Chapter 229: Chapter 227 The Sky Turns Dark _1
The survivors stood stunned. Hearing this, Li Qingtian, standing behind, twitched and stepped back. It was obvious that this oddball wasn’t going to let this group of people off.
The faces of the two survivors holding up guns changed instantly, they hadn’t anticipated that Tang Ye’s next words would be so preposterous.
Within a very short time span, their brains churned. They realized that they couldn’t let this whole incident pass without any action. Thus, they decided to strike first, firing two bright crimson flames towards Tang Ye.
Bang, Bang, Bang!
The bullets tore through the air. In Tang Ye’s eyes, the three bullets streaked brilliant arcs in the air.
After the casings dropped to the ground, the two men looked at each other, their faces pale in fear. Tang Ye had vanished, leaving only expressionless Li Qingtian standing, unaffected by their gunshots.
Their pupils contracted, a chill circulated through their bodies. Their eyes darted around, but Tang Ye was nowhere to be seen.
At this moment, a survivor yelled in terror, "He...he’s behind you!"
"Behind us?"
The two men felt goosebumps crawl up their spines, their hands trembling. And then, a heavy hand rested on each of their shoulders.
"Hehe, surprised?"
Cold sweat dripped down their foreheads. They turned slowly, only to hear a ’snap’, their heads fell limp. With a soft release of his grasp, two bodies fell lifeless to the ground.
The remaining survivors, previously showing arrogant expressions, were now filled with terror. As the biggest man there, Zhang Han couldn’t dodge bullets as easily as Tang Ye.
As soon as they had opened fire, Tang Ye vanished as if he had teleported. His speed was beyond what a Level 2 New Human could achieve.
Feeling the dread that Tang Ye induced, without further thought, they scattered and ran off. Tang Ye’s eyes flashed dangerously. He initially intended to kill all these people, but upon reflection, he wasn’t here to kill everyone. He was here to kill the boss and then take control of this place.
Going on a killing spree would be counterproductive. Murder was necessary, but it was only secondary.
The menacing look faded from Tang Ye’s eyes. Glancing coldly at Li Qingtian, he said, "What? Not leaving yet? Are you waiting for me to kill you?"
"I am leaving. but I have a request."
Tang Ye cocked his head, somewhat perplexed, but responded, "What is it? Speak."
"I want to see what you look like."
"Are you curious about my appearance?"
"You could say that!", Li Qingtian firmed her grip, her gaze locked onto Tang Ye.
"Hehe, of course."
Tang Ye walked before her. Sizing him up, she felt short before his towering figure. With his domineering posture, he glanced around at the other spectators, without revealing his face or removing his mask.
Wherever his gaze landed, the survivors shied away, refusing to meet his eyes. They were afraid of his cold, bloodthirsty stare, fearing this ruthless "New Human" might charge and rip them apart.
"These people are smart." Tang Ye mumbled, feeling satisfied.
He leaned in close to Li Qingtian, bent a little and reached for his mask. As he began to remove his mask, his mouth crept up into a disturbing grin.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
The ’V For Vendetta’ mask was removed, revealing Tang Ye’s face to her alone.
Li Qingtian froze, the face she saw was one of a straight-up zombie!
No human could have such a face!
His pallid face, occasionally showing wriggling earthworm-like veins, with eyes and lips casting an eerie purple glow, his chillingly wide grin made him look like a wandering ghost!
At first glance, it could send chills down anyone’s spine!
He was a zombie, a murderous zombie!
The aura of murder occasionally emanating from him was horrifying!
Li Qingtian had killed many herself, but even the sum of their murderous aura couldn’t match one 500th of Tang Ye’s.
Just how many had he killed to possess such an intense murderous aura?
She dared not to imagine, but she remembered this face, the zombie face, the killer of her own brother!
She swore, she would never let him off in this lifetime!
Li Qingtian’s heart was filled with nothing but hatred. She wasn’t concerned with why this zombie, Tang Ye, could speak human language or think like a human.
A smart zombie could bring a disaster to humanity, but she didn’t care. She wouldn’t live to see the day humanity would fall. All she wanted was to have her revenge on Tang Ye for her brother and then take her own life to join him in the next life.
But what she didn’t know was, when she would next see Tang Ye, she wouldn’t even recognize him.
She stared at Tang Ye until he put his mask back on. Then she turned around and walked towards the outer part of the gathering place.
After she left, Tang Ye continued walking towards the deeper part of the gathering place without glimpsing back at her.
His towering figure, still wearing that peculiar mask, naturally attracted attention. But, everyone there minded their own business and did not interfere.
Tang Ye roamed around, and found the place quite big. Though not as big as the Yindan Base, it was much larger than Honglin High School. There were idle survivors everywhere, and the area reeked of an odd mixture of rot, feces, and urine; all scents mingling together.
This combination of smells bothered Tang Ye, who had an exceptionally keen sense of smell. As he familiarized himself with the surroundings, the day gradually turned into dusk.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the survivors outside quickly entered the nearby buildings, appearing to be in fear of something. Tang Ye found it all very peculiar.
"Do they also have a curfew here?"
Tang Ye wondered. The idea of a curfew seemed pointless to him.
The curfew at Yindan Base was for maintaining order, but here, there was no order to maintain. So, what was the curfew for?
And why so early? It wasn’t even dark and the survivors were already scrambling indoors.
After a while, guards armed with assault rifles ran frantically towards different places. Some split up and entered different buildings, while others ran further away. When they passed Tang Ye, they threw him odd glances but said nothing.
Seeing this, Tang Ye grew even more puzzled. If the average survivors were going into their homes to comply with the curfew, then what were these armed guards doing?
Hiding from curfew checks?
The odd scene led Tang Ye to believe that there might be something else going on, not just a curfew.
Darkness fell.
