Chapter 304: Chapter 183: New Undead npc—Architect_2

Quickly, the two of them finished off all the small dishes and white porridge, leaving their bowls spotlessly clean.

"This is just one of the places here; there are so many shops around that you could go a whole month without having the same breakfast twice. Just at this place, the side dishes can be switched around a lot too—pickled vegetables, diced radish, sour radish..." Alike couldn’t help but enlighten him, adding that among all the small dishes, his favorite was the sour radish. Its sweet and sour taste, plus the crispy texture, he truly loved it. "Oh right, there are also fried dough sticks! Look over there; they’re getting them from next door to go with their white porridge."

"Sure, I’ll give them a try someday," Tures nodded, looking at Alike with gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you."

When he had arrived in this territory, everything was unfamiliar, but the other person had helped him integrate into it.

Even though it was just a small gesture, he now felt a sense of belonging to Hope Village and no longer felt so alone.

Seeing Tures’s sincere appreciation, Alike smiled, "After all, we’re going to be colleagues from now on! Plus we share the same identity, so let’s help each other out!"

"Do you really like it here?" Tures asked.

"Yeah, it’s great here. Whether it’s the village chief, the residents of the territory, or the environment of the territory itself, I like it all," Alike admitted without hesitation. "I believe you’ll come to like it here too."

With that, Alike stood up, noting that the others had almost finished eating as well. He simply said, "Once we’re done eating, it’s off to work. Let’s go!"

Following suit, Tures got up and soon left the shop. He looked around and asked, "Where are you all heading?"

"We have lots of tasks, different teams take turns. Today our mission is still to patrol the surroundings of the territory and deal with any dangerous Demon Beasts," Alike explained. "We are warriors; you’ll probably be busy within the territory most of the time with different tasks, but there might be a chance for us to work together soon. Plus, we can hang out after work! Find me when you have time."

Listening to this, Tures didn’t ask further questions and simply nodded, "Okay."

Following that, Alike led his team toward the outskirts of the territory.

Tures watched his back for a while before turning his gaze and heading in the direction of the Lord Mansion.

Along the way, Tures saw many lively groups of people, all beaming with high spirits.

Sometimes, the happiness of the residents represents the happiness of a territory, and the residents here seemed quite content.

That’s good.

A smile involuntarily formed on Tures’s lips.

Just as these thoughts crossed his mind, several teams also took notice of him.

Instantly, many eyes locked onto him, their expressions filled with excited curiosity.

"Wow! A new NPC!"

"It’s been a while since a new NPC appeared in the territory, this one just popped up."

"This NPC must be something special."

"I wonder what profession it will have?"

"Go ask him."

"Why don’t you go?"

"I’m shy!"

"..."

A cheerful discussion reached Tures’s ears.

Tures paused, taken aback. NPC? Were they referring to him as an Undead by another term???

What intrigued him more, however, was the somewhat... vivacious character of these residents.

While Tures pondered, someone was pushed forward and then, hesitantly, approached him and asked, "Excuse me, what’s your profession?"

"...Architect," Tures replied, feeling a bit odd inside, but he gave an honest answer.

"Thank you," the person said, promptly retreating back to their original group.

"It’s an architect, huh."

"I wonder how different he is from our previous architects?"

"Does he have any special skills?"

"We should know soon enough; the territory wouldn’t have summoned him here to loaf around. He’ll be put to use quickly."

"I’m looking forward to it."

"Me too."

"..."

The unabashedly curious onlookers, then seeing that Tures was watching them, flashed him a brilliant smile, showing no embarrassment whatsoever.

Tures: "..."

And so, Tures experienced this peculiar encounter several more times on his way to the Lord Mansion.

He quickly transitioned from feeling awkward to becoming indifferent.

Piecing together various bits of information, he concluded that there were three types of residents in Hope Village.

The first type was the original residents, whose appearance and lively spirit differed from the locals. The myriad of gourmet shops in the territory were mostly their doing—seemingly a part of their treasured heritage and indicative of a diverse "background," including lifestyle and education.

The second type was the local residents, mostly people who had moved from nearby territories—ordinary Humans and Professionals with personalities akin to what he was familiar with, maintaining an appropriately nice distance from others, though they were starting to be slightly influenced by the original residents.

The third type, referred to by the original residents as NPCs, specifically designated those summoned by the Heroic Spirit Hall and the Beast God Temple. Free within the territory and enjoying the same rights as the original residents, their only distinguishing feature was attracting more attention. Currently, the group included multiple races—Undead, Dwarves, Goblins, and Beastmen—each with their own role within the territory, as directed by the territory and the Lord.

He had never seen such a diverse range of races coexisting peacefully in one territory before.

But Hope Village had achieved it.

Indeed, it was a unique territory, with an equally unique group of original residents.

One could say that Hope Village’s success was, in no small part, thanks to this group of original residents.

Unexpectedly, Tures felt a tinge of anticipation for the new life that awaited him in Hope Village.
