Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Welcome to the bloody side

"Sect Leader, it’s me Xong Zixin, why are you so stirred up by our arrival?"

"And there’s me too, Elder Wan Shui, why do you guys look so anxious? Has the Demonic Sect been under attack before?" asked Wan Shui and showed the Sect Leader and the elders he didn’t know his elder token. Seeing the elder’s token, the Sect Leader and the old geezers attacked without hesitation.

"What the..." Wan Shui and Zixin were surprised that they would be attacked the instant they returned to the sect. Acting quickly, Zixin shielded the others from the vicious attacks then grabbed at the sect leader with extreme speed. The sect leader hadn’t expected the giant to move so quickly and was about to sever the giant’s hands to teach it a lesson.

The sect leader’s body glowed in a crimson light as a sharp and corrosive energy enveloped his body. He was looking forward to seeing the giant in pain and agony but things didn’t turn out as he’d planned.

The instant his body came in contact with the giant’s grip, his energy was suppressed and he also lost all his cultivation, or at least felt that way. Which made him have the same expression as Wan Shui and the others when Zixin grabbed them, like he was experiencing something worse than death.

With the sect leader captured, the old geezers also stopped attacking and had confused looks. They too were expecting Zixin’s hand to be completely severed but that never happened.

"Sect Leader, why are you attacking us, it really is me and Wan Shui. What do we have to do to prove our identities?" said Zixin.

Looking carefully at Zixin, the sect leader could indeed see some resemblance of Zixin in the giant.

"Is it really you guys?" asked the sect leader.

"Of course, we can even swear on our Dao Hearts if you want." said Wan Shui, only then did the sect leader slightly believe them and calm the situation down. How could he not want the situation to calm down when he could be killed with only a squeeze of a hand.

"Tell us what happened."

"Yes, Sect Leader." Zixin and Wan Shui nodded with Wan Shui explaining everything that happened in their trip to the Sparrow Kingdom.

"So let me get this straight. At the Red Rose Sect, you encountered a fellow who was initially trash but had turned into a sword master, then you killed him, absorbed his memories and obtained many techniques he had. One of these techniques then led to Zixin’s current size after you visited the Volcanic Sect?"asked the sect leader.

"That is correct. I even have these to prove that we aren’t lying." said Zixin as he took out the stone tablets, dragon skin and the corpses of the experts he killed. He hadn’t checked their storage rings so didn’t take them out.

"Were these the enemies you were talking about?" asked the sect leader as he gave Zixin his most serious look.

"Yes." nodded Zixin.

The old geezers and the sect leader gave each other a deep look before nodding slightly. The sect leader then collected the corpses and left the other treasures.

"These corpses are enough, you can keep everything else. Now, follow me, there’s something you must know." said the sect leader. Then everyone followed the sect leader who had opened an underground tunnel by pushing his throne slightly back. They then entered the underground tunnel that was completely dark until they reached the centre of the tunnel which was very massive.

It was like a huge catacomb with the different entrances to this place. At the centre of this place was an ink black tree with red flames for leaves. Around the tree was a pool of thick blood and the tree had plunged its roots deep within the blood pool. The sect leader then threw the Unification Realm corpses and began to talk with his back facing Zixin and the others.

"You do know that the Demonic Sect is a Five Star Sect right?"

"Yes."

"Well, that hasn’t always been the case. Back in the day, the Demonic Sect was an Ancient Sect that was once at the food chain. We lived in peace and harmony with the orthodox until we found a seed and a book in an ancient ruin. The seed was the seed of a tree called the Nether Tree and could open the portal to the Underworld where demons reside, we simply had to feed it vast amounts of blood for it to grow.

The orthodox sects learned of this information and attacked us with full force. Many Ancient Families and Sects were destroyed by us and all those that defeated us did so at a price. The previous sect leader left me with the task of raising the seed and opening the portal to hell. He said something about eternal life and immense power.

The Ancient Peach Blossom Sect, Ancient Barbarian Sect, Ancient Giant Sect, Ancient Sword Sect, Ancient Buddhist Temple, Ancient Divine Lightning Sect, Ancient War Sect and the Ancient Starry Sect are the sects from ancient times that still remain. And Zixin, you just killed five of the Ancient Peach Blossom Sect core disciples. It’s only a matter of time before they come for us.

The Blacksmith Association, Alchemy Association and the Array Formation Association are young and upcoming organisations with the power of the Ancient Sects or extremely close to it. I’m telling you all of this because I’m going to try and open the gate to the Underworld and summon the demons. By doing so, everyone in the sect will be marked as traitors by the World Spirit and will be hunted down by the world in order to obtain Heavenly Merit or World Blessings.

If you want to leave the Demonic Sect, you can do so now and I’ll allow it. The cruelty of demons is much greater than you can imagine. They rape women and children if they feel like it, devour human flesh if they feel like it and colonise worlds and teraform them. This place will become a warzone till the other side manages to close the portal and completely eradicate all Demonic Cultivators.

"I’ll join the side that isn’t bullied. As for what they do to other humans, how is it my business? I only focus on my own strength!"
