Chapter 737: 387 The efficiency of Candle Soul is too high, isn’t it? (4000)_2 Chapter 737: 387 The efficiency of Candle Soul is too high, isn’t it? (4000)_2 For a moment, he felt a surge of energy with nowhere to let it out.
If this wasn’t a self-orchestrated act by the royal family, the only other entities capable of an assassination would be the council or the Dark Hunt Organization. Since Solomon was nominated by the council, the only possibility left was Claire!
Solomon and Candle Soul exchanged glances, their minds on high alert.
At one o’clock in the afternoon, in District Seven, the headquarters of the Dark Hunt Organization.
“The council must have done this! One hundred percent certain!” A white-haired old man at the long table stood up and declared firmly.
“Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that the royal family orchestrated this themselves. But this probability is smaller, as Soss and the others would have been exposed once they engaged each other.”
Next to him, a man dressed in a suit speculated aloud.
“Regardless, this is good news. Even though we don’t want to admit it, Soss was indeed the most promising candidate to become a Shadow Hunter. Now that he’s injured his left arm and shown a weakness, his strength must have declined. This increases our chances…”
Another one of the old men cast his eyes towards the end of the long table as he spoke.
Claire was sitting there, a far-off look on her face. Every time such a serious conference took place, she couldn’t help but let her mind wander.
If she had the choice, Claire would rather be carrying out her uncle’s task of protecting Bai Kui. She was starting to see the benefits of this task: it gave her a legitimate excuse to be lazy and slack off in the room next door, all by herself.
Claire had already prepared her snacks and biographical novels.
She was ready for an unforgettable short vacation at the sanatorium.
The sun gradually dropped from its high noon position, the light grew dimmer as it was swallowed by the clouds and darkness, eventually turning into night.
Casio opened his eyes, finding himself in the World of Calamities.
He was standing on the resurrection altar, his feet feeling solid on the ground.
The pale flames swirled up to the ceiling from the top of the space.
The consequent illumination revealed the entire first floor of the Shelter Tower.
Casio opened his right hand, revealing a pyramidal, triangular badge—a Hunter’s Badge which Ghost Man had exchanged for him.
After placing the badge in his pocket, Casio headed up to the third floor.
He activated the Defence Array immediately, letting a light membrane cover the walls of the tower.
The disasters in the air were driven away and filtered out at once.
Half a minute later, Casio left the Shelter Tower, traversing a route through Ash City, and arrived at the city wall where Ghost Man had last left the World of Calamities.
After waiting for a moment,
A vortex-like black pattern on the city wall formed an illusory passage.
Two figures slowly walked in.
One was holding a huge scythe, draped in a heavy black cloak, exuding a gloomy aura.
The other bore a mighty knight’s sword, clad in heavy armor, towering like a mountain.
“Ghost Man, Iron Knight… let’s go. I’ll take you to the tower…”
Casio cut straight to the chase, speaking directly and efficiently.
He leaped into the air, with Ghost Man following closely. Only the Iron Knight unexpectedly began running through the alleyway, seemingly intent on taking the land route.
“Flying so high and running atop buildings, aren’t you afraid of attracting a lot of dark creatures’ attention? I am familiar with Ash City. The Ash City Lord is a very dangerous hazard of Spiritual Level dark creature. There are ten replicas of it. Once caught by one of those, it’s extremely hard to get away.”
All three of them stopped. The Iron Knight looked up, his voice resonating from beneath his metal mask as he turned to observe the two figures atop the neighboring roof.
On hearing this, Casio turned back and looked at Ghost Man.
Ghost Man shook his head, “I apologize for my oversight. I should’ve made things clear to the Iron Knight earlier, considering his previous non-committal attitude…”
“You two should be cautious. After all, this is the dangerous World of Calamities. A small mistake could lead to irreversible consequences…”
The Iron Knight continued with friendly advice, clearly cautious.
A minute later, three silhouettes dashed over the top of the buildings in Ash City. Although their movements weren’t major, they were definitely impossible to ignore. In the past, dark creatures would have already been swarming them.
