Chapter 1815: Chapter 246: Counterattack of the Heavenly Dragon

On the Reflection Cliff of Suspending Pot Peak, the mountain ridge connects to the summit, surrounded by rosy clouds and guarded by rolling mountains that stretch across the horizon. The seasons here are like eternal spring.

Within the Self-Reflection Cave at the summit, intricately carved statues of the ancestors of the Yiqi and Jiang factions are enshrined on the stone walls. The brows and eyes of the statues radiate the utmost warmth and compassion, their vivid craftsmanship seeming to dispel inner shadows upon meeting their gaze, granting serenity and joy.

Outside the cave, the cliff rises steeply for thousands of feet, bordering an abyss where clouds never disperse, birds rarely perch, and the occasional golden eagle streaks through the sky amidst howling winds.

Such a perilous place is rarely visited even by insects or birds over the years, yet this morning it was unusually bustling.

Nearly all the prominent figures of the Yiqi lineage were present, as were the masters of Little Miasma Peak. The Divine Sect’s leaders and powerful beings from various peaks lined the path.

They weren’t there to pay homage to Tang Luo but to lend their support to Yiqi Tianlong.

How matters had reached this point today was beyond anyone’s expectations—just as Jiang Fuling had not foreseen the shadow looming over Longzhou would so swiftly evolve into a curtain blotting out the heavens.

Nor had they anticipated the situation to descend so rapidly over a mere few years, such that even the Hundred Herbs Divine Monarch could no longer hold his ground.

If the opponent had been outright ruthless and venomous, they might have sought assistance from the Three Realms Holy Land. However, this person had approached with respect and propriety, giving no room for fault, and their offered terms had been so enticing that the Divine Sect found it difficult to refuse.

While the Divine Sect could establish favorable relations with a figure destined to dominate multiple eras and reap practical benefits from it, the only one truly aggrieved was Dao Child Tianlong.

A disciple sacrificing for the sect wasn’t usually considered significant, but in this case, the Divine Sect bore undeniable guilt. Therefore, these powerful figures had gathered today to welcome Tianlong down from the mountain—a display even surpassing the ceremony for his Dao Child investiture.

At the foot of the mountain were the vaguely apologetic Divine Sect elites, midway up, the jubilant relatives of Tianlong—all waiting for Dao Child’s descent, evidently having waited for quite some time.

Jiang Qinjiao had also thoughtfully escorted Tang Luo and Yun Xiu here. If Red Cloud’s new Wang Qian had earlier visited the Undying World merely as a routine guest, then Tang Luo’s victory over the Hundred Herbs Divine Monarch through a wager had elevated him to a guest among revered guests.

The various Divine Sect elites and peak masters either offered him formal bows or smiles and nods, as if greeting an esteemed confidant or old acquaintance.

In turn, Tang Luo politely returned each gesture. After meeting with Jiang Fuling, he looked around and asked, "Chief Jiang, may I ask why Dao Child Tianlong is nowhere to be seen?"

"This morning, Tianlong returned to the cave to pack his belongings; he should be descending shortly."

Jiang Fuling said humbly with clasped hands, "Tianlong has a proud and unyielding nature. If his cultivation offended the Dean in any way, I beseech your generous understanding."

"Chief Jiang, you’re far too courteous."

Tang Luo waved his hand dismissively while turning his gaze towards the summit. With his Breaking Illusions Eyes, he perceived what lay at the horizon as if it were within reach, observing every detail of the towering mountain—but found no trace of life within the restriction’s bounds.

Suddenly alarmed, Tang Luo hastily said to Jiang Fuling, "I can’t sense any human presence within the restriction! I must trouble Chief Jiang to have someone unlock it and check inside the cave!"

"Huh!?"

Jiang Fuling, who had thought everything was under control, turned pale. With a flick of his robe, he swiftly darted toward the mountain peak.

His abrupt movement startled the masters of Little Miasma Peak and the sect leaders of the Medicine God Sect, causing unease. Dozens of streaks of clouds converged upon the Reflection Cliff.

Standing at the cave entrance, Jiang Fuling and Yiqi Weimao gazed inside with grief-stricken expressions.

