Form."

Sylvia raised her hand. The chain coiled around her once, then... shot upward.

WHOOOOOOOOOSSSSHH!!

The upward strike clashed with the descending sword.

CLAAANNNNNGGGGG!!!

A clash of divine force and cursed death. The world trembled. The ground beneath cracked anew. Mountains in the distance collapsed. Waves beyond the continent rose like palaces.

Black mist mixed with fragments of golden light.

Her chain struck the base of the divine sword not to destroy it, but to redirect it.

Sylvia gritted her teeth, both hands raised high, bearing the spiritual burden.

"Stacia...!" "Already done! Magic control boosters active!" "Alicia!" "My lantern’s still holding! Stabilizing the aura!"

Sylvia exerted all her strength, then rotated the chain like pulling a rope at the edge of a cliff.

SHHHHHRRRRRRHHHHHHHH!!

The sword began to tilt. No longer falling straight toward them, but now veering toward the far eastern mountains.

"JUST A LITTLE MORE!" Sylvia shouted.

Stacia bit her finger. Her blood turned to mist, feeding one last spell into the air. Alicia drove her staff into the ground, forming a stabilizing array to keep the Death Aura from distorting the chain’s pull.

And finally—

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMM!!!!

The sword crashed... far from them.

A crater formed, but it spared the three.

They had succeeded... in diverting the Divine Blade.

All three collapsed to sit. The mist slowly receded from their bodies.

Alicia laughed softly. "We just woke up... and we’re already playing tug-of-war with a heavenly sword..."

Stacia closed her book. "I need candy."

Sylvia was silent. The great chain unraveled into twenty-four smaller ones, retreating into her shadow.

She gazed at the sky.

"If that was the first... how many more will they send?"

Alicia and Stacia exchanged looks. No answer.

But they knew.

The real war... had just begun.

Far above, in the divine halls where gods and goddesses watched the battle with sharp gazes, the air froze in collective shock.

The holy sword from the heavens a divine weapon said to be capable of leveling a city in an instant had just been deflected by the three freshly awakened queens of death.

"...Huh? How... how did this happen?" murmured Zepharion, God of Wind, pale-faced.

Lumielle, Goddess of Light, stood frozen beside him, eyes wide. "That sword... that was Xynareth’s Divine Blade... even we struggle to alter its course... and they...?"

Elsewhere, Xynareth herself stood stiff, her expression a mix of fury and disbelief. Her clenched fists bled silver. fr\eewebno vel .c(o)m

"That’s impossible... My sword... my Divine Blade... deflected by three newborn creatures?!" she hissed.

Dreigos, God of War, crossed his arms. Normally calm, now he looked deadly serious. "Not just deflected... they did it with ease. They toyed with divine power."

Xynareth glared. "Shut your mouth! This isn’t about my power!"

Zepharion sighed deeply. "This is worse than we thought. Those three entities... are far stronger than our initial estimates."

In another corner, Goddess Ithara closed her eyes and whispered, "They’re no longer mere threats. They are new forces outside our control. We’re not facing one undead entity, but three perfect manifestations of death."

The divine hall fell into heavy silence.

Elsewhere, the World Avatar who had been watching quietly from the dimensional veil let out a relieved breath. His translucent body trembled with the fear that had finally lifted from his shoulders.

"Phew... good thing nothing happened to Sylvia. If it had, the Earth’s World Avatar would’ve come after me..."

He glanced again at the battlefield now calming. The dark mist faded, and the three sisters sat leisurely, as if the divine attack had been mere child’s play.

He shook his head, half in awe, half in exasperation.

"I knew she was strong, but this is ridiculous... I thought they’d struggle against the Divine Blade. Instead, they played with it."

He muttered while watching the three girls joking with each other, ignoring the heavens that had just sent a divine strike.

"Well, at least this world’s still in one piece," he murmured with a faint smile.

Back on the battlefield, the three sisters looked relaxed. Stacia sat with her book in her lap, flipping through the pages with boredom. Alicia stood nearby, idly spinning her lantern with a soft smile, while Sylvia simply stared at the sky, toying with one of her now-normal chains.

"Hmm... looks like the gods are pretty mad about what we just did," Alicia said lightly, still smiling.

Stacia snorted. "Mad? So what? They attacked us first. If they didn’t want retaliation, they should’ve stayed put."

Sylvia chuckled. "True. And they should’ve realized by now that we won’t stay quiet when attacked. If they insist... we’ll just strike back."

Stacia looked at Sylvia with fake seriousness. "Hey, Sylvia. You’ve gotten more savage than usual. Since when were you this aggressive?"

Sylvia smirked. "Who knows? Maybe after spending too long sharing a body with you two."

Alicia giggled. "Doesn’t that mean we’re really close sisters?"

Stacia glanced away, slightly flushed. "Hmph! Don’t say embarrassing things like that."

Sylvia laughed. "Why? Are you shy, Stacia?"

"Shut up!" Stacia grumbled, hiding her face behind her book.

Alicia turned to Sylvia, eyes sparkling. "So, after all this... do you think the gods will send more attacks?"

Sylvia sighed softly, gazing at the slowly clearing sky. "Of course. They won’t stop until one side is completely crushed. But if they want to escalate... I don’t mind."

Alicia shrugged. "Then we’ll just strike back again. We already proved we’re stronger than their sword."

Stacia peeked over her book. "I agree. This is a great chance to show them who really holds power."

The three laughed together, as if they hadn’t just faced divine wrath. Unaware that above them, the gods were frantically planning their next move.

Beyond the sky, the divine council remained deep in debate.

"So... what now?" asked Korthan, finally breaking the silence.

Xynareth clenched her fists. "We attack again. Harder. Faster. Before they grow too powerful."

But Velgrath, God of Endless Night, Keeper of Secrets, and Weaver of Fate, narrowed his eyes at her.

"Don’t be rash. They now fully understand our power. If we fail again, our reputation as divine beings will shatter. We must tread carefully."

The room fell quiet again, tense with uncertainty.

They knew now: the next battle could no longer be taken lightly.

The world now held three new forces far beyond anything they had prepared for.

And that meant the balance they had upheld... was about to shift forever.
