Lin Xiaoxi nodded and ran back into the tent.

After Lin Xiaoxi got ready, she and Ye Chen left the tent together.

"Ye Chen, shall we go find some food first?" Lin Xiaoxi suggested.

Ye Chen thought for a moment and nodded.

"Sure!"

The two of them walked along the stone path in the woods towards the deeper mountains. After about half an hour, Ye Chen stopped, looked at the valley in front of him with a delighted smile on his face, and said, "Found it, our lunch is here!"

"Really?"

Lin Xiaoxi exclaimed with her mouth wide open.

This place was a hill slope, flat and covered with lush green vegetation. Ye Chen and Lin Xiaoxi discovered many wild vegetables and mushrooms on the slope.

"Wow! It’s so beautiful here!" Lin Xiaoxi crouched down, picked a mushroom, and carefully observed its shape and leaves.

Meanwhile, Ye Chen crouched down, picked a bright red, big apple, put it in his pocket, slung it over his shoulder, and walked towards the valley.

Ye Chen and Lin Xiaoxi collected various fungi and fruits while walking along the hillside.

Although it was a summer morning, the mountains still carried a hint of coolness.

Lin Xiaoxi, being pressed down, was somewhat out of breath but did not panic; instead, she lifted her leg and fiercely stomped on Ye Chen’s foot.

Ye Chen winced, gritting his teeth, his eyes widening in an instant.

Lin Xiaoxi laughed uncontrollably, got up while laughing, and patted the dirt off her body, saying, "You jerk, that’s what you get for pretending to be nice, let’s see if you dare to tease me again!"

Ye Chen, enduring the pain, stood up and pointed at Lin Xiaoxi, but couldn’t utter a word.

Lin Xiaoxi laughed triumphantly.

Ye Chen gave a helpless smile, then walked to the edge of the bushes and picked a rose to give to Lin Xiaoxi: "Here, this is for you!"

Lin Xiaoxi looked at the boldly blooming red rose and her cheeks instantly flushed.

Ye Chen smiled and scratched his head.

Lin Xiaoxi held the rose to her chest, her cheeks rosy like peach blossoms. She folded the petals into a flower wreath and wore it on her head.

Ye Chen looked at her charmingly beautiful appearance and suddenly felt a bit dizzy.

She was so beautiful, like a rose blooming in a world of ice and snow, pure and seductive yet without losing elegance and innocence.

Ye Chen stared at her somewhat fascinated.

"Hey, stop staring and help me pick mushrooms!" Lin Xiaoxi shyly protested.

Ye Chen quickly snapped back to reality and cheerfully headed towards the bushes.

The two picked mushrooms while playfully frolicking, not noticing the day gradually darkening.

Ye Chen suddenly realized he had spent the entire day on the hillside.

He checked the time and found it was already six in the evening.

"Let’s go, we should head back to the cave," Ye Chen said to Lin Xiaoxi.

"Okay!"

Lin Xiaoxi put the mushrooms in her basket, and the two, laden with various wild vegetables and mushrooms, walked toward the valley.

Walking on the rugged mountain path, Lin Xiaoxi suddenly asked, "Ye Chen, are we going to camp tonight?"

"Camping? No need, we can just stay in the cave."

Ye Chen shook his head, "We must be fully prepared to handle it, we can’t rashly sleep at the mountain top."

"Oh!"

Lin Xiaoxi nodded.

Ye Chen carried the basket, and the two continued to climb towards the mountain peak.

After about thirty minutes, they finally reached the summit.

There was a large cave at the top of the peak.

Ye Chen entered the cave, followed by Lin Xiaoxi, who then sat on a protruding rock next to the cave.

This cave was narrow, created by a landslide.

"Ye Chen, you go gather some firewood to make a fire, and I’ll pick up some dry grass. How about we set up the tent here tonight?" Lin Xiaoxi, tilting her face upward, asked Ye Chen.

Ye Chen nodded and then walked out of the cave.

He stepped outside, found a long stick on the cliffside, pulled it out forcefully, and then walked into the cave with it in hand.

Entering the center of the cave, Ye Chen tapped the cave wall with the long stick and found an opening. He went inside.

The cave was very dark with extremely faint light.

"Phew!"

Ye Chen set up a fire, then began eating some dry food.

"Mmm... smells good..."

Lin Xiaoxi peeked out from the cave entrance, saw a few pieces of meat roasting over the campfire, and immediately started drooling.

She walked to Ye Chen’s side, took out her own dry food, tore off a piece and stuffed it into her mouth.

Watching her relish her food, Ye Chen also tore off a large chunk and threw it into his mouth.

"Ye Chen, we really owe you one this time!"

Lin Xiaoxi chewed the food in her mouth and looked at Ye Chen.

"It’s nothing, we share our joys and sorrows, looking after each other is not a big deal!" Ye Chen said with a smile.

"Hehe, is that so? Then I will definitely never forget your great kindness, Ye Chen!"

"Alright, let’s not waste time!" urged Ye Chen, then started skillfully skinning their catch.

After skinning, Ye Chen placed the prey next to the campfire for roasting.
