The echo of leather shoes stepping on the ground resonates through the corridor.

Upon close listening, one could discern that two people are walking in the corridor. On the left is a white-haired old man in a black suit, carrying himself with the elegance of a steward. To the right is a boy of about fifteen or sixteen years old, with black hair hanging slightly over his delicate features. He wears high boots that reach up to his calves and a black waistcoat – understated but elegant.

Their white cuffs bear a vintage silver pattern of rotating pupils – seemingly the family badge of an ancient family.

As they continue down the corridor, the boy appears somewhat excited, his fair and delicate face flushed slightly.

“Steward, those three caused such a ruckus… This should be the gang violence mentioned in the magazines, right? Gangs wiping each other out?”

He uses some not-so-common words he had picked up to express his opinions, “Was there a gunfight?”

The steward silently nodded, and then said, “Young Master You An, you’re correct. Given the sight of so many people panicking and fleeing earlier, it appears that a large-scale standoff with firearms might have occurred inside. Moreover, it’s probable that there were more than just three people involved. Perhaps there were other gunners from the same gang getting involved… Can you guess where we are?”

You An pondered for a moment, “An underground boxing ring? Or a casino?”

He paused, recalling the attire of the numerous people who had fled from the corridor: “Not a casino, an underground boxing ring…”

The steward nodded and made some further suggestions, prompting You An to continue, “The bosses of these underground boxing rings have undoubtedly powerful forces behind them. They most likely have their own channels for smuggling firearms. Possession of heavy machine guns is unlikely, and light machine guns are also less probable. Handguns predominate, perhaps some submachine guns. Like us, there were quite a few people in black who were heading against the crowd towards the underground boxing ring, at least ten or more by sight, but the actual number could be twice or thrice that. 20 to 30 possible gang members armed with handguns and submachine guns… to protect against potential sudden attacks, I must maintain my bone armor at a metal level…”

The steward nodded again, “Exactly.”

In no time, the two of them had reached the last door to the underground boxing ring. Through the door gap, You An could smell the strong scent of blood, which was impossible to mask. He exchanged a glance with the steward, immediately pointing his finger at the middle of his forehead.

Underneath his clothing, on his skin surface, a layer of faint bone armor secreted from his pores like a liquid gradually solidified around him.

In just a moment, You An was encased in a white suit of armor.

The steward, on the other hand, stood in front of him, his face marked with patterns resembling black bone spikes. The two were there to witness a gang firefight from close quarters – pushing open the door would inevitably lead to attacks. To be on the safe side, the steward would stand in front to take the brunt of the bullets, then encourage the young master to counterattack.

This trip with Young Master You An was not just to expose him to society’s dark underbelly, gang violence, and murder, nor to hone his logical thinking. Primarily, it was a rite of passage, setting the stage for Young Master You An’s debut killing. Unlike ordinary people, cultivating lethal skills would inevitably lead to bloodshed. It was time for Young Master You An to understand the difference between them and ordinary people, only bloodshed can make a flower bloom brightly…

“Bang!”

The tightly closed door was kicked open, and the steward charged in first, black bone spikes piercing through his clothes menacingly.

However, the anticipated hail of bullets did not occur.

The entire underground boxing ring was eerily silent.

The steward scanned the scene before him and came to a standstill.

Behind him, You An rushed in after him. He took a quick step, his eyes widened, his right hand braced against the wall. “Ugh!”

“Ugh…”

His stomach churned, and he vomited out his dinner. His nostrils took in the smell, intensifying the waves of nausea and vomiting.

“This…this doesn’t look like a gunfight…”

The steward also frowned with revulsion – although he had killed his fair share, he had never seen such a bloody scene.

The place was riddled with bullet holes and pits, the neatly arranged wooden chairs were in a state of disarray, corridors that appeared to have been broken down by brute force were everywhere. As far as the eye could see; the main aisle, the audience seats, the space around the arena; all were littered with one corpse after another – approximately fifty in total, all mutilated beyond recognition. Disembodied hands and feet lay scattered about, limp and sticking to the ground.

The ground, the walls, the aisles were all covered in blood, thick and sticky. The feel under leather shoes was utterly nauseating.

This place was like a horrific scene reflected from hell.

Anyone without a strong will would faint at the sight; Young Master You An vomiting uncontrollably was, under the circumstances, quite normal.

After a minute, You An gradually stopped vomiting – not because he had overcome his nausea, but because he had nothing left to throw up.

Gasping for breath, he turned, but the sight of a headless corpse not far from him made him retch again.

“St…steward, wasn’t this supposed to be gang violence?”

You An was so nauseated that tears welled up in his eyes.

“Things have taken an unexpected turn, Young Master…”

Frowning, he led You An closer to the center of the main aisle. It wasn’t long before they saw more than a dozen stark human skeletons and clumps of red meat stuck together. You An immediately looked away, closing his eyes and merely allowing the steward to lead him.
