I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 405 - 402
Chapter 405: 402
Hearing Nannan’s infantile voice, Ah Fu’s robust body trembled violently and he turned around to look.
Nannan scanned the crowd around, disappointment flooded her face when she didn’t find the person she was looking for.
Tang Ye wanted to pick her up, but upon standing, a thought made him change his mind. He quietly stood and walked into a room. Ah Fu, stirred with excitement, rushed to Nannan and scooped her up in his arms.
As an unfamiliar person suddenly grabbed her, Nannan struggled and resisted.
"Don’t hold me, who are you?!"
Ah Fu shrank back a bit, then emitted a low growl in Nannan’s direction. The growl was so quiet that only the two zombies in the room heard it.
Upon hearing the sound, Nannan paused before asking, "Are you Ah Fu? Why did you change yourself like this?"
Ah Fu chuckled but said nothing. He hoisted Nannan onto his strong neck.
"So, you really are Ah Fu!" Nannan said, bubbling with glee.
Meanwhile, after entering a room and exiting with a mask on, the two-meter-tall zombie Tang Ye approached Ah Fu.
"Daddy!"
Upon seeing Tang Ye, Nannan swiftly leaped towards him. Tang Ye hastily caught her.
"Nannan..."
Tang Ye didn’t know what to say, his gaze was complex. Xu Haishui, who watched this scene, felt a pang of sadness.
This was the first time he felt such sadness. It wasn’t for himself, but rather for Tang Ye.
He knew that one day, Nannan would have to leave Tang Ye. He didn’t know what exactly Tang Ye intended to do, but he knew that no matter what, Tang Ye didn’t want Nannan to get hurt. Being a zombie, Tang Ye’s actions in the future would undoubtedly cause more innocent blood to be spilled.
Even if Tang Ye had managed to establish a small human society, he could not keep Nannan there indefinitely. She had to venture further away, far from Lin City, far from Shiwuguan Base, and far from here.
Keeping Nannan with Tang Ye would only harm her. The very reason Tang Ye acted this way was to make sure she wouldn’t recognize him, hence proving that Tang Ye would continue to pretend to be human for a long time.
In any case, the pain of parting was inevitable. Afterwards, they would belong to different worlds.
How would Tang Ye feel when he had to say goodbye to the girl who called him "Daddy" for so long?
After following Tang Ye for almost a year, Xu knew that Tang Ye was not emotionless ... he did have feelings!
However, his feelings were so deeply buried that they would only inadvertently surface during certain moments, and were so faint that they could easily be overlooked — even by Tang Ye himself.
"Hehe..."
Nannan began laughing, squirming excitedly in Tang Ye’s arms, clearly conveying her joy at seeing him again.
"Daddy, you haven’t been back in a while. Where were you?" Nannan asked in her babyish voice. Tang Ye hesitated before answering jokingly and with an indiscernible undertone.
"Daddy was out hunting monsters!"
"Killing monsters? Are you like Ultraman?? You’re so awesome!"
A weird expression came over Tang Ye. Could he tell her that he was the monster?
More accurately, he was a monster hunting other monsters.
In the midst of Shiwuguan Base, Nannan’s laughter continued to fill the air, attracting countless glances.
The sight of them together was odd yet heartwarming, making everyone who saw it smile involuntarily...
But only Tang Ye knew how fleeting this warmth was. She had to leave soon, to a safe human society far from him, the zombie. He had to distance her from himself.
However, he couldn’t rush the process of sending Nannan away. He needed someone to accompany her. That person needed to be both capable and responsible, and ideally have a sense of justice.
But where could he find such a person? The thought of it gave Tang Ye a headache.
In the coming days, as if getting ready to part ways, Tang Ye took Nannan all around Lin City, walking her through places even he had never been before.
Nannan was content. Her daddy hadn’t ever gone this far to accompany her. She was genuinely happy, oblivious to the fact that this was a poignant farewell in disguise.
After about a week, the initially tranquil Shiwuguan Base was in an uproar. Severe conflict erupted between the survivors who had fled from other areas and the ones already residing inside the base!
Upon returning and observing the chaos, Tang Ye’s face darkened.
"Give me food!"
"All the cabbages are mine, no one dare to snatch them!"
Within several days, countless bodies had piled up at the entrance of Shiwuguan Base. The guards on the watchtower constantly pointed their guns at the external survivors, ready to shoot anyone who dared cross the threshold.
Witnessing this scene, Tang Ye was puzzled as to why these survivors that seemed to come from elsewhere would end up clashing with his people.
However, Tang Ye was no saint. Faced with this situation, a killing intent stirred within him!
In no time, he established a psychic link with Xu Haishui. "What’s going on?" He asked.
Xu responded instantly, "Boss, wait for me to come out and I’ll fill you in."
"No need, I’ll go in myself."
Tang Ye cracked an unsettling grin. Seeing him approach, the guards rushed down the towers fully armed, driving away the survivors gathered at the entrance, without Tang Ye having to lift a finger.
"F*ck off, all of you! Anyone who dares step forward, I’ll kill first!" Shouted Huang Quanjiu, looking ferocious as his gun pointed at the nearest survivors. The people within his sight stepped back hastily, fearful.
"We just need food. You have so much..." A disgruntled survivor spoke up, but before he could finish his sentence, Huang Quanjiu opened fire!
Bang, Bang, Bang!
The dissenting survivor’s head was instantly blown to bits by the bullets!
"Who else dares to mess with me? Back off!"
The crowd instinctively scattered, not daring to challenge his patience with their lives.
After making way, Huang Quanjiu led a dozen men towards Tang Ye, greeting him respectfully.
Tang Ye handed Nannan to a woman and walked into the crowd with Ah Fu, causing murmurs among the onlookers.
"Who is he?"
"Is he the boss here?"
"He must be."
"What if we negotiate with him, we’re still a sizable crowd..." A hesitant voice voiced out, their eyes sweeping over the vegetable garden filled with cabbage, his face showing a glint of greed.
"Are you crazy? That man’s clearly not to be messed with!"
