Chapter 758 - 758 Answer me crawler (4000)_2

Chapter 758: Answer me, crawler! (4000)_2 Chapter 758: Answer me, crawler! (4000)_2 Some discoveries were made, but the spiral pattern was missing.

Perhaps, that was a one-way calamity tunnel. Some dark creature must have run out from the World of Calamities, subsequently embarking on a hunting massacre.

Based on the movement trajectory of the dark creature codenamed Ghoul, Casio circled several areas on the map of Florence’s fourth district. He believed these were the places where the dark creature would most likely reappear, and there were three in total.

The investigation in the morning ended, and Casio, standing at the end of the lane of Pleasure Street, decided to go to the sanatorium to ask the severely injured dark gold-level hunter.

Perhaps he can gain some information about the Ghoul from him.

Moving his steps forward, Casio had just walked about the distance of one street when he saw a building in front of him was cordoned off, and guards in a blue-black uniform were standing around. They were directing the building’s guests out.

The expressions on the faces of the guests were all fearful, and their complexions were pasty white.

Clearly, something horrifying had occurred inside.

Casio walked over, displayed his hunter’s badge to the guard, and asked what had happened. The young guard brought his superior officer over.

The officer was a middle-aged man with a slightly rotund figure and a goatee.

“Honorable Mr. Hunter, a homicide case occurred on the second floor. Two adult males have died. Both are in a horrific state, half of their bodies have been eaten away. We have already reported to the Hunters’ Association…”

“Which room on the second floor? I will have a look.”

Casio said, his face devoid of any expression.

“The last one in the hallway on the second floor,” answered the captain of the guard truthfully.

Casio nodded and set off towards the inn without further delay.

He had a faint feeling that he might be lucky today; maybe the mission target had come to him. This inn happened to be in one of the three areas Casio had previously marked on the map – the most likely hiding spot for the Ghoul to strike again. Coupled with the description the guard had given earlier-

There were traces of gnawing on the victims. It genuinely seemed like the work of the Ghoul.

The chances of this being the target Casio was after was more than fifty percent.

With his strength now fully recovered, Casio wasn’t afraid, no matter how dangerous the mission target was. Not just an A-rank mission, even if it was S-rank, Casio wouldn’t bat an eye. The only hassle was how to locate the creature.

Moving steadily forward, he passed through the lobby of the inn and climbed up the stairs.

The faint smell of blood hung in the air on the second floor. Guarding the corner of the staircase were several soldiers standing upright. They only gave Casio’s hunter’s badge a glance before retracting their glances without making any movements.

As Casio walked through, he felt the smell of blood getting stronger.

He stopped in front of an open room.

He saw a puddle of sticky blood slowly spreading out on the floor.

Entering the room, he was met with a horrific sight.

There were two bodies in total; one lying on the bed, the other rigidly sitting on a chair. The lower half of the body lying on the bed was gone, with rough traces of violent tearing at the cross-section, and the bedsheet was dyed red with fresh blood. The head of the person sitting on the chair has been clawed off, with half of the upper body gnawed clean.

White bones stained with tooth marks and teeming pile of internal organs struck a visceral image. Ordinary people would probably vomit on the spot. Casio remained expressionless as ever.

He examined the wound, all clean and lethal from a single strike.

Narrowing his gaze, Casio went to the window and slowly drew the curtain.

Light in the room dimmed significantly as the door closed. The room had now become an enclosed space, filled with the strong smell of blood.

He looked at a puddle of blood accumulated in the corner of the room, slowly raised his head, and looked at the ceiling. It appeared no different from any other room, but as he fixed his gaze, a drop of blood unexpectedly fell from it.

With a soft ‘plop’, it landed on the floor.

Although the sound was light, it was still audible.

There was a rustling sound, as if something invisible moved where it came from the ceiling. Eventually, it fell down and revealed its complete form.

It was a dark creature that looked half-human and half-lizard, its skin was a mossy dark green color, with rings of cornified protrusion around the joints.

