Chapter 617: Chapter 615: The Suddenly Roaring Voice_1
Upon Tang Ye’s command, the zombie tiger let out a roar, its four limbs moving in swift strides, unleashing the top speed of a Level 5 zombie tiger. The black robe on Tang Ye also swished and rustled due to the wind created by its speedy gallop.
The enormous body of the zombie tiger faced strong wind resistance when it ran. In the cold winter, the sharp wind it stirred chilled to the marrow. The chilling cold! On the path of Gao Shunan’s escape, he saw a road sign, reading "Qulong River".
...
Gag~
Under the wreck of a collapsed building, a leafless dry tree stood alone, and a white, frost-bitten hand tirelessly dug into the accumulated snow beneath it. Due to the effort of this hand, the snow had been dug out bit by bit, revealing a pile of snow behind the hand’s owner.
Finally, she touched the ground. The face of the girl dressed in a pink Lolita dress revealed joy, but she didn’t give up. Her cold hands seemed to be immune to coldness as they repeatedly performed the same action. Her other hand moved to her throat as tears were provoked by a feeling of nausea.
Choke~
She made a dry heaving noise, her stomach turned, feeling uncomfortable. However, she didn’t stop, still jamming her hand in her throat, seeming to dig something out.
Gulp~ Gag...
It seemed to be successful. She stopped the action of her hand. After her throat squirmed, she vomited out gastric juice and the remains of food, and within this filth was something that resembled gallstones. This was something that the spider forcefully made her swallow, used mainly to decrease the activity of the body’s molecules and to make the person consuming it have no scent whatsoever.
This was also why Gao Shunan and the others couldn’t sense the presence of the spider or her. They all had this item to thank for it. However, this thing had some side effects and only worked on humans. Her weak and slender body was due to this as well.
Having vomited it out wasn’t because she wanted to die or for Gao Shunan to find her. Rather, this thing came from the mouth of the spider and was covered with sticky fluid when it was spat out, it was disgustingly nauseating. She was forced to swallow it and even now she still felt a sense of nausea.
Seeing this thing, the girl let out a sigh of relief and began to use both of her hands to dig the snow. Initially, she thought that what she touched was the ground. However, after much effort, she discovered that what she touched wasn’t the ground, but a frozen, stiff corpse!
Ah!
She was startled and continued to plow the snow elsewhere. Till when she had cleaned out the thick layer of snow around her, she clasped the hand of the corpse. Its skin was pale, its flesh detached in some places, revealing the underlying muscle tissue. Clearly, it was a zombie’s body.
Swoosh~
Under her remaining strength, this body was dragged out by her, covered with a layer of snow. The head of the body was missing half of its brain, the remaining part had shriveled, turned yellow, and carried a bit of frost.
She dragged the body to one side, revealing the dirt under the barren tree. However, the dirt had already dried out. Even if it had been made somewhat moist by the heavy snow, she could only scrape out a tiny bit of mud.
"Damn it."
The girl tossed her long hair backward. That spider was a pervert. It seemed to fancy beautiful girls very much. Its preference for aesthetics had her keep her hair undone, and after all her moving around, her hair had become utterly disheveled.
It was bothersome.
She took a handful of the little wet mud she had and smeared it harshly across her face. To survive in the end of the world, she knew that beauty was of no help at all. Being exceptionally beautiful would only bring her more disasters. Before this, her face had been concealed by the mud, which masked her true appearance.
Originally, she was very neat and clean. However, inside the refuge, she saw many girls as beautiful as herself who were tormented inhumanely because of their looks. Then, she gave up her habit of washing her face every day. This uncleanliness somehow saved her life, making her look like a dirty little girl.
She had smeared all the thin layer of mud onto her face. But midway, she felt something wrong. When she looked at her hand, her palm was crawling with small dark brown worms.
With a shrill scream, she quickly shook her hand and wiped it on the cement floor to get rid of the worms on her hand. Then she gathered some snow to clean her face, which regained its fairness and smoothness after the mud was wiped off.
She looked at the body and found a hole in its abdomen from which similar worms were crawling out.
She didn’t dare touch the mud anymore. She didn’t know whether the worms living inside the zombie’s body carried any viruses either. Anyway, it was better not to risk it.
She stood up and walked into the distance. The street was deserted; there were no zombies and no humans. Everyone in the city must be dead, and the zombies must have been drawn away by something.
Three days ago, she was quarantined by a spider in a small house, being a "shut-in girl". That was until Gao Shunan and others appeared. The spider zombie dragged her out and they both faced the muzzles together. Along the way, she saw the streets were flooded with zombies attacking survivors in a base on the other side of the city.
Walking along, she used the broken arm in her hand as a weapon for self-defense, hugging it while trotting through the gloomy alleyways.
She had no idea where she should go. She had been separated from her family for such a long period that she didn’t know if they were still alive. As for finding a place to hide?
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but she didn’t know if it was reliable. She was very confused. How could an ordinary person, a weak woman, survive in this world full of dangers and horrendous monsters? Besides, that spider had told her not to run around because the zombies outside could now know where people were hiding.
The spider didn’t lie about this. When Gao Shunan was hunting her and the spider, thousands and thousands of zombies were chasing behind them.
The zombies mysteriously found them, which was quite strange.
Before she knew it, she arrived at the entrance of a school. On the road, stood a road sign, reading "Qulong River Xiangxiang Park".
In the distant snow lay numerous corpses. Judging by their clothes and skin color, they were all probably human corpses. Some had a hole in their heads, coagulated and blackened blood covered the ground where they lay.
Most of the corpses had their heads smashed or mangled. The girl found herself standing in front of one of the corpses, bending down to pick up something, took out some crushed items from the pack, and put them into her mouth.
Turns out, it was a pack of crushed crisps. Finally having food, the girl gathered the strength to carry on. Holding the food, she walked while eating, her silhouette seemed pitiful and alone.
Roar!
The sky was shattered by a roar that came out of nowhere. It made her heart tremble. Surely, no simple monster could let out such a loud noise!
She looked everywhere but failed to pinpoint the origin of the sound—it was simply too loud!
Then, a man bolted out of the small alley not far away. He ran so fast that he seemed to pull apart the air into multiple afterimages.
