I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 1666 - 1660: "Hope You Live

Chapter 1666: Chapter 1660: "Hope You Live

The opponent seemed to have gone through an extremely brutal battle years before; his uniform was already tattered beyond repair, consistent with the uniforms of the vanguard of ordinary soldier zombies that we saw at the defense wall, perhaps even more ragged.

Moreover, it looked like this guy had been buried in the ground for a long time without seeing sunlight, his skin was deathly pale with a hint of purple, carrying a fresh earthy smell along with a faint stench of decay!

That strange aura was both familiar and foreign to the three, an indescribable sense of discord, as if a machine had donned human skin! No matter how realistic it was, anyone could see at a glance how different they were from normal!

His whole being was enveloped in deathly stillness, the three could not forget that fake officer from before, who had nearly cost them their lives!

"Ma De..."

Ghost Head cursed internally, this situation was happening again; he’d rather have been consumed by the tide of corpses just now. He slowly moved his arm, fingers reaching for the Destroyer Hand Grenade secured at his waistband, a tool he hadn’t considered using even when surrounded by corpses!

But now, having experienced many things, Ghost Head had developed certain instincts; creatures with the same aura as Yong or that fake officer were zombies! And generally of a high level, at least Level 7 or above!

For such beings, only the Destroyer Hand Grenade in their possession posed any threat; as for other items, they were as effective as a fire poker.

At the moment Wu Zhixiong’s face came level with the strange soldier’s, the three’s hearts nearly stopped. Brother Shi frantically pinched Ghost Head’s skin, giving him a signal; Ghost Head responded by gripping Brother Shi’s shoulder tightly. Their movements were cautious to the extreme, not daring to make the slightest mistake!

Thus, the three stared the soldier down amidst the background noise of zombie howls, creating a bizarre atmosphere. Suddenly, the soldier made a move; he thrust his head forward, his nose brushing against Wu Zhixiong’s collar, causing him to freeze in place!

What this ragged soldier wanted was unknown, doing such a peculiar thing! Once he brought his nose close, the fresh earth scent vanished, replaced by a strong smell of blood, alongside dampness, mold, forest fungus, and the rot of corpses, combining into a strange aroma that seemed ingrained within the soldier. Whenever it wafted over Wu Zhixiong, it made him nearly retch, yet he dared not move!

That smell was completely unlike anything a surface creature should have!

He exerted every effort to stay calm, then sensed the unusual soldier’s twitching nose!

He was... was he sniffing for a particular scent on himself!

Upon realizing this guy’s behavior, Wu Zhixiong broke into a cold sweat, thinking, damn, was a zombie eyeing him? He had no such morbid taste! Even if it were so, it should at least be with a cute girl, not a man!

Wu Zhixiong’s expression turned as if he had stepped in something unpleasant, almost crying, but fortunately, he was worried for nothing. Soon enough, the strange soldier withdrew his head, eyes narrowing, his face occasionally showing signs of contemplation.

He was pondering something, a matter that needed time to resolve, but certain existences were unwilling to grant him that time; at this moment, outside the building, a deafening roar of a zombie broke the silence, drawing the soldier’s gaze away from Wu Zhixiong and the others, towards their back, prompting Ghost Head to look too, his face changing upon seeing the scene outside!

The high-level silver-armored corpse previously engaged in a feast amidst the corpse tide inexplicably halted its behavior, a colossal form crawling on the ground, paying no heed to the zombies gnawing at it, its gaze fixed on the bizarre soldier, repeatedly emitting angry roars, an urgency apparent even in its hideous countenance.

Seeing this, it seemed the silver-armored corpse and the strange soldier held a grudge; if so, was the strange soldier aligned with the demonic zombies’ side?

This thought chilled Ghost Head’s heart; that "cute" silver-armored corpse had single-handedly attracted all surrounding demonic zombies’ attention, keeping him alive till now. In another perspective, the big "cute" creature provided him safety assurance; he would rather die at the hands of a silver-armored corpse!

Yet the choice wasn’t his to make; for the strange soldier to be taken so seriously by the silver-armored corpse, his level must be at least the same, whether Level 7 or Level 8; neither could escape the Buddha’s grasp!

Seeing the unusual soldier’s gaze shifting to the silver-armored corpse, Brother Shi and Wu Zhixiong finally dared to look back as well, but quickly turned away again, shaking their heads in disappointment; compared to their own lives, nothing else mattered. The one thing they now hoped for was whatever spark might fly between the silver-armored corpse and this strange soldier.

Unexpectedly, things didn’t proceed as expected; rather than immediately clashing with the silver-armored corpse as they’d imagined, the unusual soldier first displayed a peculiar smile, a grin tinged with disdain!

Seeing this smile startled Ghost Head, and Brother Shi felt the same; they exchanged glances, now certain the strange soldier’s level was definitely higher than Yong, for the expression was far too vivid!

If they hadn’t been through the mess before, they would surely mistake the unusual soldier for a normal person!

"Looks like you can’t wait for me to take what you want. Fine, it’s not often I get to see the outside world. I’ll relax a bit, and by the way, before that brat comes to take us back, I hope you stay alive."

As soon as the words fell, the strange soldier’s expression turned bizarre; his tongue protruded out, thin and long like a snake’s, lightly licking his lips, speaking with no attempt to exclude the trio, leaving Ghost Head and the others puzzled over his remarks; something about rarely seeing the outside world? And who was this brat he referred to? Plus, what was the point of licking his lips?

Although saying to the silver-armored corpse, "Hope you stay alive," the tone was clearly not a concern, and the gaze resembled one directed at a meal!

What relationship was this? From the information out of the unusual soldier’s mouth, it seemed they emerged from a location completely unknown, utterly sealed off—what kind of place would that be?
