Chapter 101: Sun Tree Flower
A moment later, after clearing the battlefield, the group sat down to rest and tend to their injuries.
"How are the casualties?"
"Five... five of the 3-star void warriors died."
"Huh... Does anyone know their details? The Verdant Group will compensate their families."
"Hmm, they were my teammates from the..."
While someone listed the names of the fallen, Nash silently tallied his harvest.
During the siege, he and William managed to kill 12 Moonlight Wolves, worth a total of 14,400 merits.
With the added loot, fur, fangs, and an accessory glove, their haul should reach around 20,000 merits.
"You two are getting more and more incredible as time goes on," Lawrence said sincerely. "If you hadn’t taken down most of the dark beasts, the casualties would’ve been much worse."
In their amplified states, Nash and William were nearly comparable to his own strength.
Even though Lawrence had been fighting the Wolf King, he couldn’t help but feel that the two of them were handling even greater pressure.
"It’s nothing—it’s all thanks to Boss’s strength!" William replied, having recovered some stamina.
Though he had overpowered the wolves with brute strength, he knew he couldn’t have killed them with just that.
As for using the spear or another weapon himself? In his enlarged state, he was too clumsy to land a clean hit.
"Haha, no need to be humble. You’re both too brilliant to stay in the shadows," Lawrence laughed, lightening the gloomy atmosphere.
"You two, what’s your origin? How are you so strong?" Leslie asked curiously.
Much less their unusual strength, even the physical amplification technique they used was worth thinking about.
Void Amplification techniques were easy to find. As long as someone had decent status and some money, they could buy one.
However, physical amplification techniques that directly acted on the body were so rare that only top organizations had access to them.
Even Lawrence had only exchanged for a secret technique that multiplied his physical strength by three times.
"It’s a secret~" William shook his head, revealing nothing.
Having been with Nash for a while, William had learned to keep a low profile.
As long as it didn’t affect their core interests, it was better if others didn’t know their identity.
---
Soon, after a short rest, they continued their journey.
Baptized by blood and battle, they had no way back. They had to find what they were looking for.
Otherwise, the sacrifices of the dead, their spilled blood, and aching wounds would all be in vain.
Fortunately, the rest of their journey went smoothly.
Although they still encountered groups of 5-star dark beasts from time to time, there were no more casualties.
Reaching the center of the Willow Primeval Forest, they began another search.
Unfortunately, luck still didn’t seem to be on their side.
Even after grueling hours of searching, they found nothing.
However, in the midst of that misfortune, as they pushed farther, a glimpse of hope finally appeared.
"I found it!"
"What? You found it? Where?!"
"Finally! Where is it?!"
Looking at Nash, they felt all their fatigue vanish.
Even Lawrence felt his body relax, like a drizzle after the storm.
Following Nash, they finally found what they were searching for.
Nestled on a mossy boulder was a flower swaying gently, like a sun, illuminating the dark and gloomy place.
"It’s the Sun Tree Flower! I didn’t expect to see it here!" Cassius, the walking encyclopedia, one of their pathfinders, muttered in shock.
"So this is the famous Sun Tree Flower! I didn’t expect we’d get such a harvest!" Lawrence said excitedly.
Even though he didn’t have deep knowledge of herbs, he still knew about the Sun Tree Flower.
It was one of the few plants that could gather the power of the Sun Law.
Once it advanced to a Tier 3 plant, it could even condense Sun Elemental Crystals, each worth hundreds of millions of void crystals.
It was no longer just a herb, but a treasure cornucopia capable of producing wealth for generations.
"How much is this tree, anyway?" Nash asked curiously.
Seeing their reactions, he wondered just how much it could be sold for.
"This Sun Tree Flower is still in its budding stage. It can only gather wisps of Sun Law for now. Considering the time and effort needed to cultivate it to maturity... it should be worth about 43 million merits."
"Of course, that’s just the base price for the materials. Factoring in its potential, many people would pay far more," Cassius added, calculating its worth.
"Old man, you underestimate the Sun Tree Flower too much! I heard it was auctioned for 530 million Nova Credits recently!" one of the 3-star void warriors argued.
"I’m talking about merits. Using Nova Credits or Void Crystals is a different matter entirely," Cassius rolled his eyes.
Even though there was an exchange rate between merits and credits/void crystals, it was mostly for display.
Except for the desperate, no one was foolish enough to trade merits for Nova Credits.
"Alright, no need to argue. Let’s pick the herb first and get out of here," Lawrence said impatiently.
Who knew what might happen if they stayed here too long?
"Let me do it," Cassius offered, stepping forward as he carefully harvested the herb.
Even a small mistake could cause damage worth millions.
Soon, after removing the entire boulder and cleaning the edges, he called Lawrence over to pick it up.
"Let’s go. It’s time to return!"
Grabbing the boulder onto his shoulder, they began their return to the Willow Shelter.
---
A few hours later, in Black Willow Shelter.
"We’re back!"
"Finally! We can finally rest!"
Returning to the shelter, some of them couldn’t help but tear up.
The danger they had faced wasn’t something little void warriors like them should have experienced.
Fortunately, their return journey was much smoother than when they first came.
Walking the same path, they encountered far fewer dark beasts.
Inviting them in, they headed toward a rest house bought by the Verdant Group.
Slumping to the ground, they waited for Lawrence to tabulate their commission.
As for food, they were too tired to even move.
It wasn’t that their physical strength had run out, it was their minds that were ready to shut down.
Nash was also too tired. How could he still have the energy to cook for them?
Even William was quieter than usual.
