I Became The Academy Necromancer -
Chapter 343: Side Story - As Family
“I’m sorry.”
Honestly, I expected it would end up like this.
It was so obvious, that I didn’t even need to look.
The moment Erica, who had momentarily lost her focus, returned to her senses, Professor Fel, who had been caught up in her own madness, was subdued and forced to kneel down.
And after returning to her senses, Professor Fel admitted that she had gone too far. She was now reflecting on what she had said and feeling embarrassed.
Professor Fel was great, but every time she got a little too immersed in her research and went on a rampage, it always gave me a fresh shock.
…Though, I couldn’t really say I liked the surprise.
“Throw all of those away! What are you even bringing into an academy where students walk around? Do you know how bad it is for education?!”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”
Professor Fel now had her forehead flat on the ground as she apologized.Normally, I’d feel a little sorry for her, but this time, I didn’t feel sorry at all.
She actually needed to be scolded even more.
On another note, I was already inside the artificial body Professor Fel had created.
It’s definitely sturdy.
When I checked the durability by releasing some mana, it was able to withstand about twice the amount of the previous artificial body.
Though there was some discomfort when I moved my body, made expressions, or moved my mouth.
I didn’t like having to attach strange things to my lower body, but I figured I’d give it a few days to see how it felt to live in this artificial body, just in case.
Clunk.
“Ah, why do I have to do this?”
With an irritated murmur, a woman with short hair entered the laboratory.
Deia Verdi.
Caught off guard by her sudden appearance, both Erica and I stared at her in surprise. Deia, in turn, stood there staring back at me.
“Huh?”
But despite the unexpectedness of the encounter, both of us were flustered while trying to process what was happening.
“Ah, right!”
Professor Fel, who seemed to know something, tried to get up casually, but as soon as she met Erica’s sharp gaze, she returned to her original position.
“What are you doing here?”
“That’s what I want to ask you.”
When I responded to her question, Deia immediately began grumbling in irritation.
“You and Darius said you were going to set me up for a match.”
“So, you’re doing that here?”
I wondered why she was doing it in Loberne instead of the capital, Graypond, which would have been much more convenient.
“Do you really think I can go to the capital right now? Knowing that I’m from the Verdi Household, they’ll be watching me closely. I probably won’t be able to step foot on that land for years.”
“…”
Normally, Darius would have had to give up the position of Margrave, but thanks to his achievements in protecting the Norseweden mountain range and leading the efforts to suppress me, Orpheus allowed him to avoid taking the responsibility by imposing a penalty similar to a fine.
“And so, I’m having the matchmaking session here. If I tell the other parties to come to Norseweden, those weaklings living in the heart of the kingdom will have a hard time.”
It was a fitting manner of speaking for a northern Amazon, but it wasn’t something she could say to her match candidates.
“Watch your words. One of them might become your husband.”
“Oh?”
Deia, who immediately found my warning absurd, strode forward to approach me.
“You’re not my older brother at the moment. You’re not Deus. You’re Kim Shinwoo.”
“…Yeah, that’s right.”
Hearing her put it like that, I felt a little hurt. However, I didn’t show it outwardly. After all, we were once family.
“Well, strictly speaking, I guess you’re like the older brother from next door?
Seemingly realizing she had misspoken, Deia quickly corrected herself, but honestly, that didn’t sit well with me either.
“So, did you attend a matchmaking meeting today?”
“Yeah, I have five more meetings scheduled over the next week. Darius, that crazy bastard, I can’t believe what he’s doing to his sister…”
“He’s probably worried about you. Even though the Verdi name is currently under bad scrutiny, agreeing to attend the matchmaking means they’re somewhat serious, right?”
“So what? There’s no one I like. Do you know what the bastard I met today said to me?”
It had naturally devolved into a complaining session, but I immediately paid attention to what Deia was saying.
It was because I appreciated how she treated me as if we’d just met yesterday, even though it had been a while.
But…
“He asked if I had experience. He said I couldn’t be a virgin. And when I didn’t respond, do you know what he said? ‘Why don’t we go into a hotel and check it out? Just put it in once…’”
“Right now.”
I couldn’t bear to listen anymore. Every item in the laboratory began to resonate with my mana and shake.
Shhzzzzz!
The new artificial body should have been able to withstand a significant amount of mana, but at some point, the skin began to crack, and pieces started to fall off.
However, I paid it no heed and continued.
“Where is that bastard?”
Just thinking of heading there immediately and tearing him apart made me speak with such force.
“Calm down.”
Upon seeing my reaction, Deia covered her mouth with her hand and stopped me.
“I pointed my gun at him and asked if he wanted another hole punched in his ass, and he got scared and fled immediately.”