Its whole body was like a stretchy version of a human, standing a full two meters tall.

Its two arms were not thick, but rather slender. However, the palms at the ends were three inwardly curved claws, their sharp tips hooked into the flesh and skin.

The head of the dark creature was indeed a magnified lizard’s brain, the eyes spaced quite wide, and they were very large, giving off a sense of indescribable horror.

“Heh heh heh….”

The lizardman made a strange cry, revealing a humanized expression on his face.

“Such a pity to have been found. Just a Black Bronze Level appetizer, a mere morsel, is far from enough!”

Its lizard-like mouth split open, revealing serrated teeth with strings of flesh stuck between them. Its bright red tongue probed the air, its surface full of tumorous bumps. Ugly, and emitting a foul smell.

Casio watched it quietly, concluding from its previous words.

This dark creature had intentionally committed homicide, then ambushed the Dark Hunt Organization personnel at the crime scene with exceptional proficiency.

“Heh heh heh…why aren’t you afraid? Little snack…” The lizardman’s eyes were full of blood vessels and exuded a sense of madness. As if there was something wrong with his nerves, he talked to himself: “You hunters are the most delicious food! Much more delicious than ordinary humans! Let me count…”

“I’ve eaten two White Luminance Level hunters, and more than a dozen Black Bronze Level hunters. It’s such a pity that I’ve never had a Dark Gold Level one, I think that would be even more delicious! Heh heh heh…heh heh heh…” The lizardman began to laugh.

Then, step by step it walked heavily towards Casio. It didn’t attack right away, but instead picked up a corpse nearby and started gnawing slowly.

Blood gushed from its large mouth, as if it had swallowed a whole orange.

The lizardman looked questioningly at Casio, who hadn’t moved a step. A disappointed expression appeared on his face: “Why are you not the least bit scared? Show some despair! Hunters at the Black Bronze Level are no different from ordinary humans in front of me, they are all food. My favourite is the smell of despair just before death, such food is the most delicious, the sweetest…”

“So you’re the ghoul that’s been lurking in the Fourth Quadrant of Florence for the past half a month?” As Casio stared at the lizardman, his aura remained unchanged.

“Ghoul?” The lizardman was taken aback. Today was its second crime in half a month, the previous one was in a residential area. But if it could instill fear in the hunter before him, the lizardman didn’t mind admitting it.

“Of course it’s me, heh heh heh… So, are you scared now?”

It persistently asked this question, and was exceptionally mad.

“Since you are that ghoul, then tell me what the deal is with the spiral pattern on the wall of Vic’s Meat Slaughterhouse. If your answer satisfies me, you might be able to live a little longer.” With a slight pull of his right hand, Casio closed the curtain completely.

“Heh heh heh, interesting hunter…”

“I’ve decided to savor your brain!”

With a rip sound,

The corpse in the lizardman’s hand was torn in half by brute force, sending a spray of blood and internal organs flying. The whole room shook and a charging figure materialized.

Six terrifying and deformed hook claws ripped powerfully through the air!

With uncanny speed, it charged towards Casio’s position.

With a bang, the entire wall of the second floor of the inn vibrated violently.

Stone powder exploded, sunlight poured in through a man-sized hole.

The silhouette of the lizardman loomed in the mist, but Casio was nowhere to be seen before him. It wore a dumbfounded expression as it lowered its head to its left shoulder. An entire arm and part of the torso were torn off haphazardly by a massive force.

A large pool of green blood accumulated on the ground.

“You!!!”

The lizardman turned his head violently to look at the other corner of the room.

There was a tall figure standing on the edge of the sunlight, holding a bloody limb. The man was expressionless, like a statue.

He slowly extended his right hand, the limb of the lizardman gripped upside down in it began to decompose. Small fragments of dark red fell like snowflakes.

“Answer my question, I don’t want to say it a third time, reptile…”
