Chapter 250: Chapter 156: Understanding Hope Village
As Morrison was thinking this, several commoners were hired on the spot, including an elderly man.
When the elderly man was hired, his expression was one of disbelief, "Are you really hiring me? I am not very strong..."
"You don’t need much strength, you just need to be able to tidy things up, this is considered a welfare position specially prepared for the old, weak, and disabled," the hiring person said without hesitation.
"Thank you," the elderly man said gratefully, his eyes seemingly reddening.
He had no labor power left, and had been begging on the streets in his original territory—it was the team from Hope Village who told him that at his age he could eat for free in Hope Village, which was why he followed the team there.
Unexpectedly, apart from getting free food, he was also able to find a job.
Seeing how excited the old man was, a professional next to Morrison couldn’t help but speak out, "My family members are all commoners, if they were in Hope Village, they might be able to find suitable jobs too."
This remark won several nods of agreement.
They all came from ordinary families; their families couldn’t all be professionals.
In their own territories, it was they who supported their entire families—if something happened to them, the family’s pillar would be gone.
But in Hope Village, it was different.
Morrison looked at the expressions of the few people in the team and paused internally.
His family background was still relatively well-off, though he was moved by the preferential treatment of commoners in Hope Village, he was not emotionally stirred.
But it was different for the few people around him—most of them came from common families.
The preferential treatment for commoners in Hope Village was enough to touch their hearts.
If his own people felt this way, what about those from other merchant teams!
Once the news spread, the existence of Hope Village would attract countless commoners.
And as long as the population increased, one of the essential conditions for the development of Hope Village would be met.
Morrison’s eyes held a trace of deep thought—was this the purpose of Hope Village?
Thinking this, Morrison calmly said, "Our merchant team will come to Hope Village again, if your families want to come here, we can escort them here."
Morrison believed that the benefits he provided to his subordinates were enough to keep them, and as for their families, staying in Hope Village would not hinder them from working for him, and it could even solve their family concerns.
So, if they had this thought, giving them a good deal was not an issue.
Hearing Morrison say this, the others exchanged looks, their eyes slightly gleaming.
However, they eventually restrained their eager hearts.
"Let’s see! After all, Hope Village is still a Level 2 village," they said as they held on to their reason; even though Hope Village currently looked so promising, it was still a newly established territory and what it would become in the end, no one knew.
There were doubts about its strength.
They decided to observe further.
Seeing this, Morrison didn’t say much and led the team to the right.
On the way, they noticed the blacksmith shop, tailor shop, and other buildings on the side, but as for buildings in the territory, they had no great interest and simply moved past them, continuing forward.
Soon they took notice of a large open area at one side.
In this large open area, numerous people were digging pits, with someone holding a sheepskin scroll on the side, writing and gesturing simultaneously, forming neatly organized channels on the ground.
"This is Hope Village’s construction team; they are going to build a factory here, and that area is for the school," someone from the scene yesterday hurriedly explained.
Morrison responded lightly, not saying much, as he already knew this from the day before.
Now, he was just waiting to see what the so-called factory and school would look like once built.
These two concepts were different from what they knew.
Factory = workshop.
School = academy.
And these two were not items that a village like Hope Village could unlock.
Yet, Hope Village was indeed forging a new path.
"Can I construct a building that meets the standards on my own?"
Then they continued walking forward and quickly reached a corner, turning it with a hint of curiosity in everyone’s eyes.
The territorial section behind this ought to have the largest remaining open space.
So, is it vacant now, or has it already been utilized, and if it’s the latter, for what other purpose?
After walking past a stretch of open road, a vast expanse of land slowly came into view in front of Morrison and his companions.
Quite a bit of this large piece of land was unused.
But those 20 acres of farmland, paired with mature grains and fruits, stood out remarkably.
They could hardly believe that Hope Village would utilize such a large area for planting crops.
With such a scale, if it was to be planted long-term, Hope Village wouldn’t have to worry about food at all!
Of course, for many territories primarily focused on agriculture, this acreage might not seem like much, but Hope Village was envisioned by Morrison as a territory evolving towards a commercial town.
If successful, the future land of Hope Village would be as valuable as gold.
From a commercial perspective, using the land for business purposes evidently holds more value.
Yet Hope Village still focused on agriculture.
All it could mean was that the Lord behind this territory was exceedingly cautious, preventing others from seizing Hope Village by the throat with food shortages during special periods.
While thinking this, Morrison kept walking.
He soon noticed an especially large figure.
"There are Sheep Beastmen here!" Morrison exclaimed in surprise.
Earlier on the road, he had noticed Tiger-men, Kobolds, and Bull-men.
They were walking around the territory in armor, looking quite imposing and deterrent.
But ultimately, there weren’t many of them, and for someone who had seen the Beastman Army, the sight of a few Beastmen in Hope Village did not stir Morrison much.
But Sheep Beastmen were different.
Although they held a low status in the Beastman Kingdom, they were very popular in the Human Clan Kingdom.
Yet, it was rare to see Sheep Beastmen in the human markets.
And here in Hope Village, there were actually two hidden.
Oh no, two. Morrison noticed another Sheep Beastman in the distance.
Seeing the Demon Beasts following the other, Morrison realized that they were involved in breeding.
With these two Sheep Beastmen around, Hope Village didn’t have to worry about food either.
Then, seeing the label in the distance that prohibited entry, Morrison stopped in his tracks.
A place like farmland being forbidden from entry could only mean one thing, the crops being grown were meant to remain a secret.
Morrison’s eyes flickered briefly, probably related to the products of Hope Village!
Hope Village was also confident.
Upon reflection, Hope Village was indeed quite eclectic in its hiring!
Besides these Beastmen, the ostracized Undead also held important positions in the territory.
Good welfare, a lucid territory, well-prepared food supply, and flagship products—all these elements together were enough to prove that the future of Hope Village wouldn’t be bleak.
At this point, Morrison was reassured.
The next moment, leading his team, he turned and left.
He was now certain of one thing—Hope Village was a candidate for long-term collaboration!
With that in mind, the next step was to select the right products.
Currently, there were quite a few merchant teams in Hope Village, and he hoped to be the most competitive among them.