“Huff…”
“You know that I’m not the type to just let things like that slide, right?”
She was right.
Honestly, I should have been praising her for not pulling the trigger right away.
Even knowing that, I still couldn’t help but sigh. My body was unable to handle the intense mana erupting from within and slowly began to collapse.
“I’ll have to contact Darius soon and give him a piece of my mind. Even if it was urgent, he should have vetted the person properly.”
“Well, that’s just how he works. He probably glanced at the papers, thought it looked fine, and pushed ahead with the matchmaking.”
The fact that Darius judged the match only by looking at the papers already didn’t sit well with me.
He probably tried his best, but still, Darius was better suited for holding a sword and protecting Norseweden.
“Ugh, change your artificial body first. It’s going to break apart.”
“Yeah…”
She’d been covering her mouth since earlier, but from what I could see, she was probably smiling.
I guess she found it funny to see me get upset and release my mana all of a sudden.
I just showed a pathetic sight of myself.
With that thought, I turned around and saw Professor Fel staring at my broken body with a look of defeat.
“I worked really hard to make thisss.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I-I’ll give you the one you used before. I made quite a few samples for a conference presentation this time.”
Saying that, Fel headed back to the corner of the lab. She stumbled slightly, likely because her legs had fallen asleep from kneeling, making her movements unsteady.
Exchanging glances, Erica and I smiled awkwardly at the uncomfortable atmosphere.
“What’s that?”
Deia’s eyes opened wide as she stared at the items on the cart.
She looked dumbfounded as she stared at the obscene, towering items standing proudly, showing off their different heights and shapes.
Then, her gaze naturally drifted towards my lower body. When I furrowed my brow, Deia cleared her throat and turned her head.
“C-Cough. I mean, do you really have to use stuff like that?”
“Fel only suggested it, and I rejected it!”
Erica quickly answered Deia’s question in my place. Her attempt to justify herself against Deia’s accusation of making her older brother do something weird was quite impressive.
“Really? No matter what, that’s just too much. You’re not the one serving him unconditionally.”
“…”
Unconditional service.
It wasn’t entirely wrong.
As Deia said, if I were to use something like that, I’d be just moving my hips without feeling anything.
It was truly heartbreaking.
However, when I thought about what I was doing with these women, I wondered if I should perhaps do something like that for them.
Even while living with several women, the only forms of expressions of affection I could offer were foolishly pleasuring them with my hand or kissing them.
Since my body was like this, what I could do was limited, so I felt I had to do everything within my capability.
“What are you thinking about?”
With her arms crossed, Deia came up to me, sticking her face out.
“Nothing, really.”
“Nothing? Don’t lie, I can clearly tell you were thinking about something.”
“…”
When I didn’t respond, a surprised Erica hurriedly approached.
“Wait a minute! Don’t think about anything weird!”
“But Erica.”
I also hated it. Wasn’t it ridiculous?
However, when I thought about how there was so little I could do for them, I wondered if that was all I could offer.
“Get a grip of yourself. What’s wrong with you, huh? Where did the man with unshakable, strong convictions go?”
Erica yelled, clearly frustrated.
“I’m with you because I want to. Even if we were to have a relationship, it’s because I want to share my love with you, not because I want physical pleasure.”
“…”
“Sigh, if I’d known you were this anxious, I wouldn’t have listened to what the Saintess said.”
“Saintess? Stella?”
When I questioned her, Erica shut her mouth immediately. Realizing she had said something she shouldn’t have, she quickly averted her gaze.
Deia naturally stepped in.
“Yeah, if you have to rely on something like that and they only want you to shake your hips, that’s the end of it.”
Deia’s words were firm, and there was a sort of warning in her tone.
“Just like you don’t want to marry me off to those weirdos… I can’t let you be taken by those kinds of bitches either.”
“Deia.”
“If that’s the case, you should just stay in the Verdi Household for the rest of your life. With me… no, with us.”
Being accepted as a family member was satisfying, but Erica, who was standing next to me, felt a strange discomfort and interjected.
“There’s no need for that. I don’t like him because of that.”
“Oh, I was worried for a moment, thinking you might be going wild since you broke off the engagement.”
“I’m sorry, but I’ve never broken off the engagement. It’s just that he’s officially recorded as deceased.”
“Why did you two start arguing suddenly?”
I asked, confused by the sudden cold atmosphere, and Deia responded irritably.
“Stay over tonight. Let’s have a talk, just the two of us, as family.”
Deia emphasized the word ‘family’.
“Wait, he’s going—!”
Erica tried to say something urgently, but I nodded without giving it much thought.
Unable to finish her sentence, Erica glared at me and punched my back lightly.
“Idiot.”