Inside the Self-Reflection Cave, poisonous flowers and vile vegetation had grown rampant, covering the walls. The vibrant purple vines seemed poised to eclipse the ancestral statues of the sect. The cave was overrun with colorful, carapace-covered serpents and centipedes, alongside a dense toxic miasma that refused to dissipate, turning the cave into a true death trap.

Amidst this horrifying terrain, however, lay an immaculate meditation mat. The flowers recoiled, the poison beasts avoided its path. Atop the mat, Yiqi Tianlong sat cross-legged with his eyes closed, head bowed, lips faintly curled into an expression of mocking amusement—utterly devoid of life.

Jiang Fuling’s eyes brimmed with sorrow, and Yiqi Weimao’s face was steeped in regret. Although he had always known his disciple’s intense disposition, he had thought that the intervention of relatives and mentors could persuade Tianlong to compromise. He never expected that such efforts would culminate in this outcome.

The peaks’ powerful figures and mountain masters arrived shortly after the two but were equally struck with a combination of shock and rage upon witnessing the scene inside the cave.

Yiqi Tianlong’s actions, viewed through their lens, amounted to defiance against sect orders—a violation intolerable within sects where adherence to the master-disciple bond was paramount.

More pressing still was the dire practical consequence at hand—how they would face Tang Luo.

The Medicine God Sect had lost the wager, yet now lacked the means to honor its terms. This would undoubtedly threaten the sect’s standing in Zhongzhou.

The credibility of millennia, reduced to ashes due to the defiance of a single Dao Child—this blow to the already precarious state of the sect was akin to adding frost to snow.

"This is the kind of disciple your Yiqi Clan raises!"

A disgruntled sect master lashed out at the Yiqi family members just arriving at Reflection Cliff. Seeing the situation inside the cave, the Yiqi family head’s legs buckled as he nearly fainted in terror.

At the base of the mountain, Tang Luo shook his head helplessly and said dejectedly to Yun Xiu, "Let’s go."

"Dao Child Tianlong?"

"Dead."

Tang Luo said flatly, "He was better than me; he’d rather die than do something against his True Heart."

Though his tone was calm, his fists clenched tightly within his sleeves. Were it not for the irrevocable nature of death, he would have liked to crack open the minds of the Medicine God Sect’s leaders to see if they were filled with dung or feces.

How was it possible for such a minor matter to have gone so awry?

Tianlong’s death did not tug at his emotions, but the resulting consequences would affect people of importance and disrupt the plans he had laid out.

He cast another glance toward the peak, his gaze bypassing the sect’s powerful figures and mountain masters to settle on Tianlong’s lifeless figure.

It was clear without needing to ask whom the mocking expression of three-parts disdain and seven-parts scorn was directed at. Rage surged within Tang Luo. Why was it that these Dao Children and Saint Children, every single one of them, refused to bring peace?

Was he truly the embodiment of some villainous archetype? Why was it that so many would rather die than oppose him?

His anger boiling over, Tang Luo’s piercing stare landed on Jiang Qinjiao, startling the Divine Sect’s outer elder.

"Dean..."

He bowed stiffly in respect, hoping to placate Tang Luo, only to feel a sudden heat flare in his chest. Looking down, he saw the white scroll acquired from He Shou Peak being burned up, turning to ash and dispersing in the breeze.

Panic-stricken, he frantically patted his chest, but when the ashes drifted away, Tang Luo and Yun Xiu’s silhouettes were already gone.

...

Outside the Undying World

The surging sea of clouds mirrored Tang Luo’s turbulent heart. Between the uncontrollable situation and the tangle of guilt, he was left uncertain about how he should confront the matters ahead.

Seeing her husband’s inner turmoil, Yun Xiu gently clasped Tang Luo’s hand in reverse and softly asked, "Shall we think of another way?"

"There’s no other way. This is a poison spirit that has stepped outside my path. Even Yiqi Tianlong would have needed to open the restrictions before he could harness it. But now, Yiqi Tianlong is dead."

Tang Luo sighed deeply in lamentation, "Even gods can only demand of people what mortals are capable of achieving..."
