I Don't Want To Be An Omega In My Sister's Trashy Reverse Harem [BL] -
Chapter 41: Repaid Painfully!
Chapter 41: Repaid Painfully!
Rin left the clinic, and also left Silas there before leaving for the headmaster’s office. He has no idea why he has been summoned by the headmaster for the second time. The first meeting didn’t end well and he was sure the second meeting would end up just like the first one.
He stood outside the headmaster’s office again, eyes locked on the thick wooden door like it owed him money.
He didn’t move. Not even a twitch. Just stared at the brass handle with dread pooling in his stomach like poison.
’Why am I here again? What did I do this time? Did someone catch Lucien and me that night and report to him? If I get thrown out of the academy and kidnapped by a hentai Duke, am I going to survive? I curse you, Mina!’
He started to imagine things that would happen to him. He has no knowledge of the kingdom map. Even if he was in trouble, he would get discarded by the academy, not killed. It wasn’t like he poisoned someone. Or spat in a noble’s drink. Or lit a dorm on fire.
His hand hovered near the doorknob, but he didn’t grab it. His body refused to. He just stood there, mentally preparing himself for whatever lecture, warning, or threat the headmaster had for him today.
DING!
[System Notice - You are currently 98% anxious. Would you like to collapse? Y/N]
"No," Rin muttered under his breath, eyes still glued to the handle. "And shut up. I’ve got this,"
[System Suggestion - Try breathing. Or running. Either is good.]
He let out a slow exhale. It was the first time the system had given him a good idea. His body was a bit relaxed as he reached for the knob again.
Just as his fingers brushed the handle, a strong hand covered his.
He froze as his back touched something solid. Hard. Warm.
A Chest! A broad one.
He stared at the hand again, wondering who it was. Silas? No, he left Silas at the clinic, and he won’t come after him... Maybe.
He tried to turn to look at the person but... his deep voice hummed just above his ear.
"Why are you just standing here?"
Rin’s eyes widened as he recognised that voice. He slowly turned his head.
Evan Fucking Vortellion.
The smile on his face was a slow grin, almost lazy. His grey eyes shimmered under the hallway lights, dangerous and amused.
Rin blinked, instantly frowning.
"You... again?"
Still, he bowed with his hand on his chest. Commoner instincts.
"Greetings... Lord Vortellion."
Evan chuckled.
"Why so formal? We’re practically friends by now."
Rin internally gagged.
’Friends? I’d rather hug a porcupine.’
Out loud, he said nothing. He straightened his back, taking his eyes from Evan. He didn’t even want to maintain eye contact for more than five seconds.
Evan stared at him a moment longer, then suddenly reached out and tilted Rin’s chin up.
Rin’s eyes widened. He wished he could push him away but he couldn’t treat Evan the way he did to Lucien.
"You’ve gotten leaner," Evan muttered. "Are you not eating properly?"
"I’m fine," Rin said sharply, jerking his face away. "And please... refrain from touching me so casually."
Evan raised both hands in mock surrender, still grinning. "Touchy."
"No, you’re touchy."
With a glare, Rin pushed the door open and stepped inside before Evan could say another word.
Only for the headmaster to whip his head up and scowl. "Rin Elric! Why in the world are you so late when I...?"
He stopped mid-yell as his face changed completely when Evan stepped in behind Rin.
"L-Lord Vortellion!" the headmaster exclaimed, practically throwing himself around the desk. "Forgive me! I didn’t know you were coming today!"
Rin was shoved aside like a mop bucket.
He stumbled and hit the door frame. He groaned in pain as he grabbed his arm, grumbling...
"I’m right here, you know!"
But the headmaster didn’t even look at him. He was too busy fawning.
"What an unexpected honour!" the man gushed, voice several pitches higher than usual. "Is there something you need? Anything at all?"
"I was just passing through," Evan said smoothly, sliding onto the couch with the grace of a panther. "Don’t mind me. Continue your meeting with Assistant Rin."
The headmaster blinked.
"I was just about to discipline him. You... don’t mind?"
Rin furrowed a brow when he heard that.
’Discipline? Did I really do something wrong?’
Evan saw the worried expression on Rin’s face and leaned back, tossing one leg over the other. "Not at all. I’m sure I’m going to enjoy watching you discipline him,"
Rin’s stomach twisted. He knew he was in danger. Evan is the kind of man who enjoys watching Omegas getting tortured and bullied. He is so heartless that he would never try to help them.
The headmaster straightened with an awkward cough and walked stiffly back to his desk. He was thinking of a way to impress Evan with his act already.
He reached under a pile of documents and slammed a folder onto the floor in front of Rin.
"Pick that up."
Rin lowered his head to look at it before staring back at the headmaster, wearing a ’What is that’ look.
"Have you gone deaf? I said Pick it up!" He yelled. It was so obvious that he was trying hard to please Evan.
Rin bent down, grabbed it, and flipped it open.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw the content in the file.
’What...?’
It was a removal request... From the Vortellion Estate.
His name was printed clearly across the top.
