Chapter 685: Chapter 682: Why Do You Want to Kill Me_1

Tang Ye was stunned, giving Ah Fu, who was busy digging the hole, a long and deep look. He discovered that the Hive was too naive, like a child who was just beginning to experience the world, believing anything that anyone said.

"You...aren’t you afraid I’ll do something to you?"

"Huh?"

The Hive was puzzled again.

"The brain is the biggest weakness of a zombie. If I destroy your brain, you will die!"

"What is dying... I don’t know."

The Hive sent such a message. Tang Ye didn’t say anything else, instead, he simply watched Ah Fu swinging the large halberd while digging downwards.

After about ten minutes, Ah Fu yelled out, attracting Tang Ye’s attention.

"Boss, I’ve hit soil!"

Ah Fu grabbed a handful of black soil and flung it away. Tang Ye looked closely and indeed it was soil. As for why it was black, it might be due to the hive being here, causing the soil below to be dyed with some unknown substance.

"We’ve finally reached the bottom, the Hive’s brain should be right ahead." Liang Hanyang looked up, everything was pitch black. He could vaguely see some zombies with peculiar appearances moving around above. Every now and then, a zombie would tumble down, letting out a piercing shriek.

Ah Fu and Liang Hanyang moved forward. Annoyed with Little White’s fuss, Liang Hanyang pressed it against the flesh wall of the Hive. Using a few tendrils hanging above, he bound her and warned, "Little White, don’t run around. Otherwise, this big guy will eat you."

By "big guy", Liang Hanyang of course meant Ah Fu. As for Little White, she seemed not to fully understand, issuing irregular growls and completely ignored Liang Hanyang. However, she chuckled, following after Ah Fu.

Tang Ye asked the Hive’s consciousness, "Hive, can you control the zombies outside?"

The Hive seemed perplexed for a moment before answering, "You mean...get them to obey me?"

"Yes."

"I don’t know if I can."

"Hmm."

A spark appeared in Tang Ye’s eyes, as he waited for them to find the Hive’s brain and try controlling it. If he could control it, that would be ideal, if not, he would do away with it. Based on the conversation he’d just had with the Hive, seemingly it had no means of attack and was very naive. It was like a blank sheet of paper. However, Tang Ye couldn’t guarantee that the Hive could control him, and he had also considered letting the Hive try controlling him.

Tang Ye was apprehensive, scared that if he was controlled, he would become a puppet of the Hive forever. He was afraid that once the Hive started to control him, it wouldn’t stop.

Although Tang Ye himself might have some abilities that couldn’t be controlled by other zombie’s minds, that was only speculation.

"Right, the Hive is so naive. If someone else with nefarious intentions was around, they’d probably already be dead. It won’t hurt its kind, so there’s probably no harm in trying..."

Suddenly, Tang Ye thought of something. His gaze lingered on Liang Hanyang for a moment before becoming serious. He spoke to the Hive again, "Hive."

"$#&%@...What is it?"

"Try and see if you can control her and get her to listen to you."

"I...don’t have that ability..." The Hive hesitated for a moment before finally answering.

"How about this one?" Tang Ye pointed to Little White, but the Hive still said it couldn’t.

Tang Ye did not continue speaking, following after Ah Fu. After a few minutes, they reached a dead-end in the darkness. As they went deeper, the color of the flesh wall around them gradually changed from black-red and dark brown to purple. Then, red and yellow stripes appeared on the flesh wall, accompanied by flesh spikes. The deeper they went, the longer these spikes grew.

They began to encounter some zombies that were indescribable in appearance. They all lacked a human form, some had deformed limbs, heads that were oddly shaped like humans’ fists. They had insect-like shells covering their bodies, and others had split abdomens without any internal organs. Instead, they had pairs of bug-like legs that left pus and yellow fluid everywhere they went.

There were also some whose arms and legs had split and didn’t resemble a human form. Their palms and soles of their feet had evolved into having octopus-like tentacles. It looked like they had octopuses growing out of their palms and feet. Zombies varied greatly in appearance, coupled with the dim space within the Hive, made Tang Ye and the others feel like they were in a surreal world.

The surrounding environment had garnered the attention of Liang Hanyang and Ah Fu. Liang Hanyang spoke up after surveying their surroundings, "The appearance here has changed, we should be nearing the Hive’s brain. It seems like it’s not far, Boss, do you really want to..."

"Ahem, ahem." Tang Ye quickly interrupted. At first, Tang Ye had some murderous intent towards the Hive, but now was hesitant. The Hive was so naive. It kept producing zombies tirelessly every day, which might pose some threats to Gujin Base in the long run.

Tang Ye did not know whether the Hive had the ability to control other zombies. However, he knew that the Hive did not know how to control zombies. The Hive harbored no malice; the ability to produce zombies might be its unconscious behavior. Now, what Tang Ye was more worried about, was whether humans might attack the Hive.

The Hive’s body was too big, occupying nearly six kilometers in radius in Liang City, which was close to thirty square kilometers. Such a large body, coupled with its endless production of zombies, would surely attract human attention one day. When that time comes, surrounding bases would probably launch a military offensive on it!

"Hive, if I wanted to kill you, would you resist?"

"I... don’t know. Why would you want to kill me?" The Hive was still confused, but Tang Ye fell silent.

At this time, Ah Fu turned back to him and shouted, "Boss, it’s another dead-end."

Tang Ye looked ahead, there was a dead end. The zombies standing there roared and left when they saw them.

"Break..." Tang Ye was about to let Ah Fu break through, but seemed to have thought of something. He quickly asked the Hive’s consciousness, "Can you control your own flesh?"

"What?"

"Open this wall," Tang Ye said.

However, the Hive fell silent. Tang Ye was about to say something else, but saw the flesh wall in front of him began to shrink to both sides. In a while, the dead-end was open to the front.

"What..." Ah Fu looked confused.

Tang Ye was also taken aback.

"If you could open the path for us, why didn’t you say so?"

"??"

The Hive was still puzzled, not understanding Tang Ye’s meaning.

"Ah, nevermind." Tang Ye waved his hand, leading Ah Fu to continue moving forward.

Now, he understood that the Hive was like a buffalo. However, it lacked the buffalo’s brute force, but it was just as stupid! It only reacts when instructed, just like a buffalo that only moves when whipped!

If the Hive had opened the path for Tang Ye and the group earlier, Ah Fu wouldn’t have had to waste so much time and effort digging from top to bottom. And, it wouldn’t have irked itself either.
