Chapter 385: Chapter 382: Blue Brick Passage_1
This place was very vast and expansive. The walls comprised of countless thick and thin tree roots were not too tight, allowing space for two people to crawl through at some spots.
Tang Ye glanced around but didn’t find any entrance leading somewhere. Hence, he simply sat down, listening to the song, quietly enjoying it.
Perhaps he had grown accustomed to it; Tang Ye’s mood gradually calmed down. Once it did, he felt like he had been acting like an idiot just now. Getting angry at some things was impotent behavior—it would only make the adversary more amused. Wasn’t that mysterious being just trying to mess with him? Alright then, he’d play along. Let them sing, he’d listen. Anyway, no matter what, it was still enjoyment for him.
Seriously, singing for someone else to hear wasn’t that glamorous.
Immediately, Tang Ye sat down comfortably and swayed his head to the rhythm of the music.
But the rhythm of this song was rather slow, completely devoid of any nightclub vibes. Fortunately, Tang Ye wasn’t banging his head, just swaying lightly, pretending to enjoy it immensely.
Ah Fu by his side, however, was still in a volatile state. At the start, Tang Ye sent it a "calm down" message and then ignored it.
He didn’t know how long it had been, but the song hadn’t stopped. The gaze on Tang Ye had brought a chilling feeling with it. Tang Ye’s heart tightened, but he remained as he was. His head continued to sway, and his fingers tapped to the faint clapping rhythm.
Humph!
After pretending to enjoy himself some more, the faint finger clapping noise disappeared. A cold male snort echoed in the air. The voice sounded very young and was silky smooth.
The singing continued. Ah Fu, who had just calmed down under Tang Ye’s pacification, suddenly grew volatile again. Its big mouth opened, and deep growls continuously emanated from its throat. Eventually, its frenzy escalated beyond its initial state. Realizing something was wrong, Tang Ye turned to look at Ah Fu.
"Ah Fu, quiet!"
Tang Ye reprimanded, asserting pressure on Ah Fu mentally. He thought Ah Fu would desist quickly, but quite unexpectedly, Ah Fu ignored him and grew even crazier!
Ah Fu collapsed to the ground with a thump. Its massive mouth gaped open like a folding umbrella, exposing several rows of sharp and long tusks. Ah Fu went berserk running around aimlessly, causing the tree-root walls to shake violently as they were rammed into, making chunks of bark fall off.
At this point, Tang Ye immediately understood that whoever was hiding out of sight had targeted Ah Fu. But it seemed like there was more than one person lurking in the shadows. The first one was the woman singing, and the second was the man who had just snorted.
Tang Ye stood up, the mental energy in his mind swirling and locked onto Ah Fu, ready to make it stop whatever it was doing. As Tang Ye channeled his thoughts, Ah Fu let out a painful howl, slowly regaining its consciousness, and started to calm down.
About three seconds later, Tang Ye suddenly stopped. He had thought of something and allowed Ah Fu to revert to its raging state.
He had a question: why did the two figures in the shadows target Ah Fu instead of him?
His strength was the same as Ah Fu’s, and at the moment, although he couldn’t pinpoint the hidden figures’ location, his intuition suggested that they were close. However, he couldn’t sense any life force.
This indicated that those figures could very well not be humans—perhaps they were zombies like him. Yet, Tang Ye could only smell Ah Fu and no other zombies.
Given that the surveillance had focused more on him, it would mean that he was the primary target of observation, and Ah Fu was just an afterthought.
Tang Ye, who had evolved to Level 5, had extremely quick logical reasoning. In just an instant, he saw through what was happening on the surface and considered the deepest underlying issues.
And that was—why did they choose to control Ah Fu instead of him?
He considered two reasons. First, he was special—having human intelligence and thinking, he was more difficult to control than the less intelligent Ah Fu. Second, for some reason, they couldn’t directly take action against him!
However, thinking about the confusion-inducing enchantment he had faced earlier, it was something that couldn’t be measured by scientific standards. If they were capable of setting up such a miraculous enchantment, controlling him wouldn’t be too difficult. Therefore, Tang Ye quickly dismissed the first reason.
But he still didn’t know what they were trying to do.
They were controlling Ah Fu now, apparently to do something. So Tang Ye decided to wait and see what they were intending to make Ah Fu do.
A hint of crimson flashed in his eyes as he watched Ah Fu rampage around. Its huge body was like a massive truck, causing the surrounding space to seemingly tremble.
Finally, he saw Ah Fu target a certain spot, growling and repeatedly charging at it.
Boom! Boom! Boom! ...!
After more than a dozen hits, the thick tree root in front of Ah Fu flattened and bent under the continuous impacts, finally collapsing. Afterwards, Ah Fu regained consciousness, turned around, and growled at Tang Ye, expressing confusion.
Narrowing his eyes, Tang Ye quickly moved to Ah Fu’s side, pushed him away, and looked towards the spot Ah Fu had rammed open.
In front of him was the bumpy ground with scattered wood pieces. However, in a certain spot on the ground, a green brick had been revealed!
This was a small green brick used in ancient China for building walls. Seeing this, Tang Ye’s eyes lit up. He walked over to the brick, lifted his foot, and stamped on it.
Bang!
As his foot descended, it caused a loud noise. The green brick collapsed along with the other bricks, making a crackling sound, revealing a tunnel below.
"Let’s go!"
Tang Ye called out to Ah Fu, and while listening to the song, he jumped down.
The tunnel was about four to five meters wide, allowing Tang Ye to move freely. However, when Ah Fu came down, its muscles were all squeezed together. As Tang Ye moved forward and Ah Fu followed, the bricks that came in contact with its flesh and bone armor were knocked out of place causing a chaotic scene.
The singing became clearer and clearer, almost as if with every step they took, the source of the sound seemed closer and yet more elusive.
After about a dozen steps, they came to a bend in the tunnel. The pathway beyond the curve was much wider, so Ah Fu no longer bumped into the green bricks as it moved.
There were other passages appearing from time to time, but Tang Ye kept moving following his perception of the song, like he knew the way. This was something even Tang Ye himself hadn’t noticed.
Gradually, the singing transitioned from being elusive to blurry, then from blurry to real. In the end, it felt like someone was singing right into his ear. It was easy to make out.
They covered less than six hundred meters when Tang Ye saw an archway in the pathway up ahead and stopped.
There was no longer just green bricks beyond the arch, but other decorative items as well.
