Chapter 291: Battling Zero Part 1

"I am not mad. I will deal with you later. Let’s go." Arlen looked down worriedly, "Anouk would be alright, right?"

"He would be alright," Ravi said. His eyes narrowed on a location and he took off.

He slowed down for Arlen to catch up and he looked at his lover hesitantly.

Arlen sighed, "Ravi, I am not angry with you, okay?" This man, Zero was not a villain from Earth but one of the cultivators that he had already heard about. He could not afford Ravi to be so distracted when fighting him. "But you cannot do that again."

Ravi nodded, "I won’t."

His eyes were more gold than hazel and they were the most beautiful thing that Arlen had ever seen. He almost forgot why he was upset earlier.’

If he did not know any better, he would say that Ravi was doing it on purpose.

He cleared his throat, raising his hand to shield Ravi from the extreme wind that gusted by, "Ravi, you have to be vigilant when fighting him. You have not met your match or fought anyone strong enough since Luxor. It has been a while, things might have changed, do not underestimate your opponent. If you cannot defeat him, retreat first. We would think of Plan C then." Arlen said.

Ravi looked at his boyfriend who was furrowing his brows in thought and worry and he could only feel like his heart was full, so full that it was overflowing.

"Min Sol, it is quite upsetting that you don’t trust your boyfriend to defeat an ascended immortal."

So, now you know how it feels for a lover not to have faith in you, was what Arlen wanted to say. He turned slightly to his left. Ravi’s slightly long hair moved in the wind, and his eyes were alight with a smile.

Arlen swallowed. He recalled when he thought that Ravi would look even more beautiful if he smiled, and then he had underestimated just how stunning a smiling Ravi was. His eyes moved to those pink lips and he shook his head, they had a very important mission, what was he thinking about right now?

No, the words he had been planning to say were wrong. They were a lie.

Because of his thoughts, he had slowed down a bit, causing Ravi to easily pass him. He saw Ravi’s back, he could trace that back even in his sleep, those beautiful shoulder blades.

His back was thin and yet it had carried so, so many heavy burdens, never collapsing, always remaining upright.

Even now with Zero waiting for them and the children to rescue and his brother acting odd wasn’t he still at ease? Because of Ravi.

His throat bobbed and then he called in a low voice, "Ravi."

Ravi looked at him, "Yes?"

"Tonight. Look forward to my reward this night." Arlen teased and laughed.

"Oh! Okay. Just know my expectations are high."

Arlen’s lips tilted slightly, "I can always exceed your expectations. It is my favorite thing to do."

Ravi chuckled, He felt so heavy, and yet he felt like he was about to float.

The two of them looked at each other, whispering a quiet shared promise with their gaze.

Five minutes later, they could tell that they had reached the entrance of the storm.

Ravi paused, his energy stretching forth and making a quiet survey of the entire area. He took out a necklace from his pocket and handed it to Arlen.

"The little monks are another dimension."

"He took them outside Earth."

"No, they are still on Earth, just near the rift. He opened a dimension, a small one. It is easy to do."

Arlen did not debate the ease of opening dimensions with his lover, "This necklace should help me get in.:"

"Yes." Ravi nodded; he used a lot of these items from the Sentinel Store when he was still beginning. "Arlen, be careful. The dimension is near a rift. Your body cannot handle cosmic energy so avoid the rift as much as possible. These should help." He took out an earring, then a boat, and then a black mirror.

"This one should make it easy for you to carry heavy loads, this one can deliver a full attack of a dragon, this horn can..." His pocket seemed to be bottomless as he brought out one thing after the other. Arlen held his hand to stop him.

"I would be fine. You may be number one in the Universe but on Earth, I am number one."

"Actually, it is your mom."

"Raviiiii!"

Ravi chuckled before the smile faded from his face and he looked ahead, narrowing his eyes.

Why wasn’t Zero running? It was as if he was waiting for him.

"Min sol." He looked at Arlen one more time. Arlen waved his hand, "I have already requested backup. Don’t worry about the kids and do what you need to do."

Ravi nodded and vanished.

He appeared in front of Zero.

The man looked a little different from earlier. He had returned to his original appearance. His long grey hair was tied into a low ponytail and he wore a long, dark-colored coat with wide sleeves and a fitted waist.

A card was floating in the air, showing both Malik and Anouk discussing. He held a box containing the black silk.

There was no particular emotion on his face when he saw Ravi.

The black silk was surely very important to Anouk but compared to Malik? Malik was not a piece of clothing; he was a piece of the soul.

Ravi did not doubt Malik’s capability to keep Anouk safe and away from here, he understood the importance of keeping Anouk from any unforgivable sin until he was dead.

Zero’s plan was bound to go awry from the moment Ravi chose this planet to retire.

"Ravi West. My name is Zero Fyne. Son of Fyne." Zero put away the box and the golden card returned to his hand.

Ravi cocked his head slightly, "Before I reached here, you had enough time to leave yet you didn’t. Have you made your peace?"

Ravi did not know which immortal had assigned the mission to Zero, as a Sentinel, the politics of Heaven was far above his paygrade but he knew that Zero’s fate was sealed the moment he accepted the mission.

He took out River, the sword glowing slightly.

"I was only fourteen when I received the Qiahan Legacy. I was so delighted, but who knew that the gates of immortality would be so difficult." Zero sighed, holding the golden card lightly in his hand.

"You want to kill me? Ravi West, you are not qualified?"
