Chapter 214 - 214 151 Wisdom Rune Full (4000)_2

Chapter 214: 151 Wisdom Rune Full (4000)_2 Chapter 214: 151 Wisdom Rune Full (4000)_2 As soon as Duomeng and Casio emerged from the relic, they rushed into a nearby brook, trying to wash off the pheromones on their bodies.

However, it didn’t seem to be of much help. The swarming army of white beetles was still hot on their trail.

Casio’s previous plunge into the amber pool allowed him to escape the pursuit of the white beetles, likely because of the unique conditions there that shielded him from the beetles’ sensing. Getting clean in a regular water source was useless.

“Whoosh!”

Several meters away, Duomeng swiftly swiped a bat monster on the shoulder, his tremendous strength distorting its joint position.

Next, he threw a hard punch to his left, colliding with another bat monster’s claw. He pushed it away with force. His face was slightly flushed, and there was a faint trace of blood at the corner of his mouth.

While Duomeng adjusted his breathing, he suddenly heard hissing sounds behind him. Catching sight of it from the corner of his eye, a vast sheet of white was rushing after him.

The dense pile of beetles resembled a whitewater torrent. Side by side with the brook, under the hazy starlight, it looked almost like two streams rushing down through the woods.

“Casio, the beetles have caught up!”

He immediately cautioned out loud.

“Run!”

With a flash of ruthlessness in his eyes, Casio kept his words short. He and Duomeng charged forward boldly, bursting out with part of their hidden strength. His palm, solid as steel, reached out, overpowering a Blood Clansman with an immense force and tossing him back.

“Roar!”

Mid-air, the thrown bat monster roared, trying to regain its footing. The world was spinning in its eyes, the woods, the sky, and the brook all swirled together. Suddenly, a splash of white appeared in its peripheral vision.

“Bam!”

A half-human, half-bat silhouette plummeted from the sky, crashing into the white torrent chasing from behind.

“Squee! Aaahhhhhh…”

An icy scream tore through the sky.

The sacred beetles aggressively sprayed their tail-end acidic liquid. The corrosive liquid, carrying some mysterious material, seemed to specifically target the energy of the Blood Clan. It was far more damaging than when it landed on Casio’s skin.

After just one minor contact, the skin all over this member of the direct Alfama’s bloodline was corroded clean.

The body was a bloody mess, even revealing white bones.

Struggled to get up, but a multitude of sacred beetles were all over its body, innumerable limbs crawling around.

After the energy was completely exhausted, the beetles swarmed on both sides, revealing on the ground smoking black bone fragments, just like reefs in the white rapids.

Ahead, Casio sensed an increase in the progress bar. With both hands, he sent half-human, half-bat monsters flying behind him. Members of Alfama’s direct bloodline, like trash, were thrown into the swarm, leaving traces in the sky.

Screams of agony mixed in an instant, like a terrifying symphony: “Aaahhh! Roars! Ahhh!”

Huge clouds of white steam wafted up. The looming beetle horde had protruding humps here and there, which struggled and distorted at first, but then lay still after a short moment.

Seconds later, clusters of black bone fragments were exposed to the air.

Perhaps the distractions provided by the Blood Clansmen did the trick, Casio and Duomeng were suddenly able to put some distance between them and the beetle horde. Their feet carved deep pits into the ground as they surged forward at a forty-five-degree angle, quickly nearing the altar site.

“Bang bang bang… bang bang bang…”

Two figures rapidly broke through the blockades of the Blood Clan. Afterward, they bolted further away without slowing down at all.

“Are they not coming for us?”

“Who cares! The ceremony is about to end…as long as…”

The Blood Clan elder on the altar narrowed his eyes but was suddenly interrupted by an outcry beside him. He swiftly turned his head to see a massive white torrent surging toward him.

The beetles’ gleaming shells shone faintly under the starlight.

“This is…Holy…Beetles! Damn!” The elder’s astonished cry was shrill like a woman’s scream, piercingly loud that it echoed to the skies.

