Chapter 1780: Chapter Two Hundred Thirteen: Beach Landing, Fierce Battle

Surging Rock Beach

Spirit beasts surged like tides, their ferocity rivaling the sea’s. The originally small mudflats were almost entirely blasted apart, blood and flesh staining over ten miles of river surface, resembling blooming red flowers at the heart of the waters.

The Crystal Iron Colossi were fierce but couldn’t withstand their glaring weaknesses. Against the fearless tide of feral spirit beasts, these colossi, with all three cores outputting Spiritual Power for only a quarter-hour, found it nearly impossible to seize ultimate victory.

This was the very reason Jin San Zhua had been so pessimistic before the battle. After all, once the incense-stick time passed, the Crystal Iron Colossi became mere cages, and for Mortal Realm warriors with dwindling Spiritual Power to face such beast tides...

No matter which family’s battle department you looked to, it was hard to find warriors willing to partake in such a war.

Only Red Cloud Mountain’s Marshal Star Pavilion, even fully aware of the challenge and danger, still eagerly joined the fray.

Even someone as notoriously cowardly as Jin San Zhua showed no intention of running away.

Now, with their Spiritual Power exhausted, there was no choice but to leap out of the colossi and engage in close-quarters combat. Fang Yuan once again spoke to the long-haired warrior, "Your performance just now wasn’t bad. If you truly can’t endure once outside, I permit you to retreat and preserve your life."

Getting up and leaving the crystal seat, Jin San Zhua snorted disdainfully, "Retreat? Escape? What the hell do you think I’m here for? Ever since joining the Marshal Star Pavilion, daily Spiritual Food and medicinal baths... they say I’m a mere retainer soldier, but life’s been more comfortable than for those young masters and ladies of noble families!

I’ve married a wife, had kids, but my heart, ah, has grown increasingly uneasy. You know, our Marshal Star Pavilion has been stirring things up for over ten years now—doing absolutely nothing substantial. Which family would possibly keep so many idle freeloaders around out of mere charity?

Now it’s good—we finally have a mission. Even though it’s dangerous, compared to the enjoyment over all these years, what does danger even matter?"

His words finished, the long-haired warrior donned his battle-standard spiritual armor, drew his blade, and was the first to charge out from the colossus. Watching him from behind, the brothers Fang Yuan and Fang Xiong exchanged a smile.

As if signaling something, the Crystal Iron Colossi—resembling meat grinders—suddenly ceased all movement, toppling over as spirit beasts roared and shoved them down.

In the distance, clad in dragon-scaled golden armor, Shi Muzhi saw the colossi fall silent and laughed maniacally, "The Little General was right! Attack now—immediately throw the wild beasts into the battle! Bring down every last one of these scum before support from Unparalleled City’s arena arrives. Leave none alive!"

Standing aboard massive ships, the Tamers, upon hearing Shi Muzhi’s words, gritted their teeth and activated their Tamers’ Marks. The spirit beasts, driven to agony, became even more vicious in their assault.

Swarms of beasts trampled over mounds of flesh and bones, roaring as they stormed toward the battle formations of Marshal Star Pavilion’s warriors.

Though armored and armed warriors stood with resolute gazes, imposing in their aura, before colossal beasts towering over ten feet tall at minimum, their frailty and helplessness were painfully evident.

Yet still, they stubbornly held their ground. Even though their Spiritual Power was drained and their Spirit Arts unusable, they refused to retreat a single step.

Observing the battlefield from afar, Tamers grinned wickedly, knowing full well the battle had now entered the beasts’ reign. What would follow was a flesh-and-blood feast orchestrated by the Beast Masters.

But surprises always arrive at the peak of arrogance. Those colossi that had collapsed at the shore suddenly exploded violently, spewing iron arrows and crystal spikes that turned the first wave of spirit beasts scrambling ashore into brutalized carnage. Their corpses slowed the momentum of the beast tide’s assault.

In any battle group with independent will, such horrifying scenes would’ve been enough to cause mutiny or freeze their formation. But with Beast Masters, the only outcome was a slight delay to their offensive.