Subject: Rin Elric
Status: Marked for Removal
Recommendation: Termination of Contract
Issued By: Julian Vortellion
Rin stared at it, numb.
’Julian... Vortellion?’
He helped that freak survive... Even changing the story plot because of him... And this was how he got repaid?
His eyes drifted up toward Evan, who was watching him calmly.
There was a smugness to his expression. Like a cat watching a mouse realise it had no way out.
The headmaster’s voice sliced through the air.
"What did you do?"
Rin blinked.
"What?"
"You angered the Vortellions! And now they’ve sent this!" The headmaster jabbed a finger at the file. "Do you have any idea what this means?"
"I don’t even know Julian Vortellion!" Rin snapped, voice rising.
"You’re lying!" the man bellowed. "You think they’d target a ’nobody’ for fun?! You wronged them, and now they want you gone!"
He turned, opening a drawer with fury, and pulled out Rin’s termination letter. It was already written and signed. All it needed was a stamp for it to be official.
He slammed it on the desk and pulled out a heavy silver stamp.
"Wait," Rin gasped. "You’re firing me? Just like that?"
"You’re a threat to this school’s ties with the Vortellions!" the headmaster yelled. "If they want you gone, I’ll have to relieve you of your duties!"
He raised the stamp.
RIP!
The paper tore.
Rin blinked as he watched the paper fall on the floor as it was ripped to shreds. Evan stood beside him now, pieces of the file fluttering to the ground like snowflakes.
The headmaster froze, mouth open.
"L-Lord Vortellion..."
"I like him," Evan said simply, his hand on Rin’s waist.
"...What?" His jaw dropped. Even Rin himself was shocked to hear that.
"I like Rin. He’s a good assistant." Evan looked Rin up and down. "And the academy can’t afford to lose someone so... beautiful."
Rin’s mouth dropped as he turned to peep at Evan’s face, grumbling...
"I didn’t ask for your help!"
Evan’s hand tightened around his waist and he flinched.
It was a silent command: shut up.
Rin immediately obeyed.
Evan smiled at the headmaster.
"Ignore Julian. I have the power to override his decision. Consider this matter... closed."
The headmaster hesitated. He looked at Rin and back at the headmaster before bowing his head.
"As you wish, My Lord"
He finally turned to Rin, his tone clipped.
"Be more careful. You may leave. I’ll speak with Lord Vortellion now."
But Evan raised a hand,
"No need. I didn’t come for business."
He looked at Rin again and smirked.
"I came for someone."
The headmaster’s eyes lit up with fake excitement.
"Oh? A student perhaps? A talented young mind that caught your interest?"
"Yes," Evan said, wrapping an arm around Rin’s shoulders. "Him."
The headmaster’s smile cracked.
"...Rin?"
The Duke nodded his head.
"He’s not talented," the man added weakly.
"I still want him," Evan said smoothly. "Just for the two weeks I’ll be staying on campus."
Rin opened his mouth to refuse.
Evan’s hand dropped from his shoulders... and rested on his lower back again. It was tight again and even more possessive.
’Shit.’
The headmaster sighed, defeated.
"I’ll send him to you after the head doctor’s rut ends. In three days."
"Perfect." Evan clasped his hands, excited. "I’ll wait. I’m a very patient man,"
He walked toward the door, dragging Rin with him.
As soon as they stepped outside, Rin shoved his hand off.
"What the hell was that?"
"I told you," Evan said lazily. "I came for you."
"That’s bullshit. Lucien’s off doing his final exams and you’re just bored."
Evan smirked. "Maybe."
"Well, find someone else to entertain you. I’m way too busy for that,"
"I could," he said, rubbing his chin before grinning. "But none of them are hiding their true identity like you are."
Rin stopped walking. He furrowed his brows, looking back at Evan.
"...What? What are you talking about?"
Evan leaned against the wall, his smile widening.
"You know I’m just a step away,"
"Step away from what?" He frowned.
Evan dramatically pointed at the door.
"Refuse me and I’ll push that door and reveal the truth to the headmaster,"
Rin’s throat dried.
"You wouldn’t."
"I might." He trailed his finger on the door.
"You know you’re an asshole."
"I’m your asshole for the next two weeks."
Rin clenched his teeth. He couldn’t say anything to this man. Nothing he said was getting through to him. He shut his eyes and exhaled deeply before opening them again.
"Fine. After the head doctor’s rut ends in three days, I’ll come to your mansion,"
"I’ll wait for you." Evan lifted his hand, brushing the chain of his earring with his thumb. It sparkled in the light. "But don’t keep me waiting... I won’t be patient when that happens,"
Then he turned and walked away without another word.
Rin stood there for a long time... heart thudding... with Evan’s threat replaying in his head like a siren.
DING!
[System Alert - New Quest: Survive Two Weeks Without Killing Evan Vortellion.]
[System Reward - Continued employment and not getting exposed.]
[System Note - You’re welcome.]
Rin whispered quietly, dead-faced,
"I never said ’Thank you’"
DING!
[You’re welcome]
"I’m going to bury you alive. One day,"
