Chapter 178 - 178 136 Your dad is here (4000)_1

Chapter 178: 136 Your dad is here (4000)_1 Chapter 178: 136 Your dad is here (4000)_1 This smuggling journey could hardly be described as anything but perilous. Black Rain Villa had put together an entire squad of Decayed Knights specifically for Casio. Had he not customised an armored carriage for unforeseen accidents, he would’ve likely been dragged into a bloody battle by the Decayed Knights. Casio was already on the verge of serious injury from the rounds of attacks by just three re-spawning Decayed Knights. The odds would’ve certainly been against him had all eight attacked at once.

Pulling his thoughts back, Casio patted Iri’s shoulder.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

He then went over to the black horse carriage, unhooked the chain riddled with battle scars, separating the armored carriage from the horse carriage.

Next, Casio started to push the carriage, while Iri guided the way. They slowly left down the path, one leading, one following.

On the platform, two lovers were staring at each other. The young man glanced at the horse carriage parked up ahead and opened his mouth before finally blurting out: “Othana, let’s just wait for the next one…”

The blond-haired girl beside him nodded blankly in agreement.

Meanwhile.

Casio pushed the carriage all the way to inside the Black Rain Villa, where the grey, worn-out stone pavement was incredibly solid. Even when the massive armored carriage ran over it, it didn’t leave a scratch.

Only two faint white streaks of tire marks were visible.

“Five meters ahead, turn right,” Iri was quite dedicated in his guidance.

Casio flexed his thick arm with an effort, and the armored carriage slowly rotated, shifting direction while advancing slowly.

Halfway through the turn, he suddenly heard Iri’s exclaimed from the side: “Ah? Mr. Dusk, the mark on the back of your hand is glowing…”

“Hmm?”

Casio slightly furrowed his eyebrows, but his arm continued to exert effort. Underneath his strong muscles, his dark green veins began to expand and contract like tree branches. The enormous force pushed the armored carriage forward, turning it smoothly before coming to a stop.

He withdrew his arm and looked down at the wide back of his hand.

The shield mark on it was indeed illuminating; or more precisely, the long spear piercing the shield was emitting a red light.

“What shenanigans is the Black Rain Villa up to now? They’re aggressively targeting me…” Casio squinted his eyes as he could suddenly feel malicious intent emanating from everywhere around him. Each brick and tile in the villa seemed to be imposing a pressure on Casio, creating an eerie sensation.

He pondered briefly over his past encounters with the Dusk. It didn’t seem like anyone had been targeted as ruthlessly as himself. What set him apart from the other betrayers? He was at a complete loss.

Aha!

Casio suddenly slapped his forehead.

He had taken down the three Decayed Knights!

Most betrayers were portrayed as being hunted down by Decayed Knights. They were unable to confront the powerful Decayed Knights directly and could only set traps to delay the Decayed Knights while making their escape, until they were out of the Rain Realm’s coverage.

Indeed, they didn’t need to confront the Decayed Knights head-on for three long hours like Casio. It was enough for them to just avoid the chase by the Decayed Knights and make their escape. Once out of the Rain Realm’s coverage, they would be safe.

Casio was different. He deliberately didn’t complete Black Rain Villa’s periodic tasks and aimed at killing a few Decayed Knights instead. There was no way Casio could just take off running and get out of the Rain Realm’s coverage. Once he left the realm, the Decayed Knights would withdraw.

How could he then take them down to earn more time?

Here’s an analogy.

The typical betrayer is like a fugitive who committed a minor offense. When the Decayed Knights, the law enforcers, give chase, if the betrayer manages to evade, the boss grants them a chance.

In contrast, Casio was like a vicious thug committing offences on purpose to bait the law enforcers. But when the Decayed Knights showed up, he directly confronted them and took them down! This was no doubt a slap in the face to the boss behind the scenes, and a rather significant one at that.

As per the rules, the boss still owed Casio an opportunity.

However, it was only reasonable for them to set up some obstacles along the way, preferably taking Casio out before he could complete his atonement mission.

From a logical standpoint, this was probably the case.

Having reasoned out the scenario, Casio shook his head, finding nothing to be outraged about. He had been on opposing sides with the Black Rain Villa from the start. Whether they targeted him sooner or later made no difference.

In the end, he would have to contend with them anyway.

Of course, it would be better to postpone this conflict. He could wait until he had maximized his own potential and completely exploited Black Rain Villa before turning around and betraying them. That was the plan.

“Let’s not bother about this and just keep going.”

Casio waved his hand, and even though Iri was rather curious, he complied; not just because Casio was a generous person, but also because Casio had promised to recommend him for membership to the Crossbow School.

Although the Crossbow School was small, it was quite a good school.

Iri believed he was rather suited for this combat style.

On the grey street, one man led the way while the other pushed the heavy carriage. The only sounds were the drizzling rain, their footsteps, and the grinding of the carriage wheels.

Five minutes later, they arrived at the residence of the Crossbow School.

Casio knocked on the door firmly.

“Someone’s here…”

A girl’s clear and pleasant voice rang out from within.

The door was opened to reveal a cute and innocent looking girl, with short black hair hanging beside her ears and fair skin.

“Hello, um… it’s you again…”

She had initially been all smiles but froze upon seeing Casio. Her gaze rose slowly from the broad chest of the tall figure in front of her until she made eye contact with a stern face.

Rachel remembered this man. He was that macho man, covered in blood from their last encounter, a real oddball among the Crossbow School. After the last group mission, Little Leon had complained to many people about a macho man who inexplicably joined them on their mission. When they conducted their operation against the vampire family at night, it was as if a bulldog had mixed among a group of rabbits.