The rear ranks of war beasts seemed entirely fearless, undeterred by the frontlines’ misery. They trampled over the fallen corpses as they continued their deadly charge.

The Crystal Iron Colossi, however, showed no second surge of violence. Instead, Du Sha, who hadn’t been seen since before the battle, suddenly emerged at the center of the formation.

"Form up! Regulate your breathing!"

With a succinct command, the pale-faced First Star General crouched down, thrusting both hands into the ground. With a thunderous rumble, a Red Crystal mountain erupted, lifting everyone up together.

The protruding crystal spikes along the mountain’s edges were jagged like antlers, skewering unbridled spirit beasts that barreled forward into the trap.

The warriors of Marshal Star Pavilion burst into cheers, but no one noticed Du Sha’s eerily pale complexion as his hands remained embedded in the crystal rock.

Only Shi Muzhi, watching distantly, responded with thrill rather than dread. He barked at the hesitant Tamers casting questioning glances his way, "What are you dawdling for? Keep attacking! Don’t give that man a moment to rest!"

Two rounds of battle had already instilled fear of Du Sha into Shi Muzhi’s mind. In their first confrontation, wielding two Divine Artifacts, Shi Muzhi had managed merely to hold his own against Du Sha, albeit with slight disadvantage.

By the second solo skirmish at the shore, Du Sha had already been able to suppress Shi Muzhi for the majority of the fight. He had no desire for a third clash with that lunatic.

If the spirit beasts and wild beasts could wear Du Sha down, allowing Shi Muzhi himself to behead him later, that would be the ideal rhythm.

As for losses?

The beasts currently deployed belonged only to the other four families. Losses? So be it.

War, after all, inevitably involves death. Oh, not people—beasts.

Shi Muzhi smirked, feeling assured of his victory!

...

Spirit Sheep Island

The Xuanji Jade was fractured, the Tamers encircled amid deadly siege, and outside, Marshal Star Meng Jiao’s hawk-like gaze loomed over them menacingly.

Ghostcloth Jackal and Murong Jun had long lost their fighting spirit, resigning themselves to dying here.

Yet as the beast tide surged forward, a thunderous beast roar shook the heavens and earth. The Gold-scaled Lion-Tiger Beast, nicknamed "Jin Zi," shockingly turned on its masters—it first bit through the massive toad, then swept the dragon scorpion flying with a single paw strike, breaking into the fray and shielding Murong Jun and Ghostcloth Jackal from most of the incoming attacks.

"Jin Zi..."

The fact that the Gold-scaled Lion-Tiger Beast, freed from its Soul Mark, would turn back to lend aid moved Murong Jun deeply. He promptly took out a spirit pill from his sleeve and fed it into the divine beast’s mouth. "Eat quickly— the toad’s skin and flesh are both lethally poisonous. If it enters your organs, there’ll be no saving you!"

"Roar!"

Swallowing the spirit pill, Jin Zi regained vitality, letting out another deafening roar that scattered multiple wild beasts preparing mystical attacks.

The beasts whose skills were disrupted turned their hateful gazes toward the Lion-Tiger Beast. Even creatures of limited intelligence detested betrayal, and Jin Zi clearly stood as a traitor.

Among the enraged wild beasts, complex emotions stirred as they roared at Jin Zi, communicating in a language only monsters understood. Jin Zi merely hung its head in sorrowful silence, enduring their disdain.

Murong Jun dared not allow these beasts to sway his divine companion, quickly whispering to Jin Zi, "Soon, find a chance to use your ’Tiger Roar’ mystic art to carve a path for us. Let’s break out toward the southeast. Once we’ve returned to Thousand Birds Peak, I swear—I’ll never use a Soul Mark to bind you again!"

As the most formidable divine beast present, Jin Zi’s golden dragon scales were impervious to blades or arrows, and its mystical art "Tiger Roar" could scatter Spiritual Power concentrations while instilling fear.

With a divine beast of this caliber, the situation was no longer a guaranteed deathtrap. Murong Jun’s will to survive rekindled with newfound fire.
