Chapter 1053 - 1053 537 Years in a Rush (4000)_2

Chapter 1053: 537 Years in a Rush (4000)_2 Chapter 1053: 537 Years in a Rush (4000)_2 After several instances of retrospection, Casio had begun to vaguely comprehend.

In this Era of Retrospection, he himself was the greatest variable. There was an invisible force separating the Secret Martial Arts World and other supernatural forces, seemingly originating from the sealed Xiadu. Yet Casio was unaffected and could even serve as a bridge connecting the different parties.

According to the information from the original owner of Legendary Antiques, the Hong Li Empire would face a catastrophic disaster in a little over two years, leading to its complete destruction. He could not simply stand by and watch as the events unfolded. Casio was determined to make a big move, rallying the forces of Black Rain Villa, the Secret Martial Arts World, and the Dark Hunt Organization. To see just how devastating the so-called disaster would be?

The Era Retrospection was a process of continuous attempts, experiments, and gathering of secret intelligence. Only by understanding what exactly had happened in history could he put an end to everything in the Real World.

“To manipulate the big picture, to turn the tide, is also a way to cultivate one’s aura…” Within the Horse Carriage, Casio’s thoughts were clearer than ever before.

September 7th, in the north of the Hong Li Empire, the capital Florence.

A team slowly entered the city, heading towards District 6.

There lay the headquarters of the Clinic.

The afternoon passed. News that Casio, the Clinic director and also the number two of the Dark Hunt, had returned from his outing quickly spread throughout Florence. At the headquarters of the Dark Hunt Organization, the Shadow Hunters had heard the news.

Two P.M., the sun was bright, the clouds soft, the sky a clear, clean blue as if it had just been washed with clear water and a rag.

Although the weather was clear, it was not hot, only 20 degrees.

It was autumn, and although it was still early autumn, the drop in temperature was quite noticeable in the north. The sunlight was warm on the skin, without any harshness. The streets of Florence were spacious and orderly, with symmetrical residential houses on both sides. The brightly colored roof tiles reflected the light and dazzled the eyes.

Autumn flowers bloomed in pots on the balconies of second floors.

They brought not only a visual impact of clusters of yellow and red flowers but also a faint, long-lasting fragrance. They were quite an attraction to passersby.

In District 7 of Florence, five silhouettes slowly crossed a circular garden with a White Stone Fountain and traversed the tranquil streets. They arrived at the entrance of the Dark Hunt Organization headquarters and entered without hesitation.

At the Intersection, Guards hurried forward.

But the tall silhouette who was leading the group simply flashed a metal-gleaming Evil Spirits badge in the sunlight, engraved with the number “2”.

“The number two Shadow Hunter!”

The Guards quickly saluted and handed the badge back.

“My lord, please enter.”

Thereupon, Casio led the four figures towards the inner part of the headquarters.

Their destination was the office of the Chief Inspector of the Black Mechanism building. On the way, they had to pass through the Central Plaza and the Mission Hall. Some hunters from the Hunters Association inevitably recognized Casio.

Of course, not one dared to come up and greet him; they only watched from a distance and whispered among themselves. After all, Casio’s identity as the number two Shadow Hunter and the power of the Clinic’s director were already making him a big figure within the Dark Hunt Organization. He was not far behind the very top Senior level.

At the entrance to the Mission Hall.

Soss, the Lion King, came out and took a deep breath.

He had had a terrible, unsatisfactory month.

First, he was invited to Duke Augustus’s Banquet at the same time as Casio, only to be ridiculed by a noble second-generation whom he had previously looked down upon. At the Duke’s Banquet, Ninth Princess Angela, who had been flirting with him and was about to fall into his hands, suddenly took the initiative to throw herself at Casio. This made Soss even more uncomfortable, feeling as if a Hat had been placed on his head.

The dull green was anything but festive.

In the following month, the news spread even further. In aristocratic circles, rumors flew that the Royal Family had given up on the Lion King Soss, that Soss’s potential had greatly declined, that he had offended the head of the Clinic, and many other such stories. Whispers of all sorts took flight, unstoppable. Some even said that the Clinic’s head had expressly intended to throw Soss into the Wild Beast’s Nest to enjoy the newest interrogation techniques of the recently arrived but already infamous four interrogators. It was certain to be an unexpected and shocking surprise for Soss!

Among all these pieces of news, some were true, some were false.

At least, the Royal Family had indeed given up on investing in him and had now turned to making him take on more Dark Gold Level Hunter tasks, seemingly in an attempt to recoup some losses. In just one month, Soss had taken on ten tasks.

He didn’t want to, but he had no choice.

The Royal Family’s influence on him was too profound; he couldn’t refuse.

Today, Soss came to the Mission Hall to accept another task and planned to rest at the Headquarters for half a day before heading to the specific location to complete it.

However, as luck would have it, just as he stepped out of the Mission Hall, he ran into Casio and his four companions, who were on their way to the Headquarters building from a distance down the road.

The Lion King Soss’s steps froze instantly, and his body trembled, an inexplicable sense of fear and trepidation rising in his heart. He avoided eye contact and dared not look at Casio’s face, as if he had been stricken with post-traumatic stress disorder.

He became stressed just at the sight of Casio.

Fearing that Casio might take an interest in toying with him. A fine Lion King had nearly turned into a scared kitten. At the same time, Soss felt both resentment and fear toward Casio, afraid of their past confrontations, afraid of retaliation for his own assassin deployment, and frightened of the Clinic’s newly appointed Chief Interrogator Kedi. Although he was loath to admit it, Casio was worlds apart from him now. One in the gutter, the other in the heavens.

And so, Soss stood petrified on the spot, shivering until Casio and his party passed by on the street, ignoring him completely. Only then did he snap out of it like one awakened from a dream.

He took a deep breath and hastily left the scene.

The victor becomes king, the loser an outlaw; just a moment ago towering among clouds, the next plummeting to the depths.

Soss left the Headquarters with complex emotions. As he walked away, the recent incident replayed in his mind, leaving him puzzled.

Who were those four elders behind Casio? They seemed like they were not to be messed with!

Five minutes later, inside the Headquarters building.

The number one Shadow Hunter, known as the Giant Statue, Case, thought the same thing.

Just a minute ago, Casio went upstairs to communicate with the Chief Inspector of the Black Mechanism, leaving the four elders from the Secret Martial Arts World outside.

They, after all, didn’t carry the logo of the Dark Hunt Organization. It wasn’t appropriate to forcefully bring them into the core building such as the Headquarters; they needed to give a heads-up to the Chief Inspector of the Black Mechanism first. Yet, in just that brief span of time.

An unexpected event occurred.

News of Casio leading the return from the Clinic had spread.

The Chief Inspector of the Black Mechanism called back the various Shadow Hunters of the Dark Hunting Association to discuss matters. Shadow Hunters, whether nearby in Florence or even outside of it, were hurrying back. They entered the Headquarters, heading towards the building.

The number one Dark Hunter, the Giant Statue, Case, did just that.

He hurried back to the Headquarters and reached the entrance of the building only to unexpectedly encounter four elders, who, though they had restrained auras, still had bodies that felt exceptionally powerful and explosive. On closer examination, these four individuals bore no identification, neither from the Dark Hunt Organization nor from the Royal Family or the Council. And now, they were in the most critical place of the Dark Hunt Organization Headquarters, the Headquarters building.