However, the dark creatures on the streets below were just about to try their luck before they felt a familiar aura from the leader and immediately bowed their heads and hid.
A few of them even hid in dark corners, shivering in fear.
This was because Casio had discovered the clever use of the aura of Demon Idol. If he drove the Secret Martial Art of Demon Idol in a particular way, he could mimic the terrifying aura of the Ultimate Darkness. This aura was a terrifying deterrent for the dark creatures, and it read like the dangerous scent of a top predator.
Except for the Hazard Spirits and Wild Beasts, all would probably turn tail upon encountering Casio.
This was a fear ingrained deep within their genes.
Moreover, Casio discovered a miraculous phenomenon. If he wrapped his body with the aura of the Demon Idol, the rate of calamity erosion would dramatically decrease.
He could only achieve one-third or even one-fourth of the original effect.
In other words, Casio could spend much more time in the World of Calamities – approximately forty-five to sixty hours, two to two and a half days. This meant he could explore much deeper areas.
Such as the Pale Land and the Shelter Towers in other regions.
About ten minutes later, the group safely arrived at the location of the Shelter Tower.
The expression on the Iron Knight’s face, hidden behind his mask, was complex. His current collaborators, Casio and Ghost Man, were exceptionally strong. As they journeyed, he clearly witnessed the transformation in the dark creatures who, upon sensing Casio’s aura, became docile, their eyes clearing with terror.
Moreover, as the Ghost Man had said earlier, there were now no longer ten Ash City Lords—only four remained, hiding like fugitives. The crystalline core that allowed the Ash City Lord to regenerate was stolen by the Ghost Man. The six that had disappeared had all been slain by a single person—Casio.
Since Ash City was a remote area in the Pale Land, besides the Ash City Lord, there were no real dangers. Having dealt with the Ash City Lord, Casio was unstoppable in Ash City.
The Iron Knight initially assumed that when the Ghost Man said Casio had saved his life, he meant that Casio had rescued the Ghost Man from a powerful enemy. He didn’t imagine it was because Casio had charged in and chopped off the tiger’s head, naturally saving the Ghost Man in the process.
The two scenarios were completely different in terms of significance.
The stone door opened, and everyone entered the Shelter Tower.
Both the Ghost Man and the Iron Knight immediately felt the calamities within their bodies gradually being expelled. The protection Casio had mentioned was real.
And so, they both accepted the infusion of Casio’s Demon Seed. The location was the pinky finger of their left hand. Even if there were any accidents, the cost of amputation wouldn’t be too high.
After a brief rest, under the pale light on the first floor of the tower,
The trio clarified the main objective of this exploration into the World of Calamities.
“The Undead Cemetery
As for the reason, of course, it is because the Undead Cemetery is located in the southeastern corner of the Pale Land, which is relatively close to Ash City. In addition, the rising black air and bloody light from afar are easy to spot. This conspicuous feature makes it simple to locate.
The only thing to be wary of is that the Undead Cemetery is frequented by the Blood Butcher, a creature of the dark. It is a battle-strong Hazard Spirit.
The Real World is not the same as the World of Calamities. The undead nature of the creatures here is greatly enhanced, with the Hazard Spirits near indestructible. Any Hazard Spirit is a considerable challenge for a Soul Holder of the same level.
This is why, when Casio killed seven Hazard Spirits, the Iron Knight was greatly shocked. Such feats require overwhelming strength and special methods.
The two types of force in the Southern Dipper Fist technique are undoubtedly the nemesis of the undead nature.
The reason why Casio planned to explore the Undead Cemetery was that this area was possibly connected to the ancient sage who had created the Southern Dipper Fist. Perhaps, he may be able to find some secrets left behind by him.
If he could find other traces of the Southern Dipper Fist in that place, that would be even better. Casio had a hunch that he would most likely make some gains.
Descending from the second floor of the Shelter Tower, Casio held a parchment in his hand. It was a simple map of the Pale Land. By using his Proof of the Soul Holders and the sensation from the Shelter Tower, he could ascertain his location and direction.
With everything ready and set, it was time to go…
