Chapter 1817: Chapter 248: Unreasonable
The return of the sect head brought a sense of stability to the group that had been aimlessly scrambling for three days. After all, the sect head—ever since he revealed his cultivation level—had essentially become a divine figure in the hearts of the residents of Unparalleled City, embodying omnipotence.
Yun Xiaoxiao from the Wind Media Department led Tang Luo and Yun Xiu, accompanied by a crowd of Marshal Star Pavilion warriors, to the quiet chamber where Du Sha was last seen.
However, while the quiet chamber appeared empty to everyone else, Tang Luo saw a world entirely different.
Aside from the natural circulation of Heavenly and Earthly Qi, there was also a spatial location marked by the sect head using spiritual intent.
"Recall all dispersed Wind Media members and warriors immediately."
Seeing this familiar spiritual intent, Tang Luo naturally knew who was causing this disturbance. After calmly issuing his directive to Yun Xiaoxiao, he turned and walked out.
Truth be told, for someone as advanced in cultivation as him, it was rare for emotions to dictate his actions. In other words, he rarely made decisions based on his likes or dislikes, favoring instead a path that adhered to the principles of his own Dao.
In nature, all elements collide fiercely—they require both tranquility and submission as well as brutality and aggression.
Regarding Cao Lie and his research, Tang Luo did not favor them, but he showed his disdain by keeping his distance.
I don’t provoke you, and you shouldn’t provoke me either.
During his last encounter with the Dragon Beasts, Tang Luo had made this attitude clear. Yet, it was evident that the King of Luyang paid no heed to his warning.
Vanishing into the wind, Tang Luo used his spiritual vision to clear a vacuum path through the currents of Primary Qi, allowing him to traverse the Great Thousand World with near-teleportation speed.
Reappearing with a darkened expression, Tang Luo materialized in a secluded canyon within the North Mountain region.
"I’ve waited three whole days, and finally, you’ve graced us with your arrival, sir."
Reclining among the clouds, half-draped in a royal dragon robe, Cao Lie wore a radiant smile. "Take a look at this battlefield. What does sir think of it?"
In the canyon below, the fragmented battlefield littered with crystalline shards revealed two blood-soaked dragon beasts surrounding Du Sha front and back. The Dragon Clan’s mighty physical prowess combined with the Human Race’s unique Spirit Art system rendered these two dragon beasts astonishingly powerful.
Claws, horns, bloodline abilities, and martial Spirit Arts—each attack carried immense threat, and the coordination between the two dragon beasts was exceptionally seamless. Their rhythmic beastly roars seemed to encrypt messages that made their teamwork all the more harmonious.
The unrelenting barrage left Du Sha, clad in crystal armor, staggering in disarray, seemingly on the verge of defeat.
Judging by the current scene, it was hard to imagine why it was the dragon beasts that were injured, rather than Du Sha.
But Tang Luo, as a foremost Grandmaster of martial arts, discerned the truth within moments of observation.
"During the later stages of the Dark Age, a Grandmaster once stated: If demonic beasts possessed a complete system of written language and martial inheritance, there’d never be suspense in a war between humans and beasts."
Gazing at the battlefield below, Tang Luo squinted and spoke indifferently, "Using human intelligence to command a beast’s body in combat—the results are indeed extraordinary."
"Hahaha! I knew it! Sir is one who truly understands the value of this research!"
Sitting up amid the clouds, Cao Lie laughed exuberantly. "Why not come to Luyang and assist me? Once this research is complete, we can rewrite Xiehe’s paradigm and achieve true immortality!"
"You call this immortality?"
Tang Luo mocked, "Borrowing a beast’s body to transfer souls and cling to life, or deceiving Grandmasters into inhabiting foreign spiritual forms. Even a petty thief knows to curl up and shield their head when beaten. Your shamelessness is truly one of a kind."
"Nobility, baseness, kindness, evil."
Clapping his knee, Cao Lie roared with laughter. "These are merely shackles. For individuals like us, if we don’t cast aside these constraints, how can we ascend to higher realms? Xiehe has seen countless brilliant Saint Kings who ultimately succumbed to the limits of their lifespan. I do not presume my talent surpasses theirs. However, if the issue of longevity can be resolved, who’s to say that, given double or triple the effort, I can’t reach greater heights?"
"The world remembers only the outcome, not the means. As long as success is achieved, these minor sacrifices—who will care about them?"
As the two spoke, the tides of battle in the canyon shifted once more. Du Sha, who had been passively enduring the assault, began to counterattack. His soul-enhanced Black Light Mysterious Cauldron domed over the head of the blue-scaled, four-legged dragon beast, while the Black Light Divine Sword rained down incessantly. Though each strike only managed to scratch the surface of the scales, a ceaseless barrage could soon become perilous.
Shi Sanke wailed and fled, but the Black Light Mysterious Cauldron pursued relentlessly like a lingering shadow, displaying an unswerving tenacity.
Meanwhile, the crystal-armored colossal Du Sha’s body enlarged as scattered crystalline shards on the ground transformed into flowing crystal sand, surging backward and drilling into the gaps between the scales of Xiang Dongyou’s dragon beast. These fine crystalline needles infiltrated through pores, invading the meridians.
The battlefield’s dynamics shifted swiftly. The previously dominant dragon beasts suddenly found themselves suppressed and endangered, seemingly on the brink of death.
Cao Lie frowned, activating the soul formation within Xiang Dongyou’s dragon form. Torrential Heavenly and Earthly Qi surged in, shattering the crystalline needles. His spiritual intent descended again, forcibly thrusting the Black Light Mysterious Cauldron back into Du Sha’s body and restraining his movements.
The canyon, veiled by the rules of the domain, offered no visibility of the outside world. Yet Shi Sanke and Xiang Dongyou, upon seeing Du Sha frozen in place, immediately knew it was once again Cao Lie intervening.
Such experiences had become the norm over the past three days. The two dragon beasts, failing in their assault, would repeatedly rely on Cao Lie’s intervention for recovery time before analyzing their failures.
This sensation of having the heavens seemingly align with their efforts was admittedly enjoyable. Yet, in terms of combat experience, neither dragon beast truly wished to continue fighting.
Over these three days, they’d corrected every flaw they could, coordinated as perfectly as possible, and yet inevitably met with sudden suppression and defeat.
The two dragon beasts exchanged wide-eyed glances, panting heavily as they seized every second to recover, contemplating what else could be improved.
Cao Lie was unaware of the urgency felt by the dragon beasts. While suppressing Du Sha with spiritual intent, he continued speaking to Tang Luo: "Take this battle in the canyon as an example. The two dragon beasts are inferior to the Horned Lodge, but as long as they’re given sufficient time, victory remains possible. Achieving the result is all that matters, wouldn’t you agree, sir?"
"I believe the result you desire, sir, will never be achieved."
Shooting Cao Lie a cold remark, the silver wheels within Tang Luo’s dual pupils began to spin. Divine Light tore through the rules veiling the canyon, striking down upon Shi Sanke and Xiang Dongyou’s beastly forms.
In an instant, the soul formations of Shi Sanke and Xiang Dongyou were erased, leaving them lost and disoriented. With wild roars, they charged towards the immobilized Du Sha.
Their stout hind legs struck the ground heavily as they sprinted forward, but after only a few steps, they collapsed violently to the ground. The massive dragon bodies began convulsing.
"These happen to be my favorite toys, sir. Isn’t it rather rude to destroy them without notice?"
Clicking his tongue at the sight of the two dying dragon beasts, Cao Lie remarked.
