Chapter 111: Picking Herbs

Chapter 111: Picking Herbs

With the 15-man team, they entered the familiar dark willow forest.

Activating the [Autonomous], [Sensing], and [Combat] module system, Nash stepped into the runic space.

"Boss Noir, it’s time to begin your magic!" one of his teammates said.

Nodding, Nash’s eyes turned crimson-red as he scanned the area around them.

Pointing at every herb his eyes passed, the ten 3-star void warriors began working.

Meanwhile, Elisha, William, Colson, and Kye spread out, guarding them from possible danger.

With the tasks properly distributed, the team swept through the Willow Forest like a swarm of locusts in a mighty procession.

Whether it was mature herbs or budding sprouts, as long as it had void energy, Nash pointed it out.

Eager to rack up merits, they didn’t care about sustainability and harvested everything in sight.

Since there was no serious danger, the team worked meticulously, carefully picking each herb.

With a high-quality storage ring on Nash’s hand, they didn’t need to worry about carrying capacity.

---

Soon addicted to picking herbs, twelve hours flew by.

Including the time Nash spent in the Iron Fall Shelter and their earlier negotiation, he had now been in the Dark Plane for over fifteen hours.

"It’s time to go back," Nash muttered with excitement.

Initially, he could only stay in the Dark Plane for a total of 12 hours, as he still had to take care of the documents in the Eastdam State and tutor William for three hours.

However, estimating the merit points he could earn for every hour, he no longer thought the 30,000 void crystal he earned for teaching William was worth it.

Fortunately, William agreed to temporarily stop the training, planning to save his extra time to increase his saturation rate.

Meanwhile, equally excited about their gains, the team quickly followed Nash back to the Dark Willow Shelter.

---

Back at the shelter, they looked around for a place to settle.

"What about renting a temporary residence, boss?" Unable to find a private spot to count their haul, one of the members suggested.

"Then let’s pool our money and rent a place." Nash nodded in agreement.

Combining the merits they had earned from killing dark beasts, they rented a temporary residence in the Dark Willow Shelter.

---

Entering their new gathering ground, they found it quite novel.

"I didn’t expect I’d have a residence in the Dark Plane..."

"This place is pretty neat!"

"That’s right, and it’s convenient too."

Because of their limited time in the Dark Plane, void warriors usually didn’t buy or rent a residence in a shelter.

At most, they stored materials they didn’t materialize in special storage provided by the shelter.

Although it also cost merits, it was only a small amount depending on the size of the items.

Now, however, with a full squad and the pile of herbs they had harvested, they genuinely needed a place to stay.

"Alright, enough chit-chat. Time to sort and count these herbs," Nash said, cutting off the chatter.

Exiting the runic space, Nash stopped working, wanting to personally help them sort the harvest.

Taking out all the herbs they gathered over the past twelve hours, it piled up to a small mountain.

"Huh~ So much?!"

"Did we really pick all this?!"

"Rich! We’re rich!"

Staring at the mountain of herbs, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

The herb pickers had followed Nash’s instructions mechanically and had no idea how much they’d collected.

The combat team had also been too focused on guarding them to pay attention to the herbs.

Now, seeing all the herbs at once, their blood boiled with excitement.

"Don’t dawdle—time to work. Be careful..."

Leading the team, Nash began sorting the herbs by category, maturity, and type.

Fortunately, infused with void energy, the herbs weren’t easily spoiled and were still fresh as they sorted them.

---

Half an hour later, after everything was sorted, Nash quickly calculated the value by comparing the prices listed in the Herb Encyclopedia saved in the [Memory Module System].

"115 thousand merits..." Nash was stunned.

In just twelve hours, they earned about 115 thousand merits!

Factoring in the price fluctuation of the rare herbs and his deal with the Verdant Group, they might make around 125 thousand merits!

Meanwhile, hearing Nash’s calculation, the others were stunned.

One trip and they earned over a hundred thousand merits.

Looking at the neatly arranged herbs in a daze, they felt like they were dreaming.

Even if they didn’t make as much as Nash, they were still walking away with thousands of merits.

For a 3-star void warrior, earning a thousand merits per trip was already massive.

Multiply that by a few times, and they felt they were about to get rich.

Perhaps the only ones who didn’t react much were the 4-star void warriors.

With just a 5% cut, they only earned about 5 thousand merits.

If they put in the effort, with their strength and abilities, they could easily make that much on their own.

The saving grace was that these 5 thousand merits didn’t come from killing dark beasts; they earned it simply by being part of the team.

The merits from slaying dark beasts weren’t shared according to the team distribution, but through their contribution, calculated by the void administrator.

Thus, adding the thousands of merits they earned from killing the dark beast and over 5 thousand shares from the herbs, they made about 10 thousand merits in one trip!

Satisfied, they decided to stick with Nash’s team a little longer.

After sorting the herbs, Nash stored them back in his storage ring.

"Let me sell them to the Verdant Group. I should be able to get a good price."

"It’s up to you, boss. You can sell them to whoever you want."

"Should we sell now or later?"

"Of course, sell now. How could those merits wait?"

"But does the Verdant Group have a branch here?"

If they had to travel to a main shelter to sell the herbs, it would be a massive waste.

The round-trip teleportation alone costs tens of thousands of merits.

It would make more sense to stockpile the herbs before selling them.
