Chapter 1829: Chapter 260: Wushuang is Pregnant

Supporting each other for over a decade, their bond was as deep as the ocean; the two closest people in the world had long shared no secrets.

Yet, for the first time, Mi Bai saw such tension on Lu Xuening’s face.

Gently holding the icy, trembling hand of his wife, the scholar spoke in a low, steady voice: "Don’t panic. I am here."

From a practical standpoint, a man’s comfort often provided little use. Matters that could worry a disciple of the Hundred Herbs Immortal Mansion were rarely ones that a scholar could resolve.

But at times, when people were trapped in desperate circumstances, they didn’t plead for a divine weapon to vanquish all foes; they sought merely a sliver of spiritual solace.

At least, in that moment, Mi Bai’s words quickly steadied Lu Xuening’s emotions. Her fingers tightened, gripping his palm urgently as she said, "Unparalleled City is no longer safe to remain in. We must take the children and leave at once!"

"What exactly has frightened you so? Speak it to me, and let us deliberate together. Even if we must leave, shouldn’t we first explain things clearly to the Dean?"

Mi Bai guided Lu Xuening to a seat and knelt before her on one knee, looking up with a smile. "Xiao Fan has long dreamed of becoming a disciple under the Dean’s tutelage. Now that he finally has the chance to register, you want to take him away? Isn’t that too cruel?"

The mention of the Dean seemed to strike a nerve, as Lu Xuening trembled all over, her eyes filled with alarm.

She glanced around nervously. Their usually warm and cozy room seemed to chill with an oppressive tension. Forcing herself to stay composed, she leaned toward Mi Bai and voiced her thoughts telepathically.

"We must leave! Lady Tang is showing signs of pregnancy, and I suspect she’s having an affair with the Dean. If the truth comes to light, the Void Grandmaster will lose his mind!"

Initially, Mi Bai didn’t quite grasp her words. By the time they sank in, he finally understood why his wife was so terrified.

As the most closely guarded secret of Unparalleled City, the truth about Dean Tang Luo’s identity was known only to a select few at the core.

Mi Bai had always known, but since it involved Tang Luo, he had never disclosed it to Lu Xuening. Instead, he vaguely explained that the Dean was an old acquaintance he had met in Xiling who admired his calligraphy and paintings.

Because of this, Lu Xuening had never connected the Dean with Tang Luo, assuming they were entirely unrelated individuals.

Moreover, the world knew that the Void Grandmaster was currently serving confinement imposed by the Langhuan Sword Master, with his sentence just halfway through. This made it even less likely for anyone to link the two figures together.

Now that Yun Xiu was showing signs of pregnancy, it was only natural for suspicions to run wild. And truthfully, it wasn’t just Lu Xuening—many in Unparalleled City had long thought it improper for Lady Tang to leave Yuanzhou during her husband’s sentence, only to come to Red Cloud Mountain to oversee the Marshal Star Pavilion.

But naturally, no one dared to gossip openly. Yet, in their hearts, many criticized Lady Tang for lacking proper virtues.

Particularly as Yun Xiu had recently gone on two work trips with the Dean of Unparalleled Institute, tongues started wagging even more.

Now that Yun Xiu had returned, she hadn’t sought the renowned physician Sun Jinfang for treatment but had instead secretly summoned Lu Xuening, repeatedly urging her to keep everything quiet.

Keep it quiet?

Lu Xuening only wanted to flee this den of scandal immediately. Just imagining what would happen if the loyalists of Unparalleled City discovered their Lady’s disgrace was enough to terrify her—this place would become a battleground drenched in blood.

And once the adulterer’s identity was unveiled, the situation would spiral into far greater chaos.

Over ten years ago, she had seen that proud and unruly prodigy of Unparalleled City once. She knew exactly how arrogant and unyielding Tang Luo was, unwilling to compromise even in the face of the Grandmasters of Martial Saint Mountain.

Now, having risen to the status of a Grandmaster himself, and as the youngest, most formidable one in all of Xiehe, could anyone force him to back down?

Such a notion was beyond Lu Xuening’s imagination.

She could already foresee a battle of epic proportions unfolding before her eyes. How, then, could her oblivious husband remain so oblivious?

"Stop grinning and get moving! If Lady Tang has second thoughts later, we won’t be able to escape!"

Seeing Mi Bai’s carefree smile, Lu Xuening’s frustration spiked as she snapped indignantly.

"You’ve misunderstood, my dear!"

Realizing that his wife would only grow more frightened if he delayed any longer, Mi Bai half-rose from his kneeling posture and leaned in to whisper the truth beside Lu Xuening’s ear.

As Mi Bai revealed the truth, Lu Xuening’s lips parted slightly, then froze into a silent gape.

...

In the Dean’s office, Tang Luo sat in a melancholy daze. Something had felt amiss ever since his return.

Though he had devoted most of his energy to deducing world phenomena, he always kept a mindful eye on specific individuals.

For instance, the left side of his desk had not seen a new pot of soup for three full days!

This was a grave matter indeed, as Yun Xiu used to constantly concoct soups for him, replenishing the pot endlessly.

For three whole days, nothing. What did this signify?

The woman had fallen out of love!?

At that precise moment, the secret door leading into the Dean’s office opened. It was a passage exclusively used by the Lady to deliver soup. However, unlike previous visits, this time her steps were lively—yet her hands were empty!

Tang Luo’s face turned ashen, his mind conjuring a scene of mutual disdain, a woman coming to propose a breakup. The temperature in the room plummeted.

"Why is it so cold in here?"

Unaware of her husband’s reaction, Yun Xiu entered the room, rubbing her arms against the sudden chill. "I have something to tell you."

"Don’t even think about it! I won’t agree!"

Turning his head stubbornly, Tang Luo retorted in a sullen voice.

"???"

Confused, Yun Xiu looked at her agitated husband. Stepping closer, she lightly patted his head, irritated. "I haven’t even told you what it is yet. What are you objecting to?"

"You promised to cook soup for me for the rest of my life!"

Tang Luo turned abruptly, pointing toward the scorched edge of a book weighed down on his desk. "But it’s been three days without soup! You liar!"

"Did no one ever teach you? The prettier a woman, the better she is at lying."

Yun Xiu glanced at the book, unimpressed. With zero remorse, she rolled her eyes. "Not only have I stopped cooking these past three days, I won’t step into the kitchen for the next year either. If you want soup, make it yourself!"

She had really fallen out of love!

Tang Luo glared at Yun Xiu resentfully, cursing the fact that his eyes lacked the power of Charming Eyes.

But seeing the unrepentant, unapologetic determination in her gaze, he realized the situation was irreparable. Betting it all on the last shreds of a warrior’s pride, he asked in a trembling voice: "Why!?"

"Because..."

Yun Xiu gently caressed her lower abdomen, her face lighting up with a compassionate glow, so radiant it was almost blinding. "I’m expecting."

Her words left Tang Luo blinking, his mind briefly stalled. "Expecting... expecting what?"

"You’re going to be a father!"

Smiling indulgently, Yun Xiu added softly.

"Me? A father?!"

Tang Luo shot up to his feet, his face draining of all color in an instant.

I am Tang Luo, revered as the Martial Arts Monarch, and half a step away from sainthood.

I have mastered every conceivable form of physical combat, can mimic any Spirit Art form with just one glance, and my eyes can analyze the fundamental laws of the Great Thousand World itself.

But right now... I’m panicking!