Whoosh…

In an instant, the vast army of white beetles surrounded the entire altar. The beetles’ crawling sound on the ground was hair-raising, and the acid rain sprayed everywhere.

“Awooo!”

The Blood Clan near the altar began to dance in delight.

Their limbs flailed wildly, giving life to an enthusiastic tap dance.

Across the creek, both sides noticed the happenings at the altar, their comprehension momentarily stalled. Only the elders of the Alfama’s Direct Bloodline had some knowledge of the existence of holy beetles in the Relic, while the common Alfama’s Direct Bloodline members were completely oblivious.

The mercury hunters and the policemen were even more in the dark.

However, one thing was certain, the beetle army had prevented further progress of the blood ceremony, even seeming to cause significant harm to the Blood Clan. This was advantageous for their side.

The battling Blood Clan elites attempted to regroup, but Will immediately commanded his team to engage them. The fight went on.

“Don’t stop them, let them go and meet their deaths…”

Will dodged an attack from the Blood Clan with a roll and was about to shoot his arrows when suddenly, a voice beside him spoke.

“!”

Taken aback, he immediately redirected his crossbow.

Crack! The semi-automatic crossbow in Will’s hand was abruptly dismantled into components by two large hands. A massive force tore it apart, turning it into scrap metal.

He looked up to see a cold-faced, muscular man in a tattered cloak, and a blond man standing beside him. They appeared to be in a sorry state, but their aura was still formidable.

Yes, Casio had returned after breaking through the woods.

He had lured the menace away only to discover that the appeal of a large number of Alfama’s Direct Bloodline and the blood ceremony altar to the white beetles exceeded that of himself and Duomeng. The beetle army was now attacking the altar, with no time to deal with them.

Casio pondered and stealthily circled back after realizing that he was greatly concerned about the progress bar of the Wisdom Rune.

It was barely missing a smidge to be filled. Though Casio could continue to hunt dark creatures in the future to fill it up, he preferred to finish it today. After all, the Wisdom Rune could absorb the Disaster Essence from corpses across a certain distance.

“It’s you… We haven’t had the chance to introduce ourselves.” Will withdrew his hostility, tossing the remaining bits of his crossbow to the ground.

“Twilight,” answered Casio.

Guarding a glance at Casio, Duomeng also spoke, “Mundo.”

Will quickly surveyed the battlefield, “If we allow these Blood Clan members to pass, won’t the altar there be reinforced…”

Meanwhile, Casio, standing opposite, stretched out his hand, grabbed the arm of an attacking Blood Clan member, and lifted it up with surging strength. In midair, he swung it across, launching it in the air.

“Do not worry, even if the number of Blood Clan members here were to double, it wouldn’t suffice for those beetles’ appetites…” Casio spoke with a casual tone.

He had just traveled here and noticed some correlations between the Blood Clan and the white beetles. The corrosion liquid from the white beetles can react with the energy in Blood Clan’s blood, producing a vapor that seemed to attract the white beetles significantly.

This attraction even surpassed their “grudge” against Casio!

Remember, last time he accidentally stepped on a white beetle, he was chased by the beetle army for half a day.

“That… fine.” Will nodded in agreement.

And so, the mercury hunters slowed their impediment actions, shooting crossbow arrows from afar just like the policemen. Some Blood Clan members, in their Engraced Blood State, whose sanity and intelligence weren’t high, charged towards the altar, crossing the creek.

A few bloodthirsty ones were directly thrown across the creek to the other side by Casio, as if he was feeding the swarm.

In a blink, about a dozen more silhouettes wailing tragically emerged in the white beetle army. Some were so pained that they fell out of the Engraced Blood State, regaining their sanity, and starting to wail in despair.

Some desperately struggled towards the other side of the creek, trying to cross.

But they were kicked back by Casio and Duomeng standing at the side.

“No!”

The figure covered in beetles plummeted back into the swarm.

Casio glanced at the upper right corner with satisfaction.
