Chapter 739 - 739 388 Incarnate Demon Idol (4100)_2

Chapter 739: 388 Incarnate Demon Idol (4100)_2 Chapter 739: 388 Incarnate Demon Idol (4100)_2 The Demon Idol suddenly opened its mouth to speak, its voice reverberating like a grand bell.

Upon hearing this, the Ghost Man gradually let his guard down. He was once fortunate enough to have a brief encounter with a Fighter from the Secret Martial Arts World, and had witnessed his moves firsthand.

Weaving his Qi into a frenzy, it naturally formed the phantom vision of his Boxing Method when he unleashed his punch. The same was true for Casio; though his phantom vision was eerily malevolent and filled with an unsettling Demonic Qi.

It was as if it were an immensely powerful dark creature!

Thud, thud, thud…

The four-meter tall Demon Idol took one step after another, causing the ground to tremble slightly.

The face of the Demon Idol bore an expression of human-like contemplation.

Casio discovered that the Demon Idol’s secret martial art was exceptionally well-suited for the World of Calamities. He used all his energy to drive the technique and condensed his Qi to form a phantom vision of the Demon Idol. Surprisingly, he was able to maintain this phantom vision with very minimal consumption of his powers.

Only around one percent or even one-thousandth of what would be expended in the real world.

Furthermore, in the state of the Demon Idol, Casio’s resistance to the highly concentrated calamitous aura had increased by several stages. Incredible as it was, it was twenty times what it was initially! This meant he could comfortably survive in a low-intensity disaster zone like Ash City for two hundred hours. He could last about four days or one hundred hours in the Pale Land. Given the speed at which Casio was able to move, four days was more than enough for him to reach another special area.

“It seems that the magic idol’s secret martial art has also inherited some of the characteristics of the dark creature it’s imitating while mimicking it. For instance, the robust resistance to calamities and the intimidating effect it has on lower-level dark creatures.” Casio thought, “But after all, it’s merely a secret martial art, not a real dark creature. It still can’t survive directly in the World of Calamities like real dark creatures can…”

After he had made simple adjustments and became familiar with it, he turned to face the Ghost Iron Knight, directing, “Let’s go. I’ll lead the way.”

Thud.

The Demon Idol stepped forward, leaving a deep footprint. After a few strides, he had covered dozens of meters and was making his way into the ashen rain.

Behind him, the Ghost Man and the Iron Knight exchanged glances, a bitter smile appearing on their faces. Casio’s demon-like demeanor was admittedly a bit intimidating.

However, having seen and experienced much, they didn’t let it affect them. After making a few adjustments, both the Ghost Man and the Iron Knight quickly followed suit and ventured into the Pale Land.

The ash whirled in the sky before turning into white flakes as they touched the ground. The World of Calamities was not the Real World and yet, survival of the fittest still applied. Dark creatures that had lost their sanity and regular beasts had few differences.

Vast withered trees spread across the lands. The trunks weren’t made of one solid log, but consisted of liana-like branches twisted together, a crisscrossed mesh of hand-width vines. The surface was covered with black spines, densely packed.

Atop the canopies, which strangely were not made up of leafy branches but madly waving roots resembling tendrils. At the tip of these roots, what looked like human baby arms were flailing against the wind, emitting a faint shimmer.

A group of bat-like dark creatures hovered in the sky. They had the bodies of human infants, deformed skulls, and wings formed by overlapping layers of flesh. Droplets of black water dripped from the tips of their wings.

The black droplets hit the ground and instantaneously burst into flame.

These creatures flew in groups above the woods, headed towards the burning river. A few flew too low, triggering an uproar in the barren wooded area. Black tentacles shot out like serpents, thrashing wildly in the air, resembling seaweed swaying with the tide. The disturbance from one single tree led to an uproar across the entire forest.

At first glance, it looked like a churning black ocean. Amidst the turmoil, countless struggling claws thrashed in their desperate attempts to stay afloat.

A dozen or so bat-like dark creatures were grabbed and dragged under. Within a few seconds, they were annihilated.

The remaining fortunate ones flew higher, quickly disappearing into the rain of ash. In the distance, the bats descended towards what appeared to be a river. Only, it was a river not of water but of flame.

