I can return to the age of mysterious
Chapter 283 - 283 181 Triple Gates (4000)_2

Chapter 283: 181 Triple Gates (4000)_2 Chapter 283: 181 Triple Gates (4000)_2 “The soul cannot be seen or touched, yet it is the key element that governs a person’s actions and is the most mysterious. To be honest, I have once experienced a situation where my soul left my body. The feeling was extremely horrifying. I felt like a blind man falling into the dark deep sea, struggling hard but unable to touch the bottom. Until I opened my eyes… I saw an unprecedented illusion…”

A confused look passed across Yun’s face, but his eyes cleared up instantly: “Sorry, I went off-topic. The three Gates I mentioned just now not only relate to humans, but also to evil spirits. Simply put, evil spirits are not complete.”

“Physical Body, Qi, Soul. They always lack something! These are a kind of incomplete creatures. Although I don’t know why evil spirits can still exist in an incomplete state, they do maintain such a deformed state. And, spirits who lack a certain Gate start to desire the existence of that Gate.”

“You mean to say…” Casio had a dawning realization.

“Yes, this is why evil spirits are aggressively attacking humans. They are different from humans, their greatest and most fundamental desire is to reopen that missing Gate. And what if they don’t have it themselves? Of course, they seek it from humans!”

Yun directly presented the underlying logic of dark creatures.

“That’s exactly it, it completely fits!”

A rare look of shock appeared on Casio’s face as he murmured to himself.

Yun was right, dark creatures are extremely distorted and deformed creatures and this is due to the lack of a certain element that constitutes a complete life! Therefore, most dark creatures lack reason, are bloodthirsty and impulsive, viewing humans as food.

Because humans have complete Three Gates! All dark creatures, regardless of the Gate they lack, can find compensation in humans, or it could simply be wishful thinking.

In addition, dark creatures have different forms and abilities, which also relate to the Three Gates of Physical Body, Qi, and Soul.

Which Gate is missing? How much is missing? Or even which several Gates are missing? And how much is missing from each Gate? These complex variations result in the plethora of strange and varied forms of dark creatures.

Blood Clan, Shadow Demon, Dead Blood, Succubus, Black Elves…

And the Ash Bone, Monster Core, Laughing Nightmare and more that Casio had occasionally encountered when performing additional tasks at Black Rain Villa.

Seeing Casio deep in thought, Yun said, “It seems you are beginning to connect the dots. Let me be clearer…”

“We can broadly categorize evil spirits into three types, one lacking a physical body, one lacking Qi, and one lacking a soul. Of course, the specifics are complex and this is just a rough division. Evil spirits lacking a physical body are the most bloodthirsty of all evil spirits, they often greedily enjoy the flesh and blood of humans; those lacking Qi like to absorb the pure energy of human life, some would inhabit a human’s body; the last and most mysterious and rare type is the one lacking a soul…”

Yun paused slightly: “These spirits are extremely troublesome and dreaded, with strange and unpredictable abilities, even minor knowledge about them can make people fearful. What evil spirits desire most is to replace the soul of their chosen target…”

“Shadow Demon.” Casio intercepted.

“Yes, from my observation. The tall, brown-haired male in the basement is not the main body of the Shadow Demon, but a human body that it has replaced. The reason it shows the characteristics of the evil spirit is due to the influence of the evil spirit’s power.”

“You were telling me earlier that there seems to be this kind of evil spirit roaming around Baichuan City. They might just be watching you. Direct combat with the possessed body is just a visible tactic. The real danger lies in the abilities of these Shadow Demons which could be silently activated, pulling you into the rules of the evil spirits.”

“This is quite horrifying… Casio, your strength is indeed great. But when facing even more mysterious evil spirits, be careful and cautious. I am advising you as a friend, hope you can keep it in mind.” Yun then turned his gaze downward.

“Of course.”

An odd expression flashed on Casio’s face momentarily.

Actually, what Yun said was not wrong, the Shadow Demon is indeed extremely dangerous, its abilities are also truly unpredictable. If an ordinary person gets parasitized, they can only wait for death. It’s like the poor guys in the shadowless organization: they established the organization in an attempt to save themselves.

But, that’s just a little delay.

Even more parasitized individuals don’t even have the time to join the shadowless organization, they just die directly at the initial manifestation of the Shadow Demon. The probability of survival is one in ten thousand.

But Casio is not among the two categories of people mentioned above, the Shadow Demon indeed has strange and unpredictable abilities but he also has an equally mysterious Retrospective Ability. Moreover, it’s quite obvious that through two actual events, Casio has proven that the Shadow Demon has no hold over him.

As long as he can progress in every Era of Retrospection.

Though it’s dangerous, it’s a process that Casio can certainly strive for, he has his fate in his own hands. If he fails to achieve his Obsession, it just means he’s incompetent.

The fight with other parasites took on a fundamentally different nature now.

Moreover, only one Shadow Demon can parasitize a human. Casio’s body was already full, with no room for other Shadow Demons to parasitize. So, the other Shadow Demons could only physically attack him, simplifying the issue back to the most basic form of battle.

As for battles, Casio did not fear anyone.

The moonlight was cold and clear, and a breeze was blowing on the balcony.

Casio’s shadow stretched out diagonally, casting onto the courtyard.

Half an hour later, at the front door of the single house.

Yun and Casio said goodbye, they had just discussed some topics of mutual interest. For example, Casio was obviously enthusiastic about the profession of Treasure Hunter and all kinds of antiques.

“No. 125, Huangshi Street, Old Daddy’s Antique Shop. That’s my uncle’s shop, where I usually rest for a month or two in the summer. If you ever need to, you can find me there.”

“Understood,” Casio nodded.

“Well, I should get going.” Yun immediately turned around and headed back the way he came.

About halfway down the dim alley, there was the sound of an iron gate closing in the distance. Yun walked on, expressionless.

After walking down an entire street, nearly half the way.

He then slid into a small alley on the right, surrounded by darkness without any streetlights. It was late, and no one was out.

With a serious expression, Yun reached into his pocket and after fumbling for a bit, he pulled out a stone from the inner pocket of his exploration suit. It was a grey stone, flat, and reminiscent of a wasp’s nest.

Its surface was full of dense dips and holes.

“The Night Bugs are restless…they’re very excited…”

Yun muttered to himself, took out a bone whistle from his pocket which seemed like Pandora’s box. The whistle, yellowish-white with numerous cracks, looked quite ancient and badly damaged. Even the overall shape of it was eerily similar to a whistle made out of human finger bones.

In the faint moonlight, Yun leaned against the wall and blew the whistle.

Immediately there was a slowly spreading sound, dull and hollow, unlike the sharp sound of a normal whistle. In fact, the sound was very low.

If someone did not specifically listen, they would not notice.

But, as soon as the whistle blew, the grey stone in Yun’s palm started to tremble. It was like an agitated wasp’s nest. This vibration lasted for about ten seconds before it stopped.

Snip snip snap…

Very faint crawling sounds could be heard on the surface of the stone.

Transparent insects, many times smaller than ants, climbed out of the holes one by one. Accompanying them was twisting smoke, and each bug was shrouded in a wisp of mysterious air.

“From white to completely transparent, the Night Bugs are extremely excited! There must be something on Casio that is attracting them…”

The light in Yun’s eyes flickered. He called Casio up to the second floor not only to relay information but also to confirm this.

“It’s dangerous, but thankfully the Night Bugs didn’t come straight out of the nest. Otherwise, apart from me, the other four…”

Yun shook his head and blew the whistle again to recall these extremely dangerous little bugs. Then, he took a step towards Old Daddy’s Antique Shop.
