I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 525 - 522: Believer Soldier_1
Chapter 525: Chapter 522: Believer Soldier_1
Tang Ye followed it, walking along the streets of Qinshan Base.
"Where is it going?"
This bird had just circled around him a few times, obviously signaling him to follow it. It was flying very low, just above Tang Ye’s head.
The meaning couldn’t be more clear. The nearby survivors watched this strange scene. They originally wanted to catch the red-feathered bird in front of Tang Ye, but Tang Ye’s deliberate actions stopped them. With each step, he would make the cement ground bulge, demonstrating his strength and restraining the greedy survivors from acting rashly.
The bird sometimes flew fast, sometimes slow, occasionally turning its head to call back a few times, urging Tang Ye to keep up. They walked to the gate of the zombie defense wall and went out into Hua City, moving towards a street that Tang Ye didn’t recognize.
They navigated through the overwhelming tide of corpses, entered the mutated forest, crossed mountains and rivers, and stepped into the area between many green mountains.
Not knowing how long he had been walking, plus the journey had been long, and he, as a zombie, didn’t have the patience. Even if he followed this bird to the destination, what was it going to do?
But every time Tang Ye looked back to leave, this red-feathered bird would fly around him again, leaving Tang Ye with no choice but to continue following.
While passing through a jungle, an evolved spider suddenly jumped out. Even though it was of Level 2, it was not of a different species. Even though it was a Level 2, its size was still small due to its species, and it was not powerful. A normal person could easily exterminate it.
Its sudden appearance caught the red-feathered bird unprepared. One of its jointed legs scraped a scar on the bird’s forehead. Although the spider was later killed by Tang Ye, it seemed to be poisonous. The feathers around the wound on the bird’s forehead fell off, revealing white skin.
After struggling in the air for a while, it continued to lead Tang Ye in a direction he didn’t know.
On and on they walked, neither of them ever stopping. After a day’s march, Tang Ye unwittingly came to the edge of a big pit.
Seeing this pit, Tang Ye was taken aback at first. In the distance, he saw some buildings that were barely recognizable.
"Is this Lin City?"
The pit was huge and deep, and some water could be seen at the bottom, but the color of the water was very unnatural, like mercury.
"Where is it trying to take me?"
This was a nuclear bomb crater created by a nuclear explosion. They didn’t stay here long. Tang Ye flew up and followed the red-feathered bird across the huge nuclear bomb pit.
But the further forward Tang Ye went, the stranger he felt. Why did it seem so familiar here?
Finally, they arrived at the entrance of Lin City Honglin High School. Despite the massive power of the nuclear bomb, it was luckily still standing, although somewhat battered.
The corpse tower that he had once built whimsically in front of the gate was gone, and the roadside was overgrown with weeds. Everywhere he looked, no building was intact, and rubble was everywhere.
The entrance gate was distorted beyond recognition. The teaching building in front of him was leaning over, and the stairs on the left had collapsed. Cracks like spider webs were visible everywhere on the ground within the campus.
He didn’t look at the bird again, but walked into the familiar campus in a daze, searching for the familiar path.
He had only lived here for a little over a month, but he didn’t know why, every part of it was deeply ingrained in him.
The path he was walking on was just like the one he took back home after hunting. He arrived at the girls’ dormitory, which was leaning against a large tree on one side. The other side of the dormitory had collapsed, and the debris was scattered on the ground, revealing a "back"-shaped corridor inside.
He went in and came to the dorm room where he had slept. He opened the cabinet, which contained the dusty, broken down vest. It was still there. The wall of the dorm that was against the bed had fallen off a lot, and only a single character "Ning" remained of the characters Tang Ye had written on it.
He looked around for a long time. No one had been here for a long time. Tang Ye lightly stomped his foot and could stir up a cloud of dust.
"Why did you bring me here?" Tang Ye asked.
But after a while, no one answered. Glancing around, the bird hadn’t followed him. Leaving the dormitory and returning to the school gate, the red-feathered bird was nowhere to be seen.
"Has it left?"
Why would that bird know this place and bring him here?
Chen Bieli said it was her pet, and although her words were ambiguous, Tang Ye couldn’t help but doubt Chen Bieli’s identity.
It was all too strange. In some ways, she was very much like Ning Yu’er, but in more ways, they were completely different. Whether it was her habits, expressions, way of talking, or even her tone, Chen Bieli was nothing like Ning Yu’er. Chen Bieli was the darkness to Ning Yu’er’s light.
This was too extreme; their personalities were as polarized as can be. Tang Ye doubted, speculated that Chen Bieli was Ning Yu’er. Despite his doubts, he wasn’t sure, and certainly didn’t want to believe it.
If Chen Bieli really was Ning Yu’er, people, after all, are fickle creatures, but she couldn’t have possibly changed so drastically!
What was left of Lin City after the nuclear explosion was desolation. It was only desolation! The ubiquity of desolation induced a sense of loneliness and fear.
Here, you could see no traces of life, no living creatures, and no zombies. It was as if everyone in the world had disappeared, leaving only you still alive. Can you imagine this loneliness?
However, Tang Ye stayed here for two days and then searched for the missing red-feathered bird. He did not find the bird, so he eventually left Lin City.
This city, perhaps, he would never return again.
Within the Hua City Shiwuguan Base, the station was filled with thousands of blood-soaked soldiers staring at the masked man being lifted onto the stage.
"Salute!"
An deep voice sounded among the troops, and then all the soldiers put their arms across their chests and slightly bowed their bodies, then returned to their previous stance.
The person on the stage looked down at the uniform movements below and nodded in satisfaction. He tapped the microphone with his hand, and after noticing the sound was normal, he spoke with a raspy voice.
"Why are we here?"
"For peace!"
"What is our organization called?"
"Peace Party!"
Each time the masked man spoke, the soldiers below echoed with a thunderous roar!
"What are the weapons in our hands?"
"It could be a knife! It could be a sword! It could be a gun! We ourselves are weapons, killing all enemies that stand hindrance to our progress!"
"Excellent! Now the next question, what should our organization use to maintain itself?"
"With our lives!"
This bizarre scene in the plaza was not seen by others. The soldiers’ eyes all held fanaticism. This was the fanaticism of faith. In the apocalypse, was there really anyone who still had faith?
Although it was always the masked man speaking and the soldiers answering, none of the soldiers were looking at him. They were looking at the logo behind him.
It was a strange sword that looked like an ax, a lance, and a knife, and resembled several other weapons all at once. This was a sword that merged the shapes of many weapons. Black ribbons wrapped around the handle of the golden sword, which seemed somewhat eerie together.