It was white fire, in a liquid state, silently setting the air ablaze.

The black fire atop the wings of these bat-like creatures needed this kind of white fire in liquid form for replenishment. Many of the dark creatures in the Pale Land required this liquid fire. Some bathed in it, others drank it. Yet others laid in wait for prey near the source of the fire.

For example, right now, fifty or so bats were soaking in the Flame River.

By the side of the river, fire thorn grasses densely populated the area. Lurking within them was a lizard two meters long, ready to pounce. It also had a peculiar form, with a head on either end of its body. The bumps on its back formed contours resembling a human face screaming.

Out of the holes in the bumps, wisps of green smoke slowly fused into the air.

Whoosh!

The lizard hurtled out like a maniac, leaping into the Flame River. The tumor on its back fired green poison darts, piercing straight through two bats. Both of the lizard’s heads opened wide, snapping at the bat babies.

Its sawtooth scythe-like jaws tore apart, eager for a hearty meal.

However, it assumed the bats were prey, while in reality, the bats were merely bait.

A towering silhouette suddenly erupted from the fiery liquid beneath, its gigantic maw ripping the lizard into two. Its colossal body rose to stand, its carapace dotted with eyes gleaming eerily. Hand claws akin to pincers gripped the two halves of the lizard’s body, preparing to feed them into its gaping mouth.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Sounds resembling a tank relentlessly crushing everything in its path rapidly drew near from afar.

The dark creature, resembling an armored millipede, halted and turned its head in confusion.

Thump!!!

It seemed as though it had been struck head-on by a train, the upper half of its body flung out, leaving only the lower half sinking into the Flame River. The detached upper half tumbled on the ground, still clinging to life. A gigantic foot, similar to a camel’s toe, stomped down heavily, squashing it into meat paste and grinding it into a well.

In the midst of the ash rain, a towering iron tower-like figure stood tall.

As soon as it appeared, a domineering and dangerous aura rapidly spread along the riverbank. The dark creatures lurking in the grass or the river were startled, letting out whimpering roars a few times before hastily fleeing in all directions.

The demon idol in the form of Casio slightly lowered his head and casually absorbed the life vibration energy of the centipede. He was clearing the way for the Ghost Man and the Iron Knight — his presence left lingering traces of his aura where he passed, preventing wild beasts from approaching. Moreover, he was also testing the deterrence power of the demon idol.

After encountering numerous situations, Casio had almost figured it out. The aura of the demon idol was more intimidating than even the strongest hazard spirit, but he was definitely not on par with the ultimate dark creature. It could only intimidate wild beasts.

He felt that this ability was actually quite useful. He didn’t have to waste time and Qi on some trivial creatures, avoiding excessive wastage before the real hunt began. Casio released his palm as the absorption of life vibration energy ended.

The demon idol began to stride towards the heart of the Tentacle Forest.

Everything was as usual, with the trees being their usual static selves. As Casio made his way through the forest and departed, the Tentacle Forest didn’t react at all.

That is until a few minutes later when the Ghost Man and Iron Knight entered. The tentacles immediately began a wild dance, lashing out like flames, seemingly transforming into a frenzied hell of dancing demons.

Taken by surprise, the two were somewhat taken aback. The Ghost Man’s clothing and mask were somewhat damaged, and the Iron Knight’s armor was marked with traces of the black flame whip’s thrashing. After barging through the Tentacle Forest and catching up with Casio they looked completely disheveled.

“You two…”

Casio looked at the disheveled Ghost Man, at a loss for words. It seemed like it would be best if he didn’t take the lead in exploring the path, but rather guide like a nanny.

“Stick close to me. I sense the Undead Cemetery is nearby…”

The demon idol began to step forward, advancing at a measured pace.

The Ghost Man and Iron Knight shared an awkward laugh and quickly followed along.

Time ticked away, and it had been five or six hours since they left Ash City. They had now ventured deep into the Pale Land.

This was the southeastern corner of the Pale Land, at the top of a hill.

Three silhouettes stood atop it, looking into the distance.

There, black lights and Blood Qi spiraled upwards, like two pythons.

A dangerous and decayed aura could be felt even from a considerable distance.

“We’ve arrived… the Undead Cemetery,” Casio declared.
